Early morning noise was most hated and when it happened it rang a bell that something bad was going to happen.
"What's the hustle?"
Renjun asked, annoyed by the commotion early morning as he walked through the building door.
"Sir, the admiral is here," ms Kim said reluctantly, knowing how his mere name made him angry let alone his presence would make him explode.
oh and how in an instant that made his blood boil. He was angry to the core.
Admiral was like bad news, really bad. He was the only reason why Renjun was not promoted to a higher rank because his skills were remarkable to the point he should be working with national intelligence. Not only that he doubted his abilities but also made his work life hell.
Entering his office, he found the adult resting in the chair. His chair, taking a deep breath and gathering his strength, sat down in front of him.
"Surprise visit admiral park"
Renjun gave a glare that was equally returned by the man in front of him. He was middle-aged with a rough appearance. Black hair almost faded away.
"I had to… Mr. Huang Renjun, after seeing you struggle with the latest case" he replied taunting him, about his capabilities.
Biting in inner cheek, Renjun gave a chuckle.
"We're working on it, sir" he replied as respectfully as he could even though, he wanted to slam his head on the table.
"Oh yeah, while you're working on it another senior office here will die!"
He raised his voice at Renjun who scoffed in response. Not wanting to reply something rudely, but he knew he wasn't going away that easily.
"Are you perhaps scared you'll be next Mr. park?"
He asked with a grin, everyone feared death and the admiral especially was afraid of dying, after everything he had earned
fame, money, respect everything anyone could ask for.
"A person serving his nation is never afraid of death"
The admiral replied, slamming the table harshly and making Renjun roll his eyes.
"Yet your actions say otherwise…and what are you here for? Transferring another one of your so-called qualified investigators? Take a damn break and sit in your mansion protected by guards while my team and I will save higher-ups like you".
He scoffed, giving a death stare to the admiral, who was left speechless. Renjun was right, he knew how his mind worked.
Clearing his throat
"get your work done, or I'll send someone to supervise," he said tidying his coat trying to threaten him but failing badly in the process.
"Pfft yeah do that sir" he mocked as he left.
The door closed with a thud, making Renjun curse in every language he knew.
Taking a deep breath, he tried calming down.
Sitting on his chair, he loosened his tie.
"Ms park, you may come out now"
He announced, not looking up. Silence surrounded the room before a shuffle was heard behind the storage files In the corner of his office.
"Uh haha, good morning cap!"
She said awkwardly, dusting her shirt. Her muscle a bit cramped due to hiding in a small place. Surprising how she managed to fit there.
"And if I may ask, what were you doing in my office?"
he inquired the girl, who gave a nervous chuckle. She wanted to avoid revealing anything or give a reason for her hiding. But she also knew Renjun would not let her go unless she told him the truth.
"Funny story actually…see I was looking for a file-
"Miss seohyun I don't have time to hear your lies"
he said slamming the file in his hand on the table harshly making the girl flinch. His deep tone made her shiver. It was the first ever since she joined that he had raised his voice at her.
"Are you scolding the poor girl!?"
Hyuck who had just entered the department heard Renjun shouting early in the morning and shrieked upon seeing the girl in front of him.
"Answer the damn question," he asked, his voice dropping a few more octaves. He was angry and seohyun got a bit scared seeing his glare.
"Fine, I wanted to avoid being seen by the admiral" she sighed
"why?" He boreholes into the poor girl.
"He's my father"
She said salty at the word, father
Renjun nodded, not asking anything else. He might be insensitive, but he knew how to read a room.
Hyuck let out a shocked gasp.
"Damn! You're the only daughter of admiral park hyunbin!?" He asked, shocked,
making the girl nod with a fake smile.
"Damn, I never knew that man could have a child this pretty…must be mother's genes, eh?"
He joked, making the girl chuckle. It was true, she had her mother's looks. As she found her mother to be beyond pretty.
"You could say"
Hyuck leaned against the door frame dreamily staring at the girl with a smile on his face.
"So, what's your favorite place to eat? KFC, subway, Burger King-
"McDonald's"
she cut him making him nod
"Yep, was just gonna say that. Can I take you to Mcdonald's sometime?"
He definitely was a pro at asking people out shamelessly.
Renjun threw his file directly at hyuck making him duck down rapidly.
"Mind your damn business!"
Renjun glared at the boy, who rolled his eyes at him.
"Stop acting like you're her boyfriend or anything…she might not even like you for starters" hyuck dusted his shirt, getting up.
"I'm not acting like her boyfriend, now get that file that just flew up your dumb ass and write the report I asked you to"
He ordered, making him whine, stomping his feet and walking to his office where he could chill.
Seohyun was laughing silently, looking at the boy acting like a child.
"Ms park, are you forgetting something?"
He looked at the girl who furrowed her brows in confusion not remembering what he had said.
"Uh hehe enlighten me please"
she said nervously, sighing he motioned her to sit down.
"The postpartum result given by Dr. han was wrong, as you said… I asked for the actual reason for death from you"
he explained, making her eyes widen.
"Yes, I remember! I am so sorry, cap, I'll have that done in 2! No. One hour. ONE HOUR "she announced hurrying her way out.
Renjun simply chuckled at her small run to gather the files and info.
