Chapter 5 - Chapter 3: The Twist of Fate Part III

Dee, with her mask on, is a consistent face in the Adventurer's Guild after her father became bedridden from an accident in the construction site. Carrying an alias, "Kid", to stop her mother from worrying about her real job, she is well-known as a dungeon guide for non-combat people who wishes to enter dungeons and wishes to come out safe and sound. Boasting a 100% completion rate, she is highly sought by scholars and academic students despite their hunch that she is just a kid. This is no different to nobles who is planning to travel by themselves and wants to know how the outside world looks like before they really do it. Such is the case for Kid's current client, Sun, and his bodyguard, Moon, who wishes to enter an S-class Dungeon to see something that will, apparently, help Sun make certain decisions for the land he is ruling. As to what those decisions are, Kid doesn't really care as long as she gets paid.

"You're early." Kid commented upon seeing her client and his bodyguard sitting comfortably at the corner of the room. Like her, they are wearing masks - which is common to members of the nobility - which makes them stick out in the building. They don't seem to care much, however, which only makes the female adventurers around them swoon from their unusually strong aura.

"You're late." Moon answered, which made Kid's brow raise as she response, "On time, you mean".

"Thank you for accepting my request, Kid, despite the danger. I hope I didn't put you in a tough position for this." Sun said, which made Kid wave and answer, "You're paying me so don't worry about it. And besides, you still hired me even though you're aware that I don't have any experience with S-class dungeons. Let's call it even".

"You're overpaid." Moon pointed out, which made Kid's shoulder shrug as if she doesn't know what he means.

"Anyway, I'm going to give you a walkthrough about how a non-combat dungeon exploration works." Kid said before sitting down beside Moon, much to Moon's displeasure.

"For the overview, dungeons have been around us ever since the appearance of the ability called Menu that is granted to most of the citizens in Veteus. Composed of different ranks such as E class to S class, they may be passed through without the dungeon getting hostile with the explorers. This is only happens when the following conditions are fulfilled:

One, you do not have any members with marks belonging to a God who is hostile to the God that owns the dungeon.

Two, no using weapons or magic inside the dungeon. That means we need to enter the dungeon without any weapon, book, or tome. If you do, the dungeon will be more likely to trust you.

Three, no hurting the creatures residing in the dungeon or destroying anything inside the dungeon. No taking materials, either.

What the dungeon looks like in the inside, keep them that way on the way to the outside. Only then we'll be able to keep things in order.

Easy to understand?" Kid asked, which made Sun nod thoughtfully and Moon to frown.

"You actually expect us to trust your lives with you? A stranger?" Moon asked, which made Kid answer, "That's what I'm paid by and I will comply with it. Why? You worried, Moon?".

"Who's---" Moon was interrupted when Sun suddenly asked, "How about the dungeon we're going to? Would we be safe if we follow through the rules?".

"Perfectly, as long as you didn't lie to me about your marks." Kid answered before saying, "Oh, and also, flow of time within a dungeon is different from the flow of time outside of the dungeon. Rate of completion is also different. For S-class... apparently, though completed for a day in the outside time, it takes about one to two months inside the dungeon. At worse, it takes years so most of those who enter dungeons usually die on it without even getting any help. Of course, as long as you are with me, this won't happen. Just follow my rules and we'll be fine. Still, it doesn't hurt to be a little more knowledgeable about it, isn't it?".

"When will we be leaving?" Sun asked, which made Kid answer, "Just as we agreed. Now".

====================================

"So, this is what a dungeon looks like, huh?" Moon asked as he look at the mouth of a forest dungeon. Kid grinned and answer, "Yes, welcome to the S-class Forest Dungeon, Myriel".

"Is that really its name or you just named it, yourself?" Moon asked, which made Kid answer, "Named it myself but what's the problem? Dungeons are also living creatures so it's fine doing it".

"Dungeons die the moment someone clears it, or have you forgotten that?" Moon asked, which made Kid answer, "You'll be surprised but what that 'death' really is. Of course, that is not my story to say. Anyway, are you ready?"

"Ready." Sun suddenly said, which made Moon sigh and answer, "Let's just go".

"Okay! Let us in now, Myriel!"

With Kid's voice, everything lits up.

====================================

Inside the dungeon, though aware that the scenery they'll see will be composed of things related to the forest, Sun and Moon still couldn't help but be surprised.

Left and right, animals who are herbivorous in nature peeked at them, interested, with Kid stepping near in the nearest animal, a bird with the mark of a God with it, and patting it.

"Welcome to level one of dungeon Myriel. How does it look?"

"Enchanting."

"That's the least of what you can see here. Come follow me." Kid said before stepping between the trees.

The two followed her and couldn't help but be awed by the sights that they barely managed to keep Kid's words in mind regarding the things they see in the dungeon.

Kid doesn't mind it and just continued to talk about the dungeon - relaying information of what they want to know about things such as the identity of the plants in a forest dungeon, the traps, and many others.

The system continued up until the 10th floor, where Kid warned them that she doesn't know the dangers on those floors. With that, they continued cautiously.

"Omnivores, huh?" Kid murmured upon seeing the species inside the floor and began relaying the information of each and everyone on it while keeping an eye to her surroundings.

"I take it you've never been on the 11th floor?" Sun asked, which made Kid nod.

"Yes, which is why I'm slightly surprised by the traps and these creatures I see. I guess dungeons are not that different, afterall." Kid answered before telling them about the things within the floor.
