After hashing out the details, Damon, despite my protests, pushes my wheelchair back to my room where I discover that Kira's room is directly across from mine.
After the eventful day, I struggle to push myself back into bed where I sigh... "*Sigh* This is going to be a long few months." Before drifting off to sleep with Sammy carefully wrapping himself around my waist.
A couple days passed uneventfully. The most exciting thing was when Lucille, my personal maid came by to drop off some fresh clothes and my school tablet. Which I used to get some highlights on the most glaring differences in this world from mine... And boy is it crazy.
First off, Merica Vespucci discovered modern-day North America, or Merica as it's called. But it wasn't a peaceful encounter. Due to nearly a century of secret raids by Viking clans, the native Americans were exposed to the diseases of the new world much more thoroughly.
And after the diseases decimated their population, the disparate tribes formed a singular coalition of tribes to fight off the Viking incursions. Causing early colonization efforts by European powers to fall short and in order to curb this primitive empire that had a firm hold on most of North America, the European powers had to stop squabbling between each other and jointly work towards expanding their territory.
Which would prove to be a great folly, as once the colonies of this world's equivalent of France, England, Spain, and Portugal, which in this timeline colonized from the Yukatan peninsula all the way down to the northern tip of South Merica. South Merica, which was actually colonized by a coalition of Swedish, Dutch, and Germanic microstates formed to combat the alliances of the other European powers. Which allowed them to consolidate control over most South Merica.
And as for why consolidating their few North Merican and Central Merican colonies was a bad idea. Well, after decades of trading with each other and fighting against the indigenous hordes together, they saw greater commonality between each other than with their parent country.
So after a period of rapid industrialization, the United States of Merica was formed and declared its independence from its parental nations. Sponsored by their Southern neighbors who had received equal representation within the coalition of microstates that had given rise to another union of microstates in South Merica.
And after a series of pitched battles, the United States of Merica successfully gained its independence. And negotiated a cease-fire with the Tribal Coalition as it is known collegially today. With the northern border matching the battle lines of my world's American Civil war, with the southern border digging slightly into the northern tip of South Merica.
The islands outside the gulf of Mexico are compromised of a number of well-off merchant republics that flourished in the trading between the old and new world nations.
And there's so much more that has diverged all over the world, most shocking of all was another continent roughly the size of Australia between Asia and North America, but I got overwhelmed and decided to leave the rest to my 'tutor' as I moved towards researching the technological and scientific differences, which proved to be my saving grace.
