Just like what the tablet said, challenges of similar manner was shown in the next floors, with strength-related challenges handled by Moon, and mind or logic-related challenges handled by Sun. Kid only stayed behind them to watch how they'll go, which caused her to feel impressed by her two companions.
"This is fun! You two are really different from the nobles I encountered before! It makes this exploration interesting to look at!" Kid exclaimed after they reached the entrance of Floor 26.
"How so?" Sun asked, which made Kid answer, "Most run away or use other people as shields! Though I manage to keep them from death, the reaction was so consistent that I couldn't help but avoid nobles, if I can help it, whenever I do this job!"
"Hah! As if! We know how much you love money so it's really impossible for you to feel that way! I am very sure that you think of us as money chests, so don't go talking as if nobles are the bad guys!" Moon said, which made Kid shrug and answer, "Money chests come second. And I'm serious when I said that this has been fun, which is why... "
Kid stepped on the next floor, which surprised Sun and Moon that they ended up rushing to follow her. When they did, they found themselves in an arena filled with animals howling or making sounds of excitement.
"It's time to make this a little more interesting", Kid said before taking out a knife in her pocket that surprised Sun and Moon.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Moon asked angrily as he step in front of Sun to protect him. Kid grinned at his question and replied, "What do you think does it mean?".
When Moon only seethed in anger, Kid opted to answer his question.
"This floor's lesson is to tell you that you should never trust people you don't know very well. And the challenge for passing this... is a ritual requiring a life of someone to be offered to the gods. One of us must die, and who that one will be is obviously... one of you. And I choose the weakest one, Sun, to be the sacrifice, so no offense, Sun. You chose to come to the higher levels, it's only right for you to be the key to get us out of here, too. " Kid answered.
"You treacherous brat---"
"What about your promise as our guide?" Sun asked, which made Kid shrug and answer, "Promises are meant to be broken, Sir Sun. There is no such thing as a perfect promise, especially for places like this. You can either break it to live, or keep it and die".
"Does it have to be---" Sun was interrupted when Moon suddenly answered, "I hate you but you are the only one who can help get Sir Sun out of this place. If one of us must die, then use my life, instead".
"Moon?!" Sun was surprised by what Moon said, with Kid turning silent of what he said.
"I swore to protect Sir Sun to the death, and I will keep that promise no matter what happens to me. If that promise must be finished today, then so be it." Moon continued.
"No, I was the one who took us to this mess. So, use my life just as you have planned, Kid", Sun said which made Moon look at him in shock. Without even thinking twice, Moon rushed towards Kid to take her weapon.
Kid grinned and threw the weapon out of the arena before Moon can reach her - a movement that surprised Sun and Moon.
"They passed, didn't they, Myriel?" Kid asked with a loud voice, which made the room rumbled.
"You---! Enough with this little games!" Moon exclaimed angrily at Kid while grabbing Kid's collar. This made Kid smile and answer, "It's only right to do this with Myriel. After all, Myriel was still unsure if she can trust you two".
"What do you mean?" Sun asked.
"Myriel can sense if someone came here seeking for her power, whether for good or evil. Along with it are the lies you told me when you hired me. I was fine with it, of course, since who doesn't have a secret or two? The only problem is that Myriel is too special, even to the other dungeons, to allow the distrust to keep up", Kid said, which made Moon release her collar.
"Now, after 26 floors comes the final trial. It is time for you to answer all of Myriel's questions before she opens the door for you.
Her questions are...
Why are you really here?" Kid said, which made Sun and Moon turn silent.
And then, Sun stepped near the door to talk.
"I have come here to acquire a spell that will break my father's curse. As to who I am and who my father is, I cannot disclose it. My companion, on the other hand, came to make sure that I'll be able to come home safe and sound. There is no ill intent to it. I promise you that", Sun answered, which made Kid nod.
"The second question is... why Kid? Why did you choose, er, me when you clearly have other choices?" Kid asked, her brows furrowing at the question.
"It's because my outfit looks cool, of course---"
"Because I saw him in one of my visions protecting" Sun blushed slightly in embarrassment before continuing his words, "me from enemies alongside a group of people whose names I still don't really know".
"... Me? You saw me?" Kid asked, surprised, which made Sun nod and answer, "Yes".
"A man or a woman?"
"I'm pretty sure it's a... man. He has the same hair and mask like yours so I can't be mistaken", Sun answered, which made Kid whine, " Nooooo".
'What kind of horror will I face that will force me to keep this fake gender mother put me through?!', Kid thought tearfully before saying the next question, much to Sun and Moon's confusion.
"If you do acquire what you need, can you promise that it won't fall in the hands of the Dark Gods?" Kid asked, which made Sun nod with a "Yes".
"Finally, are you willing to sacrifice a part of you to Kid? And forget all your memories about him once you leave this place?" Kid asked, which made Sun turn silent.
"I am willing, as long as Kid gives me a part of him in return", Sun said, which surprised Kid and Moon.
"I did not know I grew on you!" Kid exclaimed, which made Sun smile.
"Well, questions has been asked, answers has been given. Myriel has deemed you worthy to see her. See you again in your next visit, your highnesses", Kid said, which suprised Sun and Moon but they couldn't say anything back since they were thrust to meet up with the spirit handling the dungeon in a forceful manner.
Leaving Sun and Moon to the spirits' hands, Kid returned home with a lot of gold coins on her rucksack.
When she does, she slightly feels sad that the adventure she had with Sun and Moon has ended, which is odd since she has been acting as a guide since a year ago. There's no use thinking about it, however, since she knows that the two will forget her, too, like the others. It was something that she had agreed on with the spirits of a dungeon before she takes on an exploration job - for her protection and her family.
