"Warrior of the Buruku people, the arm with which the gods fight their battles. What is it that has brought you to me?" Or u Akombu (Chief priest) asked Ake Agure Kyume the commander.
"Wise one, you asked not because you know not the reason for my coming but only as an act of wisdom.
The king of the Ndehma people has rebelled against the king and the people of Buruku. As it is our custom, I am mandated to come to you for fortification and and direction." He spoke up.
"Ha ha haa! Welcome arm of the gods. Follow me!" He demanded and Ake Agure Kyume followed him to another extension of the shrine where he was shown what was happening in the kingdom of Ndehma on an animal skin.
The king of Ndehma had formed a strong alliance with other surrounding Kingdoms in preparation for the battle ahead.
"So he is not alone?" Kyume asked
"Far from it! This battle is one of a kind and there has not been any like it. it is going to be fierce and blood will dance upon the surface of the earth and be burried within." The priest declared.
Ake Agure Kyume smiled, hit his chest hard and burned with anger! "Now I have gotten what I have been looking for - a day I would face Kingdoms in battle and expell my powers for the slaughter." He boasted.
"The Ndehma kindred had also gone into the forest to consult with one of the strongest priest in a distant kindred. I would have gone there to kill him, but if I kill their priest in whom they trust so much, they may become afraid and refrain from fighting. So I will also be on the battlefield with the priest and kill him the moment the battle begins." The priest explained.
"That is impressive wise one, the eye of the gods of our people." Ake Agure Kyume praised
"What is my fortification?"
"Get your daughter ready! She is going to be on the front line with you and lead a section of the warriors to attack first. When the Ndehmas sees her, they will laugh at her not knowing that she is a sword on her on. As she kills and slaughters, your son will lead his battalion. The Ndehmas will have two front liners to Chase and you will slaughter from behind like the wind." The priest explained.
"My daughter? I want to fall in first otherwise they would think I am a coward. I want to look them eye to eye and cutoff their guts.
About my daughter..." He paused and became calm.
"This is the instruction of the gods Ake Agure Kyume and you know your daughter too well. She is no different from your son who slays like the blade of the spirit.
When the Ndehmas are confused on the battlefield on every side, then you shall emerge like the gods and fall upon them with the sword, spilling their blood to the floor.
Follow me!" The priest instructed and he followed.
Tonight, you shall begin the ritual. You will sleep in the water for twenty four hours. This will make you too slippery for the enemy to take hold of. Second; you will be locked up in a contest with the lion and two hyenas as custom demands. After defeating them which surely you will, you will go into the evil forest and spend a night with the gods and your ancestors." The priest explained.
Fighting these animals for sure would be the easiest thing for Kyume as he would snap their breath with the slip of his hand.
With all preparations on ground, King Zaki sent the second later to the Ndehma kindred asking them to meet him in battle in four days time.
(Later that evening)
[Kyume's daughter and son stood before him as he addressed them. The son had a slight resemblance of my father. I wanted asking but remained silent to observe things for myself]
"The battle between we and the Ndehma kindred is four days away. I will be going for fortification. Muster the army and get ready. Each of you will lead the band into the sections of the enemy and I will cover from behind to completely destroy the nations that rallies with them. I want the heads of all the kings taken alive."
"Yes father! That's some exciting news." The two said walking away and Ake Agure Kyume smiled as he devoured the yam with palm oil placed before him in a calabash.
After days of preparation, the army and warriors of Buruku kindred were ready and set for battle.
