Chapter 6 - Chapter 4: The Twist of Fate Part IV

Moving ten floors was no small feet for Sun, Moon, and Kid, so after Kid taught them what can be seen on the 11th floor, they camped on the safe zone to rest.

"Well, what do you think? It earned your money, right?" Kid asked, which made Sun answer, "Yes. Thank you for teaching us about this dungeon on the way here, Kid".

"Don't be hasty on trusting this... kid with our safety, Sir Sun. What he can do is still a sight to see." Moon answered, which made Kid shrug and answer, "Can't satisfy everyone in one try, I guess".

"Please have a good rest, Sir. I'll make sure that no monster or anyone will bother you in your sleep." Moon said, which made Kid click her tongue and answer, "That's no good. You have to trust the dungeon just as it trusted you".

"It's protocol for a guard to be in duty when in the wilds", Moon answered. This made Kid shake her head and answer, "That's the thing. We are not in the wild. We are inside of a living dungeon - a dungeon that gave us its trust that we won't hurt it. You really need to change your mindset if you want us to go safely to the other levels. If we fail, it will be on you guys for not comprehending and following what I said".

"You heard him, Moon. Let's go sleep."

"But, sir!"

"No buts."

Kid grinned widely upon seeing Moon's compliance to Sun's request before jumping up on a tree to sleep.

The following days, after avoiding a series of traps, three continued their travel in the dungeon and found themselves in the 16th floor full of carnivores. This alarmed Moon so much that he almost kicked a hyena going for Sun away if not for Sun's interference.

"It's a test. Don't fear it, Moon. Accept it." Kid answered while silently acknowledging Sun's prompt reaction to Moon's quick movements. Moon was too quick that she did not even notice it if not for Sun suddenly grabbing something in the air... that turned out to be Moon's hands.

'I guess losing their weapons doesn't make them any less dangerous', Kid thought before approaching the carnivores and patting them.

"I don't know if I should be amazed of how fearless you are or your stupidity to even think of patting a predator", Moon said.

"I'm not fearless. Just open-minded. And I need to be one if I want to keep doing this job", Kid answered back before relaying to them what is in the floor.

With traps worse than the last, it took the three of them two weeks to reach Floor 20, where they were suddenly met with tablet warning them of almost impossible traps that will test their very ideals.

"Looks like we won't be able to use the guild-issued teleportation device from here on it. And also, trials will be faced in order to completely leave the dungeon - almost impossible trials that may cause curses, diseases, or even loss of life... or limb", Kid said upon reading the tablet near the entrance of Floor 21.

"That's it, huh? Let's go back---" Moon was interrupted when Sun suddenly said, "Let's continue", with a determined look on his eyes.

"Sir! We can't do this! You might die! And we don't have any weapons that can save us from any traps here---" Moon was interrupted when Sun gave him a comforting smile.

"We have him, don't we? The only person we need to pass through these trials - our hired guide, Kid of Far Village", Sun said, which surprised both Moon and Kid.

And then, Kid grinned.

"Aw, there's no way I'm going back with such a big expectation on me!" Kid said before stepping in the entrance of Floor 21 and continuing with the words, "Let's go, my dear explorers! Allow this guide to help you explore the dungeon and leave it without a scratch!"

"That's your job", Moon pointed out, which Kid ignored by saying, "Let's go!".

With that, the three stepped into the floor and was greeted with scorching magma.

"Ugh."

"...."

"Let's see. Only those who are worthy will be able to pass through this test and go to the next floor. Show me the strength of your mind, explorers..." Kid said while reading a tablet.

She grinned at the floor and said, "Simple enough!", before stepping into the magma - an act that alarmed the two men with her.

"Observe! I'm your guide but I won't be giving you all the answers! You'll need to find those answers yourself! Now, come and get me!" She grinned before moving towards the end of the magma... near the entrance of the next floor.

"Why, you little---"

"Can you do it one more time?" Sun asked, which made Kid grin and step on the magma again, this time, on a different position. And then, she kept switching into different areas and not sticking on one place for more than five seconds. What was noticeable was the smoke on the magma, where she move when the smoke starts going up - with her avoiding an explosion a shy away from her former position. Noticing all these, Sun moved the same way as Kid, and to his surprise, it did not hurt, and his reaction caused the alarmed Moon to copy his movements.

"Good job!" Kid exclaimed before jumping out of the magma and waiting for them at the entrance.

Sun came first, followed by Moon, and the two of them was visibly exhausted. What took them out of their stupor was a ping in their Menu, a special ability that allows them to see their characteristics and blessings without other people looking at it.

[Small Blessing of the Goddess of Life and Healing x1 - Use to make a wish to the goddess of life for any ailment you wish to heal. Can only be used once.]

Sun and Moon looked at each other in surprise, before glancing at Kid who is already reading the tablet for the next floor.

"More of this type of challenge will appear in the next floor. Be sure to make use of what you learned in 21 and apply it on the others if you wish to really see me."

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go deeper!" Kid exclaimed to the two before moving for the next floor.
