They had searched all the cells they could find and knocked out all the guards on their way but they couldn't find anyone that matched Warren's description. The two raced back towards the soldiers dressing room where they had agreed to meet but Warren wasn't yet back.
"He might be in trouble we should go help him" Sian suggested. She had a weird feeling that Warren wasn't doing okay. Something just seemed off.
"We should wait a bit, he's skilled enough to take care of himself." Aaron replied. The air around them had suddenly become dense and cold, making it a bit difficult to breathe.
"It's Warren, he's in trouble" Sian said with absoluteness and dashed out of the room. Aaron followed suit. They had little idea of where they were going but the freezing air was their guide. The air got more dense as they approached the rampaging Warren. He was on a killing spree. Every swipe of his Tonfas released a very sharp wave of air that sliced anything in it's path in two. His face and cloth were covered in blood as he decapitated any soldier that dare approached him. A woman laid on the floor unconscious and bruised, 'She must be his sister' Sian thought as she rushed to aid her.
Aaron starred in awe at the man in front of him, this man was probably as strong as he is if not stronger. He wouldn't last long the way he used his powers since using ones power took a lot of stamina and the soldiers never seemed to finish.
He gasped for air with each breath he took, he had used his powers recklessly out of rage and now his strength was drained but he wouldn't spare them even if he was to die doing it. They had hurt his sister and killed his nephew, someone who didn't even get a chance to grow and have a happy life, he never got to see his uncles and his grandparents.
The thoughts of it enraged him more and he sent another powerful wave at the soldiers but instead he saw a much powerful wave of fire. He turned to his side to see Aaron beside him. His wind had amplified his flames and produced a more lethal attack. He smiled at the thought Aaron had brought to his mind and they both began their massacre.
Their moves were in sync even though it was their first time fighting as a team. Aaron used Warren's back as a lift to launch himself up before releasing a conflagration on the approaching troop while Warren slayed the ones that managed to get past. He was at his limits with his powers and had settled for physical attacks why Aaron continued with his fiery assault.
Sian had taken the unconscious girl and made her way into the tunnel that they had come in from, she felt belittled watching the duo fighting with such Skill while she did nothing but watch. She was an Elemental she knew, but her powers were yet to manifest and she didn't know if she should be happy or sad about it. She was confused in all.
The duo had ended their battle and were soon out with her in the open. She could still feel the bloodlust emanating from Warren and it scared her. He wasn't the usual him any longer and she could feel it but she didn't want to care.
"Where to now?" Sian asked.
"I will have to get to my family and get them out of here. They would probably be arrested soon because of the escape" Warren replied in a cold monotonic tone.
"I'll come with you" Sian offered and he paused to look at her. Was she trying to act brave or something.
"No I can take care of it. Take Her to the tent and treat her wounds. Nobody knows you around here so you can buy her some drugs" He replied and made to leave but she grabbed his arm.
"You've exhausted yourself. I will come with you. Aaron can take care of your sister," she insisted. She wanted to stay by his side to make sure he didn't lose himself completely and do something he didn't want to. She has been in his condition and worse and she regretted the things she did back then even up to now. He didn't say anything else but his expressions showed that she had won. Sian turned to Aaron and gave him a nod of assurance before running after the already fleeing Warren.
'The soldiers weren't here yet. A relief' Warren thought as he rushed into the house breaking down the door. His mother sat on a stool, she looked gloomy until his sudden appearance startled her. She threw her arms around him and cried over his shoulders. She might not have been the best mother to him but he still loved her as much as he should.
"Mom there's no time for crying, we need to leave now" Warren said.
"There was no need to break into the Kingdoms prison, she deserved to die for what she did!" A voice shouted from outside. Warren turned around to see his eldest brother and without hesitation, landed a heavy blow on his face breaking his nose in the process. He staggered sideways before regaining his stance.
"You son of a bitch!" He shouted as he stood and rushed towards Warren. A stretched out staff in his path stopped his sudden movements. "I see you've got yourself a girlfriend. She must also be an abomination just like you" he spat. Warren ignored him, from the looks of his attire, he was also in the royal army just like their father.
