Chapter 1 - Prologue

'Hurry up!'

'Kill the villain!'

'Don't let him live!'

'On to the guillotine!'

The angry crowd shouted to the executioner as he drags a battered man towards the center of the plaza. This battered man, in question, was about to acquire punishment after being revealed that he has the God of Mischief's tattoo on his body.

Though deemed faultless by the court, since he has the tattoo on this body, he will be punished according to the beliefs of the nation. The punishment, for people like him, is death - a verdict that caused his two young daughters to cry.

"*cries* Father...!"

"Please not our papa!"

Though the daughters are already aware of what will happen to their father once he is shown in public, they still couldn't accept it. They tried to force their small bodies through the crowd to reach their father, but their friends kept holding them back per the father's final request.

They were completely powerless. And because of this powerlessness, they were forced to watch their father breathe his last under the wrath that was not supposed to be his in the first place.

*slice*

The moment the punishment was done, the two children were freed from the grips that bound them to their positions. This allowed them to run through the crowd and hug their father's dead body. At that moment, they swore on their hearts to not allow their father's death to be in vain.

That day, the circles of destiny moved in different directions to pave way to the destruction or revolution of the country that have deprived the citizens who are under the guidance of the God of Mischief with their rights that makes them human.

And then, six years later...

"Mother, are you alright?" A young kid that looks like a boy asked her mother, her eyes looking at the woman she are speaking to with a worried expression, after putting down a pail filled with water per her mother's request.

The mother did not answer immediately, her hands gripping on the letter she received just a while ago tightly as if she just read something that will put her in misery, before finally saying, "Your sisters are coming back home".

The kid looked at her mother in confusion before asking, "I never knew I had sisters. I thought I was the only child of this family".

'Which is why you never allowed me to tell anyone that I'm a girl in the first place', were the words left unspoken by the kid, yet the mother did not fail to interpret her thoughts.

"They are... your sisters from my first husband", the mother answered.

The kid, knowing the rumors she heard about her mother's first family, unconsciously furrowed her brows before innocently asking, "And that's a good thing, right?", slightly hoping that the rumors of her sisters being enemies of the crown were mere... rumors. Her hopes, however, were dashed when she saw her mother look like she was about to cry due to conflicting emotions.

"The appearance of the bearers of the Mischief's mark in one's home is never a good thing, which is why... before and during their stay in this house, I want you to do everything you can to avoid them", the mother answered.

The child can only nod, the revelations still not sinking deeply in her conscious. And then, she smiled to show her mother that everything will be alright - her boyish looks causing the mother to calm down from her internal fears.

"Avoid them, alright? Don't allow them to get close to you... for your sake and for ours."

With that, the two returned to their normal chores - the child handling the household and the mother with her work. In between, the child managed to take the crumpled letter her mother left in the trash can and read it.

"We shall return at the end of the week - the time our vegeance will be completed."

'What does this even mean? What vengeance?' The kid thought as the Mark of Compassion and Balance under the Goddess of Life and Healing lit up behind her glove.

The question was later answered when she heard the destruction of the capital city of the Sun Kingdom and, along with it, is the death of the current Sun King, King Florentine Cerele Edram the Third. This news caused her mark to cry out loud within her body and, ultimately, made her shout in pain.

"What's wrong, my child? What is wrong?" The mother asked as her daughter crumples on the ground in pain. When her mother checked the girl's body, she realized that her daughter's mark was changing. Along with it is the change happening on her daughter's body - a change so horrifying that it made the mother scream, completely terrified.

"No, no, no! This is just a dream... this is just a dream!" The mother shouted before leaving her daughter. The daughter, still in pain, can only watch her from behind.

Soon, when she managed to acquire even a little bit of strength, she looked at her mark and realized what has happened to her.

'I thought this was just a thing of legends... I guess I looked like a monster right now in front of other people's eyes... even of my own mother. Why is this happening to me?' She thought before remembering the news that changed her mark into the Mark of Inhumanity and Instability of the Goddess of Death and Destruction.

It was her sisters that put her in the situation. And she was so sure that her young mind, who was forced to mature quickly despite her seven years of age, in chaos. During these times, she heard a chuckle behind her mind.

A chuckle, and a voice dripping with honey, the unknown telling her to run from her childhood home... to push through the pain until it swallows her whole. This caused her to look at the door where her father resides, before crawling out of the place she once called home.
