Everyone had reached the office, where it was to be decided where Seohyun was going to live. Renjun had forbidden her to stay in her house, it was no longer safe.
"What do you mean I can't stay at my house?"
She shouted, making Renjun move back at her high-pitched voice. He was noise sensitive, and she was highly unreasonable, which frustrated them both.
"Your house is a crime scene, we have currently sealed it"
Jaemin told, giving her a cup of coffee, trying to calm her down. It was obvious she was going to be furious after being held accountable for something she clearly didn't do. Moreover, she couldn't even get a refreshing bath and a good night's sleep.
The worst-case scenario was not her dying a horrible death and being at a crime scene, it was starvation and being homeless and sleepless.
"Now, where do you suppose I live?"
"You could live in an apartment your dad is rich or maybe with a friend for a while" Chen suggested. The two are awful options for starters.
"That would be dangerous"
Renjun muttered as he stared at the file of the current case. Staying in an apartment where more murders have occurred was not wise, and a friend's house meant risking their lives as well.
"Yeah, then I should live with you because you're more dangerous"
She joked, giving a sarcastic smile, pissed at the fact he wasn't even letting her breathe. And if the so-called ace was so dangerous then as I quote 'I am more dangerous' Renjun can do that perfect job but of course, she was just taunting him.
"Sure"
He replied without looking up and setting his things ready, getting up to grab his coat and phone. It was already late, and he wanted to lay in his bed.
"Haha… Excuse me! What?"
She furrowed her brows, confused. Treating it like a joke, not sure if he was serious or joking around like she was.
"What? I agreed with you staying with me, I don't like repeating myself".
That arrogant self annoyed seohyun to bits and pieces. Leaving the conversation, he walked out of the front door rushing.
"Hey! Where are you going!"
"I would rather not work overtime today" he announced, turning his head to look at her, motioning to join him soon as he wanted to avoid running late. She hurried behind the boy, excusing herself from others, who just plainly shook their head at the antics of their captain.
Seohyun angrily jogged behind the male, who was already sitting in the car ready to drive away. She rolled her eyes,
"You must really think the world revolves around you"
She scoffed as he drove the car, thanking god that she finally decided to come.
"I don't"
His short and precise replies infuriated the girl. Dry replies and a cold voice, just like his ice-cold heart.
"You really need to get re-educated, your replies are annoying"
She scoffed, crossing her arms. Obviously, she was done by him and his treatment. Renjun during all this time calmly drove, taking a few deep breaths in between to let out the stress pent-up. Being around her, he found himself to be oddly warm, the warmth he hadn't experienced in a very long time.
"I guess that's how you thank people"
Renjun's words made her angrier with every second, whereas the male, on the other hand, remained unfazed by the whole situation, given the times they fought it became normal for him to hear her fight back at every single thing he said. He now found it adorable for some reason he failed to explain.
"Why would I thank you?"
"Well, for getting you out of jail, taking your custody; also letting you stay at my sleep. Do you want more reasons? I still have many left"
He replied, parking the car and indicating they had reached their destination.
"Oh well! You were the one who got me locked up in the first place and secondly, I didn't ask you to open a hotel for me, I'm fully capable of handling myself".
She harshly slammed the car door shut, got out of the car, and huffed in the process.
Renjun took a deep breath, shutting the door close, he moved towards the girl, standing in front of her. He started advancing towards her with a stern gaze yet a playful smile on his lips making her move back at his sudden action.
With a taunting chuckle, he leaned to her height. He was a tall build man whereas seohyun was short heighted which he was in awe of. Him leaning down close to her eye level, he hummed before replying,
"well then if anything happens, don't call me"
Diverting her eyes from him, she pushed him away lightly. She was taken aback by their closeness.
"I'm here, might as well stay" she simply pushed past him knowing he was right, and fully capable to provide her necessary protection.
"You never told me you were rich".
She looked in awe as she stared at the huge, mansion-like house. It was all chocolate brown and glass windows decorating the house beautifully. To say the least, it was splendid.
"You never asked".
He shrugged, leading the way inside the rooms.
"Damn is that why you're rude and demanding I mean no hard feelings I would be too".
As she wandered around the place, Renjun held her shoulder, pushing her towards the room left to the stairs before she turned around to look at him.
"You're like a millionaire detective except you're Chinese working in Korea".
Her eyes with sparkle and a giggle left her lips as she looked into his dead eyes. Seeing her face shine with happiness, he felt that weirdly warm feeling creep up again.
Almost… Warming his cold, dead heart.
"Well you know… love does much, but money does everything".
He gave a light smirk, making Seohyun chuckle.
"you sounded a bit cool flexing your money like that" She shook her head
"I'll show you the guest room oh and don't go sightseeing in my house."
He said, giving her a slight glare
"Is that a request?" She teased, joking around a bit now that her mood was a bit better than before.
"An order" with that he closed the door, making her scoff.
"I see why he is single"
