Chapter 6 - I'm not staging a coup!

[Author's note: I'll be changing Captain Alessandro's name to Captain Muno Kishi, Captain Muno for short.]

Enjento Supai POV:

"Absolutely not!"

"What on earth are you thinking inviting a foreign army right to the heart of our Kingdom!?!"

"Who knows what they'll do? They might even try to attack us!"

Enjento was in the Throne Room (again), trying to get the King's permission to allow Morrigan's army to enter the Kingdom without raising panic from everyone mistakenly believing them to be invaders.

However, obtaining permission will take more work than he thought due to a certain incompetent knight captain.

"Your Majesty! With respect, inviting an unknown foreign army into our territory is simply foolish! Especially when we have less than a quarter of our army on active duty!"

(What!?! Why do you have less than a quarter of your army on active duty when you have the ever-growing threat of the Demon King to worry about!?!)

"I admit that Enjento-dono's contributions to the Kingdom are outstanding and deserved the rewards given to him, but this time, his demands for allowing a foreign army onto our land are out of the question! There is a chance he could try to stage a coup against you!"

(OH! I see now! This guy is jealous of my achievements and is very ambitious! Now I get it! This cunning b*stard must have been acting dumb and incompetent on purpose, trying to lure me into a false sense of security! Then, when I make a significant demand no one can see working in the long term, he'll jump in, acting like the hero and making me look like some official who got drunk on power and plans to dethrone the King!)

(Unfortunately for him, I've dabbled in politics and faced grander schemes than this. What Captain Muno is doing is nothing more than child's play compared to the vicious cutthroat politicians back on Earth.)

(All I need to do is tell them that the army is my Familiar or my Familiar's Familiar, and they'll let it slide. I also have the argument that the list of potential candidates they sent me was all trash. I wonder who it was that sent those resumes? If I find out, they better be prepared for a beat-down

[Author's note: For those who never read a fantasy novel. A Familiar is generally a magical creature, animal or being contracted by a wizard as their servant.]

In truth, Captain Muno was merely worrying about the King giving Enjento too much power. However, Enjento doesn't know that resulting in Captain Muno facing a lot of hardships in the future, but that's a story for later chapters.

"Your Majes-"

"Captain Muno, don't you think you are being unreasonable."

The one who interrupted Enjento was Princess Elisia, who was also in the Throne Room.

(What is she doing here!?!)

(Isn't she supposed to go to her studies after the conferring ceremony where I was given authority equivalent to the Prime Minister, allowed to establish an Intelligence Agency and given an absurd amount of funding!?!)

Despite his shock, Enjento continued keeping his poker face up. After all, he learned his lesson from the last audience after his mask fell off after hearing the absurd amount of funding he was given.

"Enjento-sama had several chances to ditch Aldonia for a far greater nation like the Enlandian Empire or Seinaru Theocracy. Having such a talented individual like Enjento-sama leave our Kingdom just because we refuse to allow such a small demand will be a great blow to our country."

"Your Highness, just because his contributions are great. This doesn't mean we can let him do whatever he wants!"

Princess Elisia became annoyed at Captain Muno's stubbornness.

"What do you mean to let him do whatever he wants?"

"It's as I said! We can't let him do whatever he wants like he owns this Kingdom!"

"But doesn't he already pretty much own the Kingdom?"

"WHAT!?!"

Captain Muno, the guards present, and even the King were surprised by Princess Elisia's answer.

"Think about it. In less than a month, Enjento-sama arrested dozens of corrupt nobles who have been like a parasite to the Kingdom, reformed several outdated systems, introduced advanced agricultural techniques that solved our Kingdom's famine crisis and recently saved me from an evil cultist."

"Captain Muno, please tell me if any of my ancestors can achieve such feats in such a short time?"

"And if none of them are capable, isn't Enjento-dono more than qualified to lead our nation?"

"That's..."

Captain Muno was at a loss for words. Thinking for a few moments, he kneeled.

"I apologize for my rudeness. I was too short-sighted to see the benefits Enjento-dono might bring to the Kingdom."

"I also apologize to Enjento-dono for my misgivings despite all the benefits you have brought to this Kingdom."

Princess Elisia nodded.

"As long as you are ashamed of your words, I won't drag this out any further. Now is there anyone else who would like to raise their objections?"

The whole Throne Room remained silent.

"Excellent!"

She turned to face Enjento.

"Enjento-sama, you have permission from the Royal Family to invite the army over."

Having thrown the ball to him, Enjento decided to give Captain Muno a little payback.

"I thank you, your highness, for allowing me to hire personnel from abroad since the applicants sent to me were all quite lacking."

With that said, he shot a piercing glare at Captain Muno, who saw his gaze and looked away with sweat pouring down his face.

Princess Elisia looked surprised at Enjento's words.

"Oh, really? I thought Captain Muno sent you the resumes of some of the Kingdom's finest talents. It looks like we may need to reform the military. When Enjento-sama has time, could you please re-train the army? That will also include the Royal Guard."

"With pleasure, your Highness."

Enjento gave a demonic grin that made Captain Muno's face pale as a paper sheet.

"In fact, there are some members in the army I'm inviting over who could give Royal Guard excellent tips and quite the vigorous training. On that note, they'll be coming via teleportation or summoning."

"Also, they may appear "strange." So please don't shoot them on site."

A castle guard burst through the doorway out of breath as if on cue.

*Huff!*

*Huff!*

"Your Majesties!"

*Huff!*

*Huff*

"It's an emergency!"

Princess Elisia looked at Enjento with raised eyebrows.

"I presume this might be related to your army."

"Most likely, yes."

"Messenger, what's the emergency?"

Having caught his breath, the castle guard straightened himself and said what the emergency is.

"A large army of the Undead suddenly appeared on the training grounds. What do we do!?!"
