Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 12: LEVIATHAN: THE FOURTH SACRED CREATURE

"Are you ready?" Damian asked.

"To be fried? Go right ahead and zap me anytime" Geed said.

"Please be careful Geed" Alice prayed.

"Bring back the Water Gem" Diane said.

"Yeah, I'll do that after being fried" Geed joked.

A few hours passed and Geed found himself in a huge Colosseum. All the mermaids and mermen of Marinea had assembled to watch Geed's struggle.

"Let's see what you've learnt from father" Damian said.

Geed stepped into the Colosseum nervously. Trumpets began to sound as a huge gate began to open. Geed sighed heavily. At the farthest ends of the Colosseum, sparks of lightning began to sound. Geed watched in horror as the Leviathan, the fourth and presumably final sacred creature began to rush towards Geed. The creature looked like a very gigantic black lobster. It had huge claws and the tail of a scorpion. Its eyes were very dark and they emitted waves of electricity.

"Wow, now that's horrible!" Geed exclaimed.

The creature charged at Geed. Geed quickly created a Wind Glider and evaded the creature's initial attack. The creature pursued Geed across the Colosseum.

"Wow, he's fast" Damian admired Geed.

Geed continued to evade the creature's attacks till it finally cornered him. The Leviathan shot a beam of lightning. Geed quickly spun out of the way and effectively evaded it. The creature now filled with fury lashed out at Geed. Its tail aiming for a fatal blow. Geed jumped out of the way in time but the creature was smarter. It caught Geed in its claws and discharged huge currents of electricity into Geed. Geed screamed from the pain.

"GEED!" Alice screamed.

Still the creature continued to squeeze more electrical currents into Geed. Alice couldn't stand it any longer. She rushed at the Leviathan and shot fire beams at it. The beams just bounced off it. The Leviathan shot an electric beam at Alice.

"ALICE!" Geed yelled.

"Geed, please be careful" Alice said as she fainted.

Diane caught Alice and took her out of the field. Now uncontrollable rage filled Geed. Energy began to surge in the Leviathan. The Star on Geed's shoulder began to glow. The energy surge was rising rapidly and then, there was a huge explosion which rocked the Colosseum. The Leviathan burst into flames leaving Geed on the ground gasping for air and then Geed lost consciousness.

Geed woke up hours later. Alice had still not recovered from the shock.

"How is she?" Geed asked.

"She'll be fine" Damian responded.

"I'd head to the field if I were you" Damian said.

Geed rushed out into the Colosseum and saw the magnificent Gem Of Water. He gently picked it up and placed it in his pouch and then he returned to Damian. Alice had woken up.

"I'm glad you've recovered. I have the Water Gem" Geed informed her.

"I'm glad. I guess we'll now be leaving Marinea" she said.

"No, rest and recover. We still have a lot of time" Geed told her.

"Thanks" she replied.

So for four days, the four friends remained in Marinea. Soon, Princess Elaine returned to Marinea.

"So this is your wife Damian?" Geed asked.

"And a water controlling prodigy" Damian said.

"I've heard a lot about you Geed. I'll come with you on your journey. I'm sure my water powers will be of help" Elaine said.

"Thank you" Geed bowed respectfully.

That night, Geed sat on the castle balcony with Taros.

"What do you think of Damian and Elaine?" Geed asked.

"They seem honest and trustworthy to me and I also think their powers will be very useful" Taros said.

"But what do you think of Alice?" Taros asked.

"Concerning what?" Geed asked.

"What do you feel for her?" Taros asked.

"Wow, that's a big one. I'd do anything to protect her, even if from myself. I'd do the same for you, Diane, Damian and Elaine" Geed answered.

"I know this is personal but what happened to you in Phoenicia?" Taros asked.

"That's another big one. Back there, it was hell. I was treated like a potential disaster, as if I were Lord Darkmanner himself. A night came when I was informed by Canine that the royal family of Phoenicia was in danger. We succeeded in saving the King and Alice but in that single night…I lost everyone I loved. Canine became the fire gem and I nearly refused this quest but I made a promise to Canine that I must keep no matter what" Geed said.

"Such pain and sorrow. Life can be so unfair at times. As you already know, I used to be a thief. I wasn't always like that. I once had a wife. I knew the location to the Chronicles of The Magi. They dwell in the Realm Of Light. Lord Kane wanted this knowledge. When I refused to give it up, he killed my family. That's why I joined you. I must set things right. I must avenge my family" Taros said sorrowfully.

"When I was born, Subterranea was raided by Lord Kane's armies. We dwelt on the surface back then. I was stripped from my parent's arms and placed in that cursed rock known as Golem. I've remained in there ever since" Diane narrated.

"Wow, that's an amazing story" Geed said. "I see, so Kane destroyed each of our lives. I'll never forgive him!" Geed said.

Taros and Diane turned to face him.

"So much pain and sorrow. Such a creature should not be allowed to live. I promise you guys, I'll end your pain. I'll stop him and defeat Darkmanner" Geed said.

Diane smiled and they both rose to hug Geed.

"We're a real team now. Lord Kane and his goons better flee for Geed's on the job" Diane said.

Geed went back into the Sapphire Castle to see Alice.

"I'm feeling a lot better Geed thanks to Prince Damian and Princess Elaine" Alice said.

Geed maintained a serious look on his face.

"What's wrong?" Alice asked.

"I'm worried about you. I fear I am the one leading you on this dangerous quest" Geed said.

"Wow" Alice said as tears filled her eyes. "I've never had anyone try to protect me like you Geed. Thanks, it really means a lot" Alice said.
