Enjento Supai: POV
"Now that all seven Generals are here. Let's commence the meeting."
"First off."
Enjento clicked a button on a remote control, and the screen behind him projected the image of a horde of monsters and demons gathering in a wasteland.
"My Stealth Drones have detected a large gathering of the Demon King's forces on Demon Territory."
"Unfortunately, the Drones' audio recording systems got broken due to a certain numbskull playing around with my gadgets and nearly permanently breaking them. So we don't know what they are planning."
Enjento glared at Sukeru, who looked away, whistling.
"Based on the limited information we have. I assume that information about the Hero somehow got leaked to the Demons, probably by the guys from the new cult, Sons of Satanos, and the Demons want to launch a preemptive attack to get rid of the Hero before he gets too strong."
"Anyways, I want Yurei and Bahamut to go to the Demon Territories, the both of you will have different jobs. Yurei will be in charge of infiltration and getting ahold of the enemy's plans. Meanwhile, Bahamut will use his authority and dominance over most monsters in the Demon King's army to command them to wreak havoc among the Demon King's ranks; this should delay the Demon Invasion for a few weeks at best."
"The mission's duration will be one week. Yurei, if you don't discover any important, worthwhile information, regroup with Bahamut and return to Aldonia. Am I clear?"
Yurei shook her head fervently while Bahamut gave a slight nod and growl in acknowledgement.
"Good next off, the re-education of the Undead Army."
Muteki, Aku, and Andeddo raised their hands at the mention of re-education.
"Sir." (Aku)
"My liege." (Muteki)
"Chosen One." (Andeddo)
"Permission to speak?" x3
"Permission granted."
"Chosen One, I will speak for the three of us since we all had the same question in mind, and that is. Why does the army need to go through re-education? Haven't you witnessed the army's prowess on the battlefield? Unless the entire continent stood united against us, any country alone would stand no chance of winning."
Enjento smiled, having expected the question.
"Chief General, I understand that my decision to make the army go through re-education may seem insulting. However, you'll soon understand why after Sukeru gives his report on a secret project I asked him to work on."
"In the meantime, why don't you three take a quick look at the book I plan on giving everyone."
Enjento took out a box filled with books and gave one to each general in the room. For Bahamut, he gave an extra large one made out of steel so he wouldn't tear it apart with his claws.
[A few minutes of reading later.]
"This is simply..." x3
"Outstanding!" (Andeddo)
"Truly an art!" (Aku)
"Dishonourable!" (Muteki)
Andeddo and Aku looked at Muteki with questioning stares.
"What do you mean dishonourable!?! When was their honour in warfare!?! We've razed entire cities to the ground along with the innocent elderly, women and children!" (Andeddo)
"And do you expect that when you are at war with an enemy, they'll send you a nice, fancy and polite letter asking you when and where you would like to have a battle? ABSOLUTE BULL****!!!" (Aku)
Muteki shrunk back in his chair at the sudden outburst from the two and got forced to sit in a corner by Andeddo and Aku, where he squatted, tracing circles on the ground with his finger muttering incoherent words under his breath.
"We offer our sincerest apologies, Chosen One. It seems that our past glory upon the battlefield has blinded us to the sorry, outdated state that our army is in."
Enjento gave a wry smile at Andeddo's enthusiasm.
"Don't look down on yourself that much. For a medieval army, living in a medieval era, who also never read this book, you guys fight very well."
"However, the main reason I wish to retrain the Undead army is that I'll equip them with new weapons they will have to learn new tactics and drills for; this is where the project Sukeru was working on comes in."
Sukeru stood up and bowed, then began his report on the secret project Enjento tasked him with to work on in secret.
*Rattle!*
*Rattle!*
"Indeed, the Mistress' Favorite has tasked me with mass-producing a substance called gunpowder. An explosive black sand-like powder. Which will be used in weapons called the "cannon" and the "musket."
"With my alchemical skills, I have managed to produce a simple formula to create gunpowder by mixing sulphur farmers use in fertilizers, charcoal and saltpetre, another powder commonly used in farming. After various tests and failures, I have found the perfect-."
*Ahem!*
Sukeru looked at Enjento, who had just cleared his throat and gave a look that said, "get to the point."
The Lich scratched the back of his skull embarrassedly and continued speaking.
"Sorry for rambling a bit there. If we were to get to the point, with Enjento's knowledge, I managed to find a way to mass-produce new weapons that could change the rules of traditional warfare as we know it. As well as potentially render magic and martial prowess as obsolete."
The generals jaw-dropped at the bombshell.
"Thank you for the presentation Sukeru."
Sukeru sat back down, and the generals quickly came to their senses after Enjento began to speak.
"As you can see, this is why I want the Undead army to be re-trained."
"The weapons Sukeru is developing do not fit well with the strategies and tactics of the current era."
"And, if we want to be able to topple powerful beings like the Girishan Gods, we need to think outside the box. We can't continue practicing outdated methods while others discover new ways to achieve victory."
"Sukeru, tell me how many successful prototypes you developed."
"Yes, my Milord. I have roughly five "cannons" and a hundred or so "muskets."
Enjento nodded.
"Excellent! Andeddo, Muteki, and Aku meet me in the training grounds with a hundred and twenty soldiers two to three hours after this. Also, prepare some targets."
"Understood!"
"Sukeru, focus on producing muskets and cannons; we can talk about developing new weapons or giving the upgrades later."
"Yes, milord!"
"Are my orders clear?"
"Yessir!" x4
"Alright, the six of you who I gave assignments, you may be dismissed."
Andeddo, Yurei, Aku, Muteki, Bahamut and Sukeru left the conference office through a portal, leaving Enjento alone with the last remaining general, Scathach.
