NIGHT 2
I remember I was laying in bed, staring at a blank phone screen, though I'm not sure if it was blank, I don't think it was. I remember hearing a voice that sounded like me when I was younger, young and soft. It was repeating one word
"Help help help he-" it cut off. I think since it was so early that I disregard it, eating my cereal and scrolling social media.
"You know I don't like you working on this paranormal stuff Elliot" mother said with a soft sigh, looking at me "it scares me... What could happen to you"
"I know mom, we're safe, I promise" I gave her a small smile, trying to comfort her nerves. She always has something to say about this.
Later in the day I heard the voice again, though it only spoke once;
"Help us... Please"
Annoyed, I got on a coat and went to the park, trying to clear my mind about the whole ordeal, but it didn't help. I got home just in time for dinner, the voice persists, then something clicks and I got up.
"I'm tired, I'm headed to bed" without further explanation, I left to my room. Getting changed into all black, grabbing my bag, I set it by the window. I have no idea what I was doing but I felt like I had to. Turning off my light, I layed in bed, thoughts racing until I knew it was clear. Hopping out my window and headed in my car, starting it I started driving to the house messaging my friends at the first light: "Don't Message me" hitting my do not disturb button and putting my phone down, driving again. After a while I got there, the Victorian house. I grabbed a flashlight and a bag, headed in. I snooped in the kids room again, maybe I missed something? After a few moments of digging in the toys, the voice came back with one word
"Attic" putting things down, back where they where, I looked for the ladder, grabbing the string and yanking it, a plume of dust flew down, as of me and Ally didn't even touch the place. Walking up the dusty steps, I looked around though something was off, some things I swore where down stairs where up here. Hearing squeaks, I looked up and saw a tiny wooden car rolling before hitting my foot. Picking it up it was a bit worse for wear, loved is the right word. I set it down and looked around more before seeing a painting.
After I proper it up and dusted it off, it appeared to be the family, mother and father sitting, kids in front. The mom had an elegant dress, long black hair and a red rose in her lap. The father having a cane, a mustache and white hair. In the middle, on her knees was a little girl, no older than 9, Holding a stuffed animal, her black hair neatly tied back, wearing a little light pink gown. Next to her on either side where a set of twin boys. 15 I think. Each wearing a white button down, sleak black pants, and a rose in their hands. Taking a photo, I set the picture up. I think I remember reading somewhere that the rose represents the family, much like a crest. Heading down the the car for an oujia board. Setting it up I took a deep breath, I knew the first rule: "never play alone" but it was safe, right?
I remember packing everything up after saying hello and starting my drive back. After a while I parked at my house, it was about sun rise, hopping through my window with everything. Setting my bag on my bed, the notebook in the night stand, phone charging, oujia board under the bed, and me? I sat at a beanbag reading a book. I felt like I could finally think clearly again. I heard a knock on my door so I got up and was greeted with Ally shoving herself in my room.
"Are you ok Eli?!" She said, looking for something, opening drawers and doors in my room frantically.
"I'm fine, Ally" I closed the door "what's going on with you?" I walked up to her, pulling her away from the night stand.
"You went didn't you Eli...." She looked at me as if I betrayed her. "You weren't here a few hours ago, your gps was off... Tell me the truth" she reached out the the nightstand again.
"Yes... I.. I felt like I had to, like I was missing something and-" she cut me off
"You made us promise that we wouldn't do anything alone!" Tears filled her eyes as she looked in the nightstand, seeing the notebook and grabbing it "I won't tell the others" she sniffled, cleaning her eyes and looking in it. Powerless I let her, watching as she looked through all the notes I made. "I... won't tell them but you have to at some point..."
"You know I won't-"
"What if one got attached to you!"
I just looked away "They didn't" I ruffled her hair" I promise
