"Aondofa!" he called in my nativity "What is this that you are moving up and down doing? Everyone is on my neck for the preaching you are going about doing. What is this madness all about?"
"Daddy! What I'm going about in the village doing doesn't really count if my coming here doesn't yield any result from your own lif..."
"nk nk!" My dad cut in not allowing me place a full stop "I have warned you to count me out of this your Jesus talk. I give you people full access to go to church and serve God, but this on you is becoming madness. No one slept in this house last night. You were praying ontop your gut calling for the salvation of Buruku as if anyone told you that Bururku is about to be invaded." My dad yelled
"Daddy I am sorry, but I'm doing this for the eternal love I have for you, the family and the entire Buruku community. I was right there, where the enemies plot to come after everyone of my family members. Please daddy I besiege you to give your life to Jesus so that you can be saved and born again." I pleaded
"What born again are you talking about? is it not enough that I'm a Christian? I asked you yesterday and you told us that to be born again means I have to throw out all the things handed over to me by the fathers. Who taught you to disregard tradition David? You are just but a boy of yesterday and you have decided to waste your life after gullible Christianity. If this sort of Christianity is what the people of Buruku practice, I would have long stoped any of you in this family from attending that church." He threatened
"Dad! There is more to this faith than being called a Christian or going to church. Many who are called Christians or who go to church are not born again. They have not surrendered their lives to Jesus as their personal Lord and savior. They are still living as they wish to live. Salvation is turning away from all ways of darkness and accepting Jesus into your life as your Lord and savior." I explained
My dad sighed and exhaled heavily then asked me to call the rest of the family members to the sitting room.
This was evening, the earth had whiled away from the sun to sleep and lighted the moon as her lamp for the bed time.
With my dad's facial expression, I was glad thinking I had won the battle as I excitedly called in everyone for a round table discussion.
"nk nk!" my dad cleared his throat "ehn Aondofa! When did you say you are returning back to your uncle's place?"
"Tomorrow daddy!" I answered
"That's good!" He said and pushed his body to the edge of the cushion with a tight countenance that confused me.
"Going back tomorrow is good, otherwise I would have demanded you return back to your uncle tomorrow and face your studies." He yelled causing everyone to turn gazes at each other.
"Ah ah! I hope everything is okay?" My mom broke her silence.
"Everything is not okay! Now listen to me woman, this your son that wants to turn wayward is returning back to his uncle tomorrow. I do not want this madness he calls born again or whatever to be contracted by any of you, otherwise I will stop everyone from going to that church." He pointed at the direction of the church.
"Now to you young one, from now till you return back tomorrow, I do not want to hear of anything you came with again. Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes sir!" I answered and bowed out of his presence to my room with the rest of my brothers.
Before the earth awoken the next day and set off her lamp, my mom came to the door and called me secretly into the kitchen for a talk.
I entered the kitchen with fire already set. I and mom sat side by side and I enlightened her more about true Christianity that is beyond religious Worship. To the glory of God, my mom gave her life to Jesus and I prayed with her.
"Thank you my son. I shall do everything to direct your siblings aright. Regarding your father, we will be praying for him considering that he is a difficult man. Only God can tell the possibility of him turning away from idol Worship.
When the day had fully break and I set sail to depart, I waved goodbye to everyone and departed for the city.
"This is the last time you are going to set eyes on your father in this world." My heart began to tell me, but I rebuked it, promising that he was going to be saved.
While retuning back in the bus, my eyes began to drop tears. I couldn't tell why exactly this was happening, but of surety I was sorrowed haven failed to save my dad and turn him away from destruction.
When I arrived back to City, I spent my time praying for him during the night for many hours, crying and pouring out myself to the Lord for mercy to be shown onto him.
Then I passed out into a trance where I saw my angel standing with a gloomy face.
"David! You have done your best to save your father. It is a pity his hour is soon at hand." He spoke to me.
"But the Lord should answer my petition and stir his heart to repentance. I do not want any of my family members to suffer the agony of hell." I pleaded
"There is a curse upon the life of your father David, and it is placed on him by the Lord for ..." Then he paused and I saw another mighty angel descending from heaven down to earth where I stood with mine.
When he landed, my angel spoke up thus; "He has been sent by the Lord to take you on a journey to explain to you what you must know for why there is a curse upon the life of your father.
Still startled in what was going on, I felt a compelling to move toward the other angel and as I did, we began a journey that would take us back in time where I would be shown the activities that brought the gospel into the land of Buruku and what happened thereafter.
