Lucan's POV
I held her unconscious body in my arms, while the blood seeped slowly from her side to the floor. It splashed to the ground creating a red puddle on the ground.
Impatient and furious I crashed my fist into the wall making the servant who carried the piles of bodies away freeze in fright. I shouted.
"Where is the damn healer?" I couldn't wait idly while the bullet poisoned her further. The sickening feeling of watching her in pain made my blood boil. It was all the cause of the mate bond. That made me more furious than before.
The healer arrived, and the servants cleared the way. The room still had the stench of blood on the floor. Magna, the pack's healer, made her way to the sleeping child losing blood in the alpha's bed. She hastily brought out her medicine giving her something to reduce the pain in her body. As she set to do her work.
Some minutes later,
Magna had removed the silver bullet that poisoned her blood. She turned to the expecting alpha "All she needs now is to let her own body heal itself" she said in a calm tone watching the furious alpha relax at her words.
There were other curious gazes in the room as they also wanted to see the young female behind the curtains in the chamber bed. He narrowed his eyes at them and they flinched hastily walking out of the room that was except for Magna the healer.
Magna was known to be one of the clever elders in both the northeast and the western pack. She smiled, her crinkly features forming wrinkled lines on her face.
"You have been blessed with another mate" she beamed " this is a sign, you can't escape the goddess blessing of a mate" she was overjoyed
A scowl formed on his face, "I'm afraid it won't end up as you all hope." his grumpy attitude didn't stop her excitement.
"That was in the past this is a new hope for the future. We should let the rest of the elders know of this miracle" she said in an elated voice. He stooped her with a firm tone.
"You are not allowed to speak of this to anyone, no one must know I have been given another mate" Magna, though an elder who has lived for two centuries could not go against the direct order of her alpha.
Her excitement dwindled to that of pity for her alpha."What will happen then" she asked
"As soon as she recovers I will go along with the rejection." It was fruitless trying to change his mind.
Magna turned to leave but stopped facing her alpha, "Did you stop and think of the poor child who will be stripped of her only chance to find a mate. What sorrows she might go through." her voice was filled with sadness. He didn't speak up after that watching her depart his room.
He watched raven's furrowed eyebrows relax. He reached his palm to hold hers but he caught himself midway, dropping it to his side going to answer his aide who waited patiently at the doorway. It was for the best. He was doing her a favor.
"Were you able to catch any of them alive?" he stopped just beside him.
"Badly injured but still able to talk," he stated, Lucan nodded in approval and headed to the dungeon where the prisoner was kept.
"Have you gotten anything out of him?" Lucan asked his aide, they had made their way into an underground cellar. It had been abandoned for decades and was recently turned into a questioning room for suspicious rogues.
"No, I figured you would like to handle it yourself" He pushed the door open, revealing a small room with a man-sized cage which held the beaten-up prisoner. He looked in terrible shape having one of his eyes bleeding and the other barely looking any better.
He sat down on the only chair facing the caged prisoner. With legs crossed over one another he asked, "what's your name" he sat silently in the cage, hands wrapped across his knees. He didn't answer. Instead, he turned away muttering low but audible enough to hear.
"I'm not saying a word" he grumbled, Lucan poured himself a glass of water, took a sip and sighed satisfied. Then poured another into the same glass.
"Would you care for a glass of water?" he offered, sending mixed confusion to the prisoner. The prisoner looked at him sceptically.
"Whatever are you playing at it won't get me to talk" a laugh escaped his lips and the prisoner was beyond confused. He thought the person before him was crazy.
Lucan walked up to his cell, opening it, an evil glint in his eyes sent panic through the prisoner's body. But he faced him head-on, maintaining the direct gaze he had on the alpha. With a glass of water in his hand, he grabbed the prisoner's jaws tight, pouring the whole liquid down his face. Most of the water rolled down his sleeve, wetting his body. Lucan no longer smiled but glared at him, touching the metal collar on his neck.
He leant down next to his ear, "I needed you to be wet and ready for what I am about to do next" whispering in a very slow and soft tone.
"He stood up going outside the cell, he raised a small remote in the air. And when he pressed it shock waves ran across his body. He vibrated, eyes rolling back into his head as he convulsed. Lucan paused it. The prisoner collapsed to the ground breathing heavily. The water on his body made him feel the shock more painfully and vividly than he was meant to.
"I believe I asked you a particular question a while ago," he said in a low voice, still he kept silent.
This basic torture went on for hours on end he had finally broken a sweat. Lucan paused it and his agonising grunt came to a stop once more. He breathed eyes focused on Lucan. He had cracked. Now Lucan bent forward to his sweat-drenched face.
"Now are you ready to talk," he asked and with a slow nod, he conceded. He stood up looking at his aide who was ready to drag him out of the cell.
They brought him out, placing him on a chair. He had weakened. It was impossible to tell if he was still conscious, with how he looked. The alpha sat across from jaws propped on his elbow as he waited for him to speak up.
