Chapter 16 - Phone call.

When Sasha was on the way to Jal cafe, it suddenly rained, and it got considerably heavier. As she alighted from the bus, she had to cover her head with her bag and rush in.

The path was very close to the hall, but because of the heavy rain, Sasha still got wet, and her whole body was trembling when the cold wind blew.

When Patrick saw Sasha, he immediately brought her a towel.

"Thank you." Sasha dried her hair with the towel and spoke to Patrick. "How are you feeling?."

"Fine...I simply felt unwell." Patrick replied with an unpleasant expression.

"Sasha Jones!."

Sasha looked at the entrance of the cafe, just in time to meet a couple.

Adam was, as usual, dressed in a suit. His hair was cut short. The woman in his arms was clad in a strapless dress. Her long hair cascaded down to her waist, and her light makeup was beautifully done. They were, cuddling closely with each other.

"Sasha, Do you still work here?." Mabel's lips quirked up into a smile.

"I…" Sasha's mind went blank at Adam's sudden appearance. She simply stares dumbly at the sight before her.

Those two were engaged, so it was perfectly normal that this would happen. And yet Sasha felt suffocated like she was a beat behind everyone.

Mabel's lips curved at the sight of Sasha's awful expression, but it disappeared in a flash.

"Okay. See you, Sasha." She bid goodbye to Sasha.

Patrick sensed from Sasha's doleful expression that something was wrong. Concerned, he asked, "What's the matter?"

"Nothing... " Sasha forced a smile.

For about fifteen minutes Sasha talks with Patrick related to business. When She went out of the room, she saw that it was still raining, so she went to the front desk to ask for an umbrella.

Not only was it raining heavily outside, but it was also cold. When she was about to rush out, her wrist was tightly grabbed.

When Adam felt how cold the woman's hands were, his eyes darkened. "I'll send you back."

"Mind your own business." Sasha tried hard to pull her hand.

Adam noticed the discomfort and stubbornness on her face, and annoyance filled his heart. "The weather is so bad. I'll send you back."

"I will handle myself." Sasha snapped before she quickly rush out.

It was pitch–dark inside when Sasha entered the apartment. In the dim light from the outside, she took off her shoes and walked over to the living room sofa wearily. Lying down on the sofa, she closed her eyes without saying a word.

When Sasha woke up in the hotel, it was already the next morning. She remembered being caught in the rain last night and catching a cold, but when she woke up, she felt refreshed.

Next day...

"Miss Sasha, Our team chooses you as a member of Team A." The project Manager announced.

Upon hearing that, Sasha was stunned. She quickly packed her stuff and headed out of the conference room as she mumbled, "I'll do my best."

She hurried out of the conference room and walk toward the lift. When Sasha arrived in front of the elevator, fortunately for her, the doors slid open with a ding.

"Hey! what are you doing? You can't use that..." One of the security yelled as he hurried over.

Upon raising her head, she felt as if her whole body stiffened.

Currently, standing in the lift were three elite white-collar employees at some distance from one another, and all of them were dressed in immaculate suits. The man standing impassively in front of her was none other than Ryan Shore.

"Get in!" Ryan said blandly, startling all the people present there.

Sasha waved her hand, as though she was about to say that she would wait for the next lift but Mathew who had caught up with her without her notice, gave her a gentle push from behind.

Sasha slowly lowered her head as she apologized, "I'm sorry Director Shore, I didn't know it was your private elevator."

"No problem," Ryan said as he looked down at her because of the advantage of his height.

At that moment, Sasha was startled by her ringing phone. She took a glance at Ryan before picking up her phone from her pocket. It was James calling.

What does he want now?

Sasha quickly rejected the call.

Ryan caught a quick glimpse at the caller's name, 'James'.

A frown appeared on Ryan's face when he saw it was a guy calling.

When the lift arrived at the first floor, a few men exited the lift one after another.

As soon as Ryan walked into his office, the look on his face was enough to read Mathew that Ryan was not in good mood.

Mathew narrowed his eyes and asked, "What's the matter?."

Ryan sat down on the couch with his slender legs crossed. "Do you have any idea James was hanging out with?."

Upon hearing this, Mathew glanced over with a strange smile. "Don't tell me...!".
