Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 6: BOA, THE ELDEST CREATURE

"How do we find the Eldest Creature?" Geed asked.

"Be very careful, the eldest creature has been sleeping for millennia. It was in existence even before the War Of The Magi began. Awakening it means risking its wrath!" Taros warned.

So Geed, Alice and Taros journeyed further away from Paolo. Days passed and soon they were at the entrance to the Valley Of Doom. Night came and the shadows of the valley engulfed them.

"We'd better camp here for the night" Geed suggested.

"I advise against that. People disappear here and are never heard from again. We should keep moving" Taros advised.

"Don't worry" Geed said.

"So you're finally going to start protecting others?" Alice asked.

"No, I'm not. I'm never going to fail anyone again" Geed answered plainly.

The night was quite bright as the Moon was almost full. The three comrades soon fell asleep around the campfire. Unknown to them, they were being watched by shadowy figures. No sooner had they fallen asleep than a group of hungry gigantic snakes came out of hiding! The snakes dragged them silently into one of the caverns. From that Cavern came growls and hisses, a signal that Boa, the eldest creature had awakened!

Morning arrived and the three companions awakened to find themselves in a Cavern.

"How did we get here?!" Taros exclaimed in distress.

"Something must have carried us here" Geed reasoned.

"I don't quite like the idea of something moving us while we were asleep. It makes us sound so vulnerable" Alice said.

Suddenly, a pair of huge eyes with slits for pupils appeared at the darkest side of the Cavern.

"How dare you awaken me!" the creature roared. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" the creature yelled causing the Cavern to tremble violently.

"We seek the gems of Earth and Water and the other Magi" Geed answered calmly.

"Are you implying that you already have the gems of Wind and Fire?!" the creature roared in anger.

"Yes, I have them" Geed answered.

"So next in line is the gem of Earth. The gem dwells with the potential Earth Magi. Once you free her and save Subterranea, the Earth Gem will reveal itself to you" the huge serpent instructed.

Then it squinted at Geed with a deep look in its face.

"Your eyes…I've seen their likeness before…a very long time ago. Be careful…you especially" the huge serpent said, then with a hiss it began to burrow a hole through the ground. "I am Boa, Guardian Of Subterranea. I will take you there to find the gem but there is one thing I desire in return" Boa said.

"Name it" Geed demanded.

"Prince Gideon, your head must be filled with hot air. Weren't you ever taught that making a promise to a snake is a very bad thing?" Alice cautioned.

"I want to hear it from Boa, what he wants" Geed replied.

"Hmm, a very wise decision you have taken boy. I want in return for you to save Subterranea from its darkness" Boa said.

Geed stared Boa in the eyes for a while.

"It's a deal!" Geed declared.

Geed stared at the dark tunnels Boa was making. Without warning, Boa pounced on Geed and bit him on the shoulder with the star. Geed screamed in pain.

"GIDEON!" Alice and Taros screamed in concern.

"Why? Why?" Geed asked as his vision blurred and he fell to the ground unconscious.
