Chapter 19 - THE BATTLEFIELD

"Where have you been?" I asked the angel that accompanied me.

"I went to take care of some things. Follow me!"

"I have been here for days. I don't know what is happening in the realms of mortals. I'm I returning back from here?" I asked him worried.

"You will return but not so soon. It is seven days in the realms of mortals." He answered

"Do you mean to say I have been here for seven good days?"

"Here, it doesn't count but there, it does. Right now your body is lay on the hospital bed. It is presumed over there that you are partially dead and all efforts to resuscitate you back to full life hasn't yielded result." He explained

"Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Then why don't I return back?

"Do you wish to return back?" he asked

"Mm, no! I know my assignment here isn't completed and more so I want to witness what is going to happen in the battle and the reason for why my father has a curse over his life. I have been thinking if it is as a result of the cruelty of battle but I haven't arrived at a conclusion." I answered him worriedly.

"Follow me!" He instructed and in a mini second we were at the hospital where my body was placed on life support. I also saw my angel stood watch over it.

My family and relatives were all worried to why I slept and never woke up again. Ministers of God were called upon to pray for my restoration but none yielded result. Apostle Anee Zion had confirmed that it was a divine suspension and I was going to be restored back after days, possibly weeks or months.

"What!" I turned to the angel "I'm going to be locked up in the spirit for ages?" I asked him.

"Until the assignment is completed David." He answered

As we were about to depart back into the primitive age to continue with my encounter, I saw troops of armed angels flew into the ward and surrounded my body.

"Why are they surrounding me?" I asked the angel.

"Misha, Varoroths and their cohorts are planning to attack your body tonight. They are not backing off with their plans. They will invade the terrain tonight for a fierce battle. Be sure that light will always win over darkness." He explained.

"Do they know of my suspension?"

"No! Your suspension is hidden from darkness neither those in ages past or present. Misha and her cohorts are battling to know why you have been in the position. The only knowledge they have is that you still have life in you which they are fighting to take. You were suspended in faith and righteousness so the code of righteousness will protect you from all attacks of the devil like a metal shield." The angel explained.

"Don't you think they would possess the medical personnels to inject me with poison?" I asked again.

"That had already been carried out in the first hospital you were taken but your angel withheld the hand of the doctors and nurses that tried. They became awed and demanded that your body be transferred out of the hospital which is why you were brought in here.

Their next strategy is to engage the angels in a physical combat to squeeze life out of you." He explained again

"You have to return now! The battle is already taking place."

"The battle? It's barely a day." I expressed shock.

"Where you are now, there is no time frame other than the things the Lord has sent me to show to you about your life." He explained

"My life! All of these is about me?"

"Yes son of the most high. You were sent to earth for an assignment just as I'm here for am assignment, the difference been that I'm an angel and you are made human. It's time to go, otherwise you will miss the battle."

I couldn't dream of missing the battle. I loved battles and watching men fight especially with swords. I was eager to see how Ake Agure Kyume and her daughter with son were going to fight, and if the the Ndehma kindred would be able to stand their muscles.

We flew back in time and came to a large forest that was soon to turn to an ocean of blood.

IT WAS THE BATTLE

Buruku on one side and Ndehma kindred with her allies on the other side.

Then the warriors of both Kingdoms began chanting war songs, drumming and animals charging up.

A horse man ran from the Buruku side and staged himself at the center of the forest then blew his trumpet seven times and ran back to meet his people.

Another horse man from the Ndehma kindred ran forward and did the same thing. This signifies that the two sides were ready for battle.

Then I heard trumpets blown from both side again and watched one Kingdom from the Ndehma kindred released thousands of dragon looking birds out of their cage. Buruku was in charge of lions and hyenas. These animals both birds, lions and the hyenas were all possessed with the spirit of the gods.

As the dragon birds flew to attack, I saw the chief priest of Buruku; Or u Akombu appeared into the air and caused all the birds to disappear.

