Dusk drew closer as the sun set allowing darkness spread it's ugly tentacles across the horizons. Warren was already set to go but for some reasons, she wished he wouldn't go. She was being selfish, his sisters life was at risk and all she could think about was herself. She didn't know why she felt that way but she suddenly felt attached to him.
Maybe it is because she never had friends, or was it something else. She dared not tbink about it. She sat by Aarons side most of the time wandering around in her field of endless thoughts. Something or someone had suddenly ended her thoughts and she couldn't be more happier he did. It was Aaron, he was now conscious and smiling at her. She threw herself into his arms and hugged him tightly with tears rolling down her eyes.
"Ouch" Aaron exclaimed as soon as Sian tightened her embrace. "Hey what's this? Sian crying? You are a strong girl now stop crying" He urged patting her on the back as the wa liquid soaked his clothes. His patting stopped as soon as Warren entered the room. He was already packed up and had probably come to say goodbye when he met the two in tight embrace.
Sian noticing the stop of the constant soft tapping on her back wiped her eyes and turned
"Um Aaron this is Warren, Warren meet Aaron" She introduced.
"It's nice to finally talk to you Aaron" Warren said. Aaron stared at him for a bit then looked at Sian. A wry smile plastered on his face
"is he the one? The one that made you smile the other day?" He asked and gave her a slight nudge.
"No. Stop it" She replied in a rather serious tone. She took a quick glance at Warren, he had that look on his face, the one that made her feel weak and vulnerable and she felt like walking up to him and smacking it off his face. He was already prepared to leave
"You're leaving already?" She managed to ask. The last thing she wanted was him to notice she felt bad about his departure. She pushed her loose hair behind her ear and looked at him for a reply.
Warren stared at her for a bit trying to take in all her beauty in one stare. He was going to miss her stubbornness and those rare smiles, he didn't want to leave but fate had decided otherwise. "I will be..." He was interrupted. He could hear just from outside the room, people discussing about him or rather them.
"I swear it I saw him in that room, and he has friends with him" A feminine voice yelled out. Her voice was familiar, the inn keeper. She had entered his room earlier today when she came to drop off lunch and she had seen his face.
"Surround the premises!" A masculine voice yelled, Sian and Aaron had heard it too because they seemed to be tensed.
"We have to get out of here now " Warren said in a loud yet gentle whisper. "Can you walk?" He asked Aaron who struggled to get out of bed.
"Yeah I think so" He replied.
"Take him through the back door I will go get your things from the room. Hurry!" He said to Sian before taking a peek through the door. The hallway was almost empty but two men could be seen coming out of a room nearby. They were searching each room and soon they would reach theirs. He had to stall them long enough for Sian and Aaron to escape.
He gave Sian a nod of assurance that he will be fine and jumped out into the hallway. The two men had caught sight of the sudden movement and without second glances chased after him. He ran towards them, knocking them out would be the best option. If he ran from them, then they would probably alert other bounty hunters they came with.
He swerved right to avoid an incoming blow from fhe first bounty hunter then dunked to avoid a kick from the second. He blocked a kick from the first and leaned backwards to successfully send a kick meant for him to his opponent. He slinked through to the second man's back knocked him out with a hit to the back of the head. The first man was still recovering from his partners kick when Warren reached him.
'Such speed' The bounty hunter thought just before his world went blank.
He dashed forward towards his room only to meet another one the hunters there. He had turned the entire room upside down just for mere fun and it annoyed him to see Sian's belongings being treated with little respect. The hunter had sensed his presence and rushed at him.
"Ye cursed beings" He uttered as he made his move towards warren, a dagger in hand. He held the man's hand with ease without an attempt to dodge his attack. "A front attack at a stronger opponent is a very bad idea" Warren mocked, before kneeing him in the torso, an upppercut followed suite before an elbow strike to the face. The man dropped unconscious blood seeping out from his nostrils and mouth.
He gathered her items from the floor and carelessly stuffed them into a bag. He grabbed her staff from underneath the bed alongside Aarons katana and rushed towards the back to meet them. They needed their weapons now more than anything. If ever they were to be attacked, they will certainly be outnumbered and with Aaron unable to fight in his condition, Sian was left alone to defend him and attack as well. Her skills were nascent. He could tell from watching her brief exchange with the man earlier. He needed to get to them as quickly as possible.
"It's them, the friends of that abomination. They must be cursed too" The inn keeper screamed as soon as her eyes caught the fleeing duo and in no time, they were surrounded. She searched effortlessly for an escape route but her search yielded no positive results. She pulled out her dagger and gently placed Aaron down on the soft grass. He still couldn't walk properly and was in no condition to fight.
"Pretty toy you got there mate" one of the men said as he approached her. "Give up willingly and we would spare you for a night in my chambers" He said with a smile that revealed his already decaying dentition. He moved forth towards her but it was a terrible mistake. She pulled him towards herself and knocked him up with a kick. The other men that stood rushed her immediately but she was too skilled for them.
She manuorvred through their attacks effortlessly and knocked them out whenever she got the chance. They seemed to have realized she outmatched them and made their move towards the helpless man on the grass. She sensed their motive and changed her tactics immediately.
She was on a full defense scheme but their numbers were much for her. Defending Aaron and her self had earned her a few scratches but she was relentless. She bent low to successfully avoid a kick and scarred her opponent on his calf. He dropped down and wriggled in pain on the floor as she jabbed another in the ribs.
One successfully landed a punch on her and another a kick. He wore an iron knuckle over his fists and the impact he delivered was immense. She coughed blood as she staggered backwards. She was definitely going to loose if she kept this up and without a proper weapon, it was going to be in an instant.
Warren made his entrance into the battle arena, and things were just like he had imagined. His fears had come to life. Sian was totally surrounded and she struggled to keep up with their number and attacks.
He rushed towards them with speed dropping down all he carried with him apart from the weapons. A killer kick to the chest of her assaulter announced his arrival, while further decapitation showed his rage.
Sian felt a wave of relief engulf her. She knew she was in good hands now. She had a skilled ally and with her staff, victory was almost assured.
