Black-robed Cultist POV:
"You're telling me that one man who is not even a part of the country's elite Royal Guards managed to foil our plans!?!
(The snivelling servant in front of me trembled and stuttered with his reply.)
"Y-y-yes s-s-sir!"
The cultist's anger boiled at this miserable filth's response.
"Not only did you fail to provide us with information about this person who captured one of our best agents, but you are also audacious to show up empty-handed!"
"I-I-I had no idea that he was capable of such feats!"
"Oh?"
(This was interesting. It seems like this filthy servant does have some intel on who captured Edger, who was one of the best we had in our organization.)
"Spit it out, you lowlife. What do you know about him?"
"H-h-his name is Enjento S-S-Supai, and h-h-he appeared in the palace more than two weeks ago."
"N-n-no one knows who he is or where he c-c-came from b-b-but he quickly rose through the ranks w-w-with various contributions to the kingdom and gained h-h-his Majesty's favour."
"Hoh? What sort of contributions are we talking about?"
"T-t-that I can't tell."
"Do you think a mere dog like yourself has the right to withhold information from me without consequences?"
The cultist summoned a small fireball in the palm of his hand for extra emphasis.
"I-I-I really can't tell! The man keeps all of his plans classified! S-s-some say that even the King doesn't know what they are!"
(This was interesting. What sort of plans could this man have that he would even keep it a secret from the King?)
(And with his plans kept secret, how do the King and his court let him do whatever he wants? This man must have the King deeply indebted to him, or the King has some trick to keep him in check.)
(Either way, he'll be a big nuisance in the Sons' plans.)
"Hmph! It seems that you may still have some use to us. I'll give you another chance, and you better not botch this up."
"Y-y-yes, sir!"
"First off, I want you to steal this Enjento's classified plans for the Kingdom."
"U-u-understood."
"Second, I want you to.....
Kill him."
"W-w-what?"
"I said to kill him, you deaf retard!"
"T-t-that's i-i-impossible."
(What did this snivelling b*stard say to me?)
The cultist's eyes grew cold.
"I dare you to say that one more time."
"I really can't! He'll make me go through unspeakable horrors before ending my life!"
(What? The dog is more afraid of some random bogeyman that popped out of nowhere than our Brotherhood's God. I must give this Enjento person my respect for instilling such fear into the hearts of these useless rabbles.)
(Looks like I have no choice but to offer this piece of garbage a carrot, not that I'll give it to him in the end.)
"Do it, and the Brotherhood will give you a position among our ranks."
"R-r-really?"
The servant seemed to go through an inner dilemma before reaching a decision.
"A-a-alright! I'll do it!"
"Oh! While you are at it if you also manage to complete the botched kidnapping. I can ensure you a higher rank among our Brotherhood."
The servant became hesitant about directly taking part in kidnapping the Princess, but his greed and fear of the cult got the best of him.
"W-w-where do I bring the princess?"
"Take her to the inn, "Barny's Barrow." Some of my colleagues should be there ready to transport the Princess to one of the Brotherhood's bases."
(Excellent, with this, I'll avenge Brother Edger's death, get rid of an annoying obstacle and complete the first steps of our grand plan!)
Enjento Supai POV:
(Alright, I think I heard enough.)
Enjento removed his earbuds and put the pocket radio back into my suit. Then, he took out a grey cylindrical metal tube resembling a flashbang filled with sleeping gas (sleep grenade) and a gas mask. After putting on the gas mask, he gently chucked the flashbang-like grenade toward the chatting pair.
The tube fell to the ground with a gentle clang and slowly rolled forwards.
Having heard the soft clang. The traitor servant and unknown cultist stopped their conversation and turned their heads to see the sleep grenade next to them. When they began reacting, it was too late. The sleep grenade released its contents and sent them to dreamland, which would soon become a nightmare.
"Yosh, time to lock these guys up in a dungeon."
Enjento went to pick up the cultists and drag them back to the cell, where he interrogated the guy they called Edger. As he was about to pick them up, he glanced at his clockwork watch to see if he had time to go back to the dungeon, and the time it showed shocked him.
"Crap! I've only got five minutes and twenty-three seconds until I'm late for the audience with the King!"
"Aww, no! What do I do!?!"
"Oh, wait!"
Remembering that person he had a contract with, Enjento chanted a spell.
"Come forth, mistress of shadows,
harbinger of death and war,
the one who blesses brave warriors with victory and glory
and curses the cowards with misery and death.
Heed my call, answer my summons,
so that the enemies of the innocent meet their end
with naught but despair."
"Come forth, Morrigan."
As he was chanting, a complicated purple-black magic circle appeared beneath his feet and grew ever brighter with each chant. Eventually, the hallway became bathed in a bright purple light.
When the light faded away, a woman in a black veil and Victorian-era style dress stood at the center of where the magic circle had been.
"Whom is it that summons me to do thy bidding?"
"Alright, cut it out. You know I'm the only one that'll ever summon you. Morrigan."
"Tch, so it's you."
The woman, Morrigan, crossed her arms and spoke in an annoyed tone.
"You mind supervising these two in your Shadow Space or whatever you call it?"
"It's Shadow Realm! How many times have I told you that!?!"
"Don't know, don't care. I gotta hurry, so see you later."
And with that, Enjento sprinted away before he became late for the audience, leaving an annoyed and raging Morrigan behind.
Morrigan POV:
"THAT @#>?*)"!@:"
"I'm a ------ for, goodness sake! And this is how he treats me!"
Taking a moment to calm down, she looked at the two people her contractor told her to supervise and saw the black snake mark on the cultist, which made her eyes grow in surprise.
"Oh? So "that person" has finally begun moving after several centuries, eh?"
Knowing what this meant, she gave off a delighted giggle.
"Finally! I'll soon get to see some real action!"
After her excitement wore off, the entire castle hallway floor got covered in shadow and tentacles of varying sizes came out and dragged the unconscious servant and cultist into whatever void the tentacles came from. Seeing that the tentacles dragged them into her Shadow Realm, Morrigan compressed the shadows into a rift that closed up as she entered her kingdom.
Enjento Supai POV:
"Whew, looks like I made it on time and with thirty-six seconds to spare!"
Enjento stood before a magnificent giant pair of wooden double doors carved with beautiful images of mythical creatures like unicorns, dragons, elves, satyrs and more fantastical beings Enjento didn't know the name of.
Enjento admired the doors for a few seconds, silently applauding the artist for a few moments before straightening his suit and strode forward to knock on the doors and proclaim his arrival.
"Enjento Supai has arrived at the request of his Majesty."
