Chapter 27 - Finally outside!

So exploring more of the room, Mors when back to looking for red enchantments. He could copy them down easily, and after a bit, Mors felt he could see the flow of energy in them.

Like the crystals' matrix of enchantments, or at least he guessed it was enchantments, he started to see how the symbols glowed, and strings of something moved between each of them.

After around 5 enchantments were copied into the Crystal Mind, Mors finally heard Malle say something bizarre.

"Do you want to learn how enchantments work?" was the question Malle gave Mors. So with confusion, Mors asked, "Why?"

"Oh, that's easy! I was going to say this later, but in exchange for learning enchantments, we were going to ask you to copy down some enchantments for us." Replied Malle, with a smile on his face.

He continued with, "You see, your gift is special, as it allows you to see enchantments. We can't exactly... we see all enchantments like you see the purple enchantment now. At least when they are inked in monster blood, if it's just regular ink for writing, it's fine."

"Wait! Monster blood?" Mors asked with a bit of shock.

"Yup, well, it's not exactly fully monster blood, it's a mix of monster blood and human blood, to --" started Malle before Mors interjected by yelling, "HUMAN BLOOD?!"

Continuing with no mind to the question, "You will learn all of this and more if you allow me to teach you. But in return, you got to help us translate some old enchantments... There are a lot of old enchantments that no one has a clue how to make, liiiikkkeeee, ummmmm---"

Interjecting, Ator continued, "Like the judgment enchantment. There is only a certain number out there, and we only got it because the guild is doing a study on the crystals and needs the absolute truth."

"Right," started Malle again before saying, "Anyway, your gift is special in a way, and the only way to upgrade it is to understand enchantments."

Absorbing all the information, Mors almost immediately wanted to say yes, but then remembered about the heist soon. He had to train, and he had a feeling that this enchantment lesson thing would take a lot of time.

But then, Mors had a great idea, "Sure, but I can only learn till 1pm since I have a few things to do and take care of."

"Great! And it seems your eye color is returning to normal too. Fascinating..." Ator replied back. Hearing that, Mors quickly went over to the closest reflective object, which was actually a sword he found on the bookshelf.

Ator was right, as his strange green eyes were darkening quickly. Looking at his eyes, Mors heard Malle say, "Come here tomorrow at some point and just enter this room. You can knock, but I won't be working on anything sensitive."

"Wait! How do you enter this place?" Mors asked, remembering the door troubles. He felt like that wall entrance wasn't the correct entrance.

From Ator, Mors heard the sounds of realization followed by laughter, saying, "So that's why you were at that station... I still don't know why you drew on that test."

To which Mors replied, "worry for others, anyway, I came through a wall, and I don't think that's the way to enter."

"Yup, that's the side entrance, usually used by people who can't be bothered to go to the front door and wait for it to open. Anyway, I'll show you out." replied Ator before saying, "Persolvo!"

Following Ator out the door, Mors found the hallway void of any golden lines. He guessed that command Ator said turned off whatever that golden enchantment did.

Quickly going back to the waiting room, Mors followed the giant down a hallway in the back of it. Down it a bit, the duo finally reached a brick wall, with 5 people just standing there.

Looking around for a door, Mors was about to ask about it when Ator said, "Wait for 30 seconds."

Sighing, Mors nodded before watching. Maybe something interesting would happen in those 30 seconds. And something did.

About halfway through, a wall appeared behind them before red circles appeared along the walls blasting mist out.

Then dry air.

After, with a new misty fog around the group, light poured in from in front of them as everyone besides Mors moved forward into it.

Shock didn't last long for Mors as he quickly exited the room to the outside world. Taking steps out into the busy street, Mors felt the cool breeze of the wind on his skin. The wind felt so amazing. He could practically feel it inside his body.

Turning over towards Ator, Mors asked, "What was that?"

"Decontamination and the entrance. Enchantments are expensive, so we have to have some sort of protection against it... even though most feel it's not necessary," replied Ator with a sigh.

Looking around, Mors asked, "So umm, where is the city center from here? I haven't been here before."

"Up the road and to the right, we are right next to the narcissistic alchemist's tower, so as long as you find their road, you can find the city center," answered Ator before hitting himself on the head and saying, "I almost forgot, take this."

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a small tag with a few red symbols on it. Looking closer, Mors heard Ator say, "It's an entrance key, don't lose it, or you will have to follow someone in again."

"Nice! Thanks!" Replied Mors before starting his way up the road towards the city center, feeling the breeze in through his body.
