Chereads / The Ghosts In My Mind / Chapter 2 - Investigation

Chapter 2 - Investigation

DAY 1

It was around 5 pm now, we were at the Wearhouse again and were eating as we talked about our plan for the night.

"We can bring a book, I've seen other people do it, and sometimes the ghost will write in it if it's in a room they're in!" Ally mentioned, with a big smile.

"that sounds like a great idea" Aiden said, "they could even tell us stuff the ghost box couldn't even though the ghost box can already do that.." he began to trail off, thinking

"I see no harm in it" I was quick to cut in, not wanting to make Ally feel like her idea was invalid. All she did was smile and grab an empty notebook out of her bag and a pen, adding it to our van before joining us again. We all soon finished our food and made sure we had everything again, even the notebook, our new addition. We head off and get there at ~9 and set the gear and van up so Brett and Lucas could watch and listen for any abnormalities. We all put on a head cam, a flashlight and went to investigate the house, in the same groups as we were in before. Were always in these groups, Lilliana is a strong person and somehow can always speak to the ghosts when we can't. Ally, she can sense abnormalities, plus she's great friends with Lilliana, so it works out. As for me and Aiden? He somehow can always get them to calm down, his voice is soothing if I'm being honest, but it's saved our butts on many occasions with him around. Not only that but no matter how hard we try, he's the only one who can put them to rest, whether he knows he is or not. And lastly me, I'm the one who can see them, sometimes just hanging around the room, doing mundane tasks. As were all walking around we have walkie-talkies in case something happens. Me and Aiden are in the same room again, This time our Flashlight Flickers. This happens quite often but it tells us we're on the right track.

"We don't want to hurt you." Aiden says, the flashlights soon stop flickering and we continue as a weird breeze starts to form, making the room a tad colder.

"What's the temp?" I say in a whisper.

"Uh." He grabs the temperature gun and we wait for a second "5 Celsius." He finally said, showing me, then the camera the temperature.

"Keep your eyes out for anything moving" I mention, he nods as we scan the room together.

"Yo, Eli" he says, waving me over to the closet again, but this time there are some little wooden toys moving. As I look closer, I see a small girl. It's hard to make out since It's so dark so we call Lilliana and Ally downstairs to try and talk to her. Lilliana soon is in the room, with Ally close behind. We get out of the way and Lilliana sits by the closet door and grabs the spirit box, talking.

"Hey, I'm Lilliana, what's your name?" she says, in a soft voice, but nothing responds so she tries again.

"We're not going to hurt you, we want to be your friends" We all waited before Ally offered the book, setting it down, Aiden and I told them to keep us updated as we looked at the downstairs more.

"Hey Eli?" Aiden muttered.

"What's up?" I looked at him as we stopped walking.

"What if... What if something bad happens to us while we're doing this kind of stuff?" he said, kind of embarrassed.

"Well, I can't say nothing will happen because there is always something that can happen. What are you worried about?" I say with a smile, hoping to calm him down as we slowly start to walk again.

"One of us getting possessed, or dying" He kind of laughs while talking, but I could tell he was actually worried for our well being.

"We do checks in the van before we leave, and if one of us do seem off you know we'll do everything to help them, weather that be sage or we get an exorcist if it's bad." I wrap my arm around him as I say before we enter the next room, I could tell he was starting to feel at least a bit at ease while we swept the room before the walkie-talkies go off

"You won't believe this" I hear Lilliana say.

"Quick! Come quick!" Ally said over Lilliana's walkie. Me and Aiden quickly went to the room to see the ghost was writing to us in the book, turns out they were having a full conversation with the ghost. We just stood and watched as Ally had a big smile, proud that her idea had worked. Aiden finally looked over their shoulders and read what was going on before frowning and waving me over. As I looked and read what was going on, my heart sank.

"Mommy wasn't that nice, but I know she was trying. Dad had left when I was a baby so we had to seem perfect, Others weren't fond of us as we were different" Were all things written in there, in sloppy handwriting. Ally soon got up and made room for Aiden who offered a new toy to the kid.

"Here, I want you to have this," He said "Don't worry about what happened in your past, it'll hurt less" All I could see was a smile before she was gone.

"Ok," I Sighed "She's gone." Everyone got up, there was a heavy sorrow in the room but we continued on, with little to nothing left of the investigation. We all headed back and sat down, doing our checks, and everyone seemed normal. We all headed home and talked about the event

"Odd how she didn't speak but wrote" Lilliana mentioned

"True, but at least Aiden made her happy. Maybe that's what she needed with what she wrote." Ally replied, opening the book and reading again, taking a picture and posting it to our Instagram.

"I'm tired" Lucas would complain.

"Then go to bed, we still have 3 hours" Lilliana would reply, pulling out some blankets and pillows, letting Lucas lay on her lap. If you didn't know them you couldn't tell they were siblings, they look and act nothing alike, I guess you could say that about all of us if you wanted to. After many hours we got back to my house ~5 am and sat Lucas on my bed while we all watched the Video from the night, seeing if we could see anything that wasn't there before and didn't see much. After all that we hugged one another and said goodbye. I took a shower and laid in bed but couldn't sleep, no matter how much I wanted to. What Aiden asked me earlier was stuck in my head, questions taking over my head, next thing I knew I was waking up to my alarm in a cold sweat and many missed calls.
