Sasha standing in the corner attracted attention from a lot of men. Some of them came forward and asked her to dance with them but their stares made her uncomfortable so she politely rejected them.
"May I have this dance?" Neil asked in a gentlemanly manner.
"Neil...? What are you doing here?" Sasha asked in a surprised tone.
"Kelvin Shore, my boss..." Neil shrugged.
"Yeah..." Sasha nodded with a thin smile.
"Would you care to dance with me?" Neil asked.
"Sorry. But I don't know how to dance."
"It's fine. I'll guide you." The man had no intention of giving up.
"I'll pass."
"You just have to follow my lead," Neil said soothingly.
"Well do not blame me if I embarrass you on the dance floor in front of everybody," Sasha placed her hand in his.
Neil held her hand and led her onto the dance floor, then placed one hand on her slender waist while resting the other on her shoulder.
Sasha took a deep breath and followed his feet. He was careful and he made her feel comfortable.
"See, you are enjoying the dance," Neil said, seeing her smiling face.
As Jennifer watched Neil hug Sasha's waist, She was almost shouted, "What the heck? Is She already dating someone?"
Ryan, who was not far away from the hall balled his hands into fists. His eyes sharpened into daggers.
----
Sasha trotted straight to the restroom and headed for the faucet after leaving the hall. She didn't go back straight to the hall. She was having her time alone standing on a small balcony. However, she had only just looked up when she froze in place at the sight before her.
Upon seeing Sasha, Ryan shifted slightly and leaned against the doorjamb, his gaze locking with hers.
"Ryan...?" Sasha couldn't hide her surprise, eyeing him curiously as she asked, "Why... What are you doing here?."
Having heard her question, Ryan raised a brow as he surveyed her face with mild amusement and answered flatly, "I was waiting for you."
"Waiting for me?." Sasha instinctively craned her neck and peered over his shoulder. However, she saw only an empty hallway, with no sign of anyone.
Sasha wondered if he was drunk as the situation is weird. She cleared her throat and said, "Jennifer is waiting for me. I shall head back first."
"Stop!" Ryan took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket before drawing a cigarette out of it. He lit it up, but he merely let it burn without taking a puff.
Ryan stared at her quietly for a while. After a minute or so, he finally broke the silence lingering in the hallway. "I like you. Go out with me."
Instantly, the atmosphere became stifling as Sasha stood dumbstruck in place, feeling uncomfortable.
"What's with that look? You should say something." Ryan seemed to be amused by her stupefied demeanour, for his chest trembled slightly as he finished his sentence with a note of affection that even he didn't notice.
Sasha, however, clenched her fists tightly as her voice instantly hoarsened. "Stop kidding me, Director Shore. This joke isn't funny at all."
As she said this, she tried to steer past him to leave. However, she had only just taken a step when he pulled her back and pinned her against the wall. He placed both his hands on either side of her head and tilted his head down.
"I'm not kidding you. No matter how hard I try, I just couldn't stay away from you. My eyes keep shifting to you whenever you are within my sight." His eyes were so deep and expressionless; it was as if there was a deep spring in them that wanted to suck Sasha right into it when he stared at her quietly.
Sasha's heart suddenly jumped. Turning her head away, she tried to push the man before her with her hands clenched into fists as she was desperate to leave. "Ryan, I don't have time to play this kind of game with you—"
Ryan frowned listening to her. "Why do you think that I'm joking or just playing around with you?." He asked her, pressing her for an answer.
"There is no reason for you to like me," Sasha said to him, her voice barely a whisper but Ryan caught on to it.
"So, if I tell you the reason you will get out with me, right?" Ryan looked straight into her eyes until her pupils reflected nothing else but himself.
A trace of panic crept over her face, and there was a hint of puzzlement in her eyes. Of course, she didn't believe that Ryan had taken a fancy to her.
H-How could this be possible?! she thought to herself.
"Okay, I will give you some time." A lazy, devilish smile played on his lips as he looked at her. "Let's go. We shouldn't keep the others waiting."
With that, he turned and made his way toward the stairs, as though nothing ever happened between them.
Heaving out a long sigh, Sasha closed her eyes. He was not drunk—in fact, he looked soberer than she was.