By then the lions and hyenas working as a team were already amidst Ndehma and tearing their flesh apart. I could hear wails of warriors as they reported their souls to death.

Gradually, the Ndehma kindred succeeded in killing them but they had wrought great havock and killed about a hundred warriors.

As the animals were being killed, it was time for commander Ake Agure Kyume to send in his daughter and son.

The two of them with their battalions with them charged into the war front on their foot, one going the other way and one another way.

Within seconds, they were face to face with their enemies. They killed and slaughtered with their both hands.

I wached as Kyume's daughter Kwasigande fought and I was impressed, yet at the same time pitied the Ndehmas because of the manner in which both her and her brother were slaying flesh and feeding the forest with blood.

It was time for the warlord himself to proceed. He wanted to lay his bare hands on the kings that had the gut to challenge his power, he sent in the remaining warriors and was left alone.

With swords in both hands, Kyume charged into the war front destroying anything that came by his side. The more he killed, the better he felt and the easier it became for him.

Any king that was found on the battlefield was surrounded by at least five warriors, taken captive and forced into the cage Buruku brought into Battle.

"Blow the trumpet!" He commanded and a warrior ran to have the trumpeter do his job.

When the trumpet was blown, I watched all the warriors of Buruku ran back and formed into a barricade for any enemy that would want to run.

Ake Agure Kyume was now alone on the battle front. Now he had the pleasure to kill to his satisfaction. He slay and on both side and front causing all the warriors of the Ndehma kindred to fall before him. And there was king Ndeh standing before him defeated and overpowered.

Kyume ran to him, as though angered by his personality and about to slay him in two but he stoped and commanded that he be taken alive.

Ten warriors surrounded him and he was captured, locked in cage along others and taken away.

I stood suspended on the air speechless as calm fell in awe. The roaring lions, cackling laughter of the hyenas, brazing of horses, crashing of swords, running of warriors and battle cries was all replaced by awe and a trembling terrain with bodies of mankind and beasts all lying dead.

I flew to join the Buruku kindred as they took their captives away proudly and at the same time tired and exhausted from the battle.

Kyume's son sustained injuries and was rode home in a hurry to be treated.

When Ake Agure Kyume and his warriors arrived home, all the people came out to welcome them with singing and dancing.

As it was a proud custom among them, warriors would be rewarded for their bravely and sacrifices for the land by chosing the women of their choice to marry for wife. It was also an opportunity for the young maidens too to come out and dance to their lovers and make it known to the people whom they have chosen.

The captives of war were brought out and led into the palace where the king sat waiting with all pleasure. Now that the battle ended in favour of him, it would take years before another would have the gut to threaten his dominion, that's if at all any would ever raises a head in his life time and as long as Ake Agure Kyume remained the head over his soldiers.

As the king of Ndehma and his allies were led into the king's presence, they could see skulls of other kings and warriors killed in battle hung on stakes - just matter of days, theirs too would have a place among them.

They would be locked for seven market days to enable the king successfully take over their lands and in-store his leadership. After this, there would be a ceremony that would bring Kingdoms and dignitaries together. Then the kings would be executed and their heads brought before the king in the presence of everyone.

I became sorrowed by this and wished I could cry if I was in my flesh.

Such was the cruelty that existed in times before us. It was eras of BATTLES OF MORTALS. The land in those days had enough of blood to be drunk with on a daily basis.

Then the angel accompanying me appeared before me.

"How was the battle over my body?" I asked

"It was fierce! Misha and Varoroths are injured. The Angels overcame them and drove them away. But they will be back not minding." He answered

"That's good! I have questions on my heart I want to ask you." I said pleadfully.

"Not yet, you will find answers to all your questions as you remain here." The angel said and was out of my view.

Despite the fact that I was a spirit, I was not given the liberty to witness all spiritual activities except for what brought me.

BATTLES OF MORTALS made me feel terrible for the kings and their people taken captive. If I were in my flesh I would refuse to eat and mourn over them.
