Chapter 6 - Six

She disappeared before me. I gasped, shocked. "She just vanished into thin air," I muttered, in a low voice.

Taking in the familiar environment, it was his room. I froze, She did not just drop me in his room and vanish.

Just then the door burst open and he stood at the entrance ready to fight the intruder that had sneaked into his room. I happened to be that intruder.

I stood upright, hands folded behind me as I tried to seem somewhat innocent. Yeah right.

"How…, I give you ten seconds to tell me how you got back in." He walked into his room marching straight at me. I backed away from him until I hit the wall. Oh shit. I squinted my face looking away.

"It couldn't have been you." He said just inches away from my face. "Who helped you?" he asked.

"Uh, I came in by myself," I blurted out all of a sudden. The obvious sound of desperation in my voice. I winced, clicking my tongue. I had always been bad at lying. He definitely caught on.

"Fine if you don't want to talk." He stepped back. I relaxed a bit. Was that all? It was surprising to think he would give up that easily. Another person entered his chambers, he wore formal wear adorned with badges and gold. It was a very fashionable uniform. I looked between him and Lucan.

"What's going on?" I said, looking at the new person who had walked in sceptically.

"Lock her up." He ordered without batting an eyelash at me.

"What!!" I shouted, I fumbled with my words, backing away from the person.

"There must be a misunderstanding". He looked away.

The stranger grabbed my wrist tightly and I let out a small wince. Drawing his attention. One sharp gaze from Lucan and he softened his grip a little but not enough for me to get away.

"Just take her away, the annulment of the bond will commence later" he waves me off. What was he talking about? What annulment?

I struggled to escape from his grasp, only for the window to shatter. I screamed. The man holding me swiftly blocked my path from the flying glass. My heart raced in my chest. What was going on?

Lucan stood up alert, masked people dropped in through the broken glass.

"How dare you barge in here." His voice was deep and threatening. A dark aura surrounded him, making them shiver in his presence.

"We just need the girl and we will be on our way. '' he straightened his back, answering with a shaky voice that he tried to hide as best as possible.

"What did you just say?" He tilted his head slowly sizing the guy up. The others retreated a little to the back. As their hands trembled in fear. They looked at each other. They didn't know whether to go ahead and risk their lives.

He grabbed the person who answered by the neck, his eyes darkened as he spoke in a low voice.

"I don't know who gave you the audacity to break into my chambers but appreciate it." He choked the man till his throat cracked splitting his vocal cords. Then he looked at them with a small smirk on his lips, "cause this is the last thing you will ever see" he flung the body away going for the others.

The man who looked to be his guard went beside him fighting along by his side. Leaving me all alone and defenceless. I anxiously stood by the door. Gritting my teeth at the mercilessly killing before me.

One of them went past them unnoticed, coming towards me.

He drew a small blade, putting a finger to his lips.

"If you shout I will kill you" he warned. Nonetheless, I screamed at the top of my lungs. Alerting Lucan and his guard. They both turned to look at me. He gripped a person's head, squashing it to bits and he came after the person close to me.

The masked person grabbed me instantly, putting the blade close to my neck.

"Come closer and she dies'' he threatened. Soft whimpers escaped my lips.

"Go ahead you still die in this room" he provoked him. What. I stared at him with teary eyes. this bastard.

"No please don't" I pleaded, holding his arm that wrapped tightly around my throat.

"You think I am joking" he brought the knife closer and it grazed my skin lightly drawing a little blood. Something in him shifted and his eyes darkened at the sight of my blood. He flowed like the wind and was next to me in seconds. Ripping the man's arm off my neck. It ripped off completely from his body and sent him into shock. He fell back, as blood dripped where his hand was meant to be.

My knee felt wobbly, and I collapsed to the floor coughing and gasping to catch my breath. He caught me midway. Our eyes locked and I relaxed into the warmth of his body. His head whipped up swiftly, catching something midair. It was an arrow.

He looked at the guard, "there are still more out there, catch them" his guard left immediately. His hand dripped with blood from the arrowhead that pierced his palm.

I reach out to it unconsciously. He drew back letting me go. I fell to my butt, snapping out of the trance.

"I don't accept this bond. So don't try to make it worse" what did he mean by that, I thought to myself.

He pulled me closer as he watched one of the masked attackers wriggle on the ground. Something felt off about him. He got up abruptly and we drew away. Lucan pushed me behind him. Eyes locked on us he screeched, coming towards us.

Lucan stepped forward, his claws extended and he swiped at it.

It choked holding its neck in place as blood poured out freely and its head fell from his body to the ground. The rest of him fell flat.

I couldn't take my eyes off his head as I watched the life drain from his eyes. It was horrifying. My hands trembled. But my face was rigid.

"Are you okay?" he asked with a look of worry in his eyes.

My voice croaked, when I tried to sound calm and cool, "F-fine, it's dead, right?" I asked to be sure, scared it might spring back to life.

I wrapped my arms around my body tightly and pressed my lips into a tight line. On the outside, I seemed calm but my thoughts waged war with one another.

"Take a seat, you look pale," he said in a calm voice. His voice came out soft which surprised me.

"Thank you" I muttered, feeling an ominous shiver run up my spine. He didn't notice but from the corner of my eyes, I noticed a shiny object glistening under the moonlight. It was too late to warn him.

I pushed him out of the way.

Bang

The sniper was shot hitting my side. I gasped feeling the same wave of pain from the dagger I had woken up with. The last image I saw was the devastated look on his face as I fell unconscious.
