Floating on the air like the speed of light, we crossed two generations back in time and came to a primitive age - 110 years behind, such a long time.
It was Thursday September 27, 1883
"David! welcome back in time. Take! write what you see and document it for the generations yet to come." The angel said handing me a silver slate and a pen.
Then he disappeared leaving me to myself. Later on, He would answer my questions and guide me with his voice yet his presence hidden to me.
I was abandoned at the Juncture that divided into four lands. There was four mighty trees at the road leading to each.
I saw skulls of animals hung on each tree but when I turned to the other, I was thrilled to see the skull of a human tied with twisted bark of a tree.
My heart skipped, wondering what lay ahead; the nature of the people in each Kingdom, their ways of life and many other things.
I wanted to proceed to the northern road with the skull of a human but became afraid as it seemed the people in this particular Kingdom would be the most cruel of all, so I turned away but soon realized I was a spirit and returned back to the path.
I floated gracefully, taking sight of all that was contained in the terrain. I mate some of the people retuning from the farm, some going to fetch water and hunters going on hunting.
Ahead of me was what looked like a palace. It was built with high rated trees, dressed with palm fronds and painted with white stripes.
On each side of the road leading to the palace were guards stationed and skulls of defeated warriors in battle hung on stakes, fire burning beside each in clay pots.
As a spirit, I had the natural ability to understand mysteries, except for some few things that the angel explained to me.
I gained the understanding that the skulls hung on the stakes were those of the leading warlords of other Kingdoms the people of Buruku had defeated in battle.
On the throne of the King was a monumental skull resting in-between the arms of the king's seat which was nothing more but twisted fibers of trees neatly designed for the throne.
The skull was that of the reigning king of a notorious Kingdom before his defeat which led to his people becoming slaves to the Buruku kindred.
On the throne sat a powerful dark figure whose face could only be identified by the rolling of his eyeballs.
The task before him was that which the draughtsman wrote down in booklet as a letter to be sent to a Kingdom they have proclaimed war upon.
The letter read thus; "To the people of Ndehma, The King feels displeasure at your refusal to remit taxes. This is a clear act of rebellion to which the consequences are known to you and your people. Any nation under the heavens that does not honor the king by remitting her taxes would be abolished from the face of the earth. This has been the universal law and your Kingdom is fully aware of it. I offer you a treaty to apologise and send your entourage to come for an amendment to your fury otherwise you would have my army face you in battle - King Zaki."
This was written, signed by the king's signet and sent to Ndehma Kingdom whose response arrived two days after;
"To your Royal Highest, King Zaki of Buruku Kingdom and the entire northern territories. I king Ndeh the fourth of the Ndehma kindred wish to inform you that my kindred no long upholds to the laws that binds us as your slaves. We are not Ignorant of the consequences that follows such actions such as we are taking. We are ready to face you in battle to see to the liberation of our people, the Ndehmas - King Ndeh."
Hearing this, King Zaki burned with anger and trashed a sword into one of the guards who fell bleeding and died immediately.
"Call me Kyume!" He ordered and Kyume was summoned before him in a hurry.
I saw a giant and muscular man full of strength walked into the palace with arms all-over his body.
He wore attires made from the skin of snakes and leopard. On his wrist were the skins of lions and bones hanging on his neck.
"My king! I commander Ake Agure Kyume is aware of your summoning. I foresaw that King Ndeh, that rachet dog would rebel.
I have prepared the army. Right now their chests are bouncing on them ready for battle. Give me your word and I shall bring before you the head of King Ndeh of the Ndehma kindred." Commander Ake Agure Kyume spoke confidently.
"Haha!!! You have done well great warrior and hunter of the Buruku people. You shall be greater than your ancestors. Go! do as you have spoken Warrior of my people. Bring me the head of King Ndeh and live no flesh alive. Wipe off the existence of the Ndehmas and extend my reign as far as your eyes can see." King Zaki ordered and the commander left his presence.
"Take me to the eye of the gods!" He ordered some warriors and they led the way while he followed.
"Who is this commander?" I asked the angel that was with me. I could see something connecting between I and him but the more I tried to know what it was, the difficult it became.
"Ake Agure Kyume is your great grant father." The angel answered.
"My great grandfather?" I asked shocked.
"Yes! He answered
My mind began to travel far as I tried connecting somethings together both from the future to the time I was in. I couldn't imagine this was my great grandfather.
Haven known this, I became more interested in the happenings onward. I was eager to know what happened and most especially what led to the curse that was placed upon my father.
