Chapter 18 - New Faces

Sian felt uneasy as she watched the pair discuss alone. She stood by the doorstep and watched their unending discussion trying to make meaning out of the faint noises she heard. Warren had told her about his previous encounter with Hayley and she expected her to hate him but what she saw proved otherwise.

Hayley had drawn closer to Warren and whispered something to his ear, her sudden act had added flames to the uneasiness she felt, or was it jealousy perhaps? She turned her sight away from them, trying not to see any other action that might ensue.

"You know it's not proper to eavesdrop on people's conversations" Warren lectured suddenly appearing behind her. Sian didn't talk until Hayley walked past them. She turned to face Warren with boldness in her face, if she wavered even a bit then she will willingly give in to his accusations.

"I came to get something and didn't want to interrupt your conversation" She uttered boldly not blinking as she every word..

What she said was partially truth, she had returned to pick her staff and train more outside the house but she walked right into them and decided to eavesdrop.

He raised an eyebrow and bit his lower lips before tearing away from their unending stare.

"So what was this you wanted to get? Could it possibly be you came to get me?" He asked a sardonic smile on his face.

She scoffed at his attitude, he always managed to make everything about him and his annoyance festered to her bones. She rolled her eyes and turned away from his stare.

"Yes, what could I possibly do without you?" she replied sarcastically, but he didn't seem to understand.

His arms flung around her and drew her closer to his body. His warmth once again overwhelming her defences. He travelled down her neck with his lips and kissed the delicate part that made her feet tremble. A soft moan escaped her lips as he trailed back up.

She regained herself and pulled away from his clutches. He was good at this, always torturing her with his mere presence. He still had that derisive smile on his face and she could only restrain herself enough from slapping it off his face.

"S...stay away from me" She managed to vocalize as she still fought to gain full control of herself. She pushed a streak of her stray hair behind her ear and turned to walk away but he held her and pulled her into his embrace. His warmth. He brushed his lips against her neck before turning to look her in the eyes.

"Say that again Sian Mort"

"He looks pretty bad" A masculine announced while staring at the already decaying carcass of Tyrant. He obviously wasn't alone. Another knelt beside the carcass and performed an autopsy while the third floated few metres away from the two.

The second man examined the environment and touched the earth before turning to the third who was floating in the air.

"You won't believe me, but this was done by a water Elemental" He said.

"What are you saying Edmund? Water Elementals are extinct" the first man reminded clearly shocked by what his comrade just said. They all looked their early twenties or less. "Besides even if it was a water Elemental, Tyrant should have crushed them with ease. It's no surprise he lost though. But anyways, the enemy wouldn't stand a chance against us"

"Don't get cocky Caleb, we mustn't underestimate our opponents. Besides, whoever did this didn't come alone, Lucas was here" The floating man said, his expressions not a bit perplexed by the new discovery. He was an air elemental from the look of things and he kept air at a constant circulation around him making him deny the laws of gravity. The other two looked up at him in awe, seemingly surprised by the mention of the familiar name.

"Bet he's no longer as awesome as you used to say, I must say you give him more credit than he deserves, Harold" Edmund said as he walked away from the corpse.

"Sure he has Talent as a non Elemental, but he's nothing compared to Caleb and I don't see anyone below Caleb as a worthy opponent talk less of student" He finished.

"Do not underestimate Lucas. If it came down to choosing between Caleb and Lucas, I would still choose Lucas without a second thought." Harold maintained.

"You're so mean Harold" Caleb commented while proceeding to give Edmund a hug for his nice commentaries.

"And why would you choose Lucas if I must ask?" Edmund queried as he broke free from the uncomfortable embrace Caleb offered.

"Caleb has already honed his abilities to their fullest and would definitely find it difficult to grow, but Lucas hasn't. He hasn't even reached half of his capabilities and he's already as good as a pro and rapidly approaching Caleb's status" Harold announced before gliding off towards the northern side of the forest. "Their scent it's faint but I can still smell them"

Caleb couldn't hide his anger. He hated being compared to Low level brats like Lucas. But Harold wouldn't stop singing Lucas's praises. Heclenched his fist in anger and swore under his breath, "you will die by my sword Lucas"