"Where is father?" Warren asked. He could see the sudden change in mood of his mother and soon, she burst into tears. He didn't need telling to know his father had passed away. His immediate younger brother wasn't at home, he guessed that he might have gotten married and moved out of Kiri. A wise decision. "We have to leave now" He made known before taking his mother's arm and leading her out of the house.
She just stood watching the entire family drama, she didn't want to pry but she couldn't help but pity Warren. She had gotten a glimpse of what his childhood days must have been and he still grew to be such a fine man.
Warren looked at her definitely aware of what she was thinking but he didn't want to give her an impression that his family was a bad one. Anti Elemental.
"There's nowhere to run to" His brother said "The entire kingdom is under search and the gates and borders have been closed"
"We will find a way out" Warren replied before continuing his lead. Sian followed behind him and his mother while Arthur trailed behind her.
They had arrived at the tent without any difficulty or encounter and it seemed rather strange. She expected as least troops of soldiers everywhere around the place but she didn't see any, maybe they didn't care as much as everyone thought . Aaron had cleaned up Warren's sister and had treated her wounds before they arrived.
Her mother had instantly thrown herself unto the bed she lay and had started weeping again. 'She seems more like a drama queen' Sian thought as she watched her soak her unconscious daughter with her salty liquid. The entire room was quiet and the only thing that could be heard was the sobbing of the mother. Warren seemed to be in a deep thought and she knew exactly what he was thinking. A way out of the kingdom. They hadn't thought of a way out and with the borders all closed down there was no possible escape route.
"I know of a way of out" a familiar voice said. Lucas he was there leaning by the side of the door, a wicked grin on his face.
Everyone froze for a moment as they stared at him. Aaron had drawn his Katana and rushed at him. He recognized that voice and all he wanted to do now was to slit it's owners vocal cords. Lucas had drawn his blade too and had successfully deflected Aarons attack. "I'm not here to fight, and besides if you kill me, then you all would probably end up dead" He said as he returned his blade to it's scarab.
Warren had stood from where he sat and taken few steps towards Lucas before speaking to the man "if you have something to say then say it, the more time we waste the less our chances of survival," he said and Lucas smiled.
"I know of a secret alleyway that leads right outside of the kingdom but..."he smiled. Of course there was a but, nobody expected him to do anything for them for free.
"Name your price". Warren replied. A wicked smile spread across Lucas's face as he left the door and walked into the tent. "Recently, I had betrayed my master and had gone against my promise. I spared an Elemental" he said as he shot Aaron a sardonic look. I had sworn to either retrieve an Elemental or slay them at all cost and as it may seem, I have failed and he would have sent people way dangerous than I am to kill me" He finished.
It all began to make sense, he had intentionally followed them to the inn to receive his treatment after he saw Warren with them, then he disclosed the news of his sister to him knowing fully well that he would go to any extent to rescue her which would end them up in an arduous situation. Then he would surface from nowhere and save them just to ask for protection from his more formidable enemies. This man was evidently very clever and cunning.
"If I'm not wrong, you intentionally followed us to the inn because you saw them leaving with me which created the opportunity of our alleged coincidental run in at the inn. Then you knowingly told me about my sister because you had already deciphered how the entire situation would turn out. You then made sure to clear our path from any soldiers or troops so you could show up and offer us help without causing any scene or dragging any unwanted attention towards yourself, then you will ask for our help in battling your more formidable foes." Warren explained.
Lucas smiled at his intelligence. Beings like him rarely existed these days.
"You want protection from us" Aaron said with a sarcastic tone. "We'd rather die"
"We both know you're bluffing" Lucas said now turning to Warren. "Now do we have an agreement?" He asked.
Warren looked at Aaron. He seemed rather serious about them dying than helping Lucas. Sian was just confused and terrified, if they were people stronger than this Lucas then there was more than enough reason to be terrified. He looked at his mother and his unconscious sister and then finally at the silent Arthur and decided.
"We have a deal"
