Chapter 9 - Nine

Raven's POV

Tied with my arms apart. Lucan sat beside me waiting as the elderly man mixed a concoction. He reminded me of the woman who had helped me in the restaurant. I wondered if he was a wizard like her.

"Hurry up with it," Lucan groaned impatiently. Tapping his feet to the floorboard. The old man pinched some power, sprinkling it into the bowl softly.

"Making this needs patience," he said in a soft tone. He didn't look back to the alpha.

When he was done he brought the bowl to us. Inside the bowl, it looked as clear as water.

"All you need to do is drink and you will feel the bond slowly weaken." He said, slowly handing it to the alpha.

I looked between both of them, very sceptical about the content in the bowl.

"What would happen if I drank it?" I asked

A small window of silence before Lucan came to my side with it.

"It doesn't matter, just drink" he offered it to my face forcefully. I furrowed my brows angrily at him. Looking away as I refused to take any.

The old man had a worried look on his face, a small plea leaving his lips.

"What if we find ano-" he was cut off instantly by a piercing glare from Lucan. This made me more anxious about drinking from there.

"I won't drink from it," I said to him.

"Fine, if you want it that way." He gulped the whole content of the bowl narrowing his gaze at me.

I backed away from him knowing what was going to happen. A momentary squeal left my lips as he held my cheek, crashing our lips together. He forced the liquid inside me through the kiss making sure I drank every last drop.

When we separated I gasped, coughing and spitting out any drop that was left. My hands were still tied. He wiped his wet lips with his wrist.

"It wasn't that hard, was it?" He then turned to the old mad. "how long till it takes effect"

"Not long, we just have to wait," he answered.

After some minutes

My heart throbbed painfully. It felt sharp like a knife in my heart. Something inside me was being torn apart slowly and I couldn't bear it. "What did you do to me?" I muttered low and weakly. My eyes darted around looking for some sort of escape. If this pain continued I was going to die.

Lucan from where he stood was uncomfortable too but from his unbothered look, he could handle it. That bastard.

A slight twitch of his lips and a gripping fold with his fist showed he too was suffering the pain.

I groaned. Gritting my teeth as the pain intensified. For a moment I thought I heard someone speak to me. It wasn't Lucan or the Old man since they had been whispering in a hushed tone to one another.

Complete half of the bond one blood for another. What did that mean? I thought.

The ropes binding my hands snapped and I was released from the chain. Falling to the ground, my vision had gotten hazy and it was hard to make out what was in front of me. I reached out my hands, "please it hurts please" I begged on the floor. My voice shook. another stab to my heart and I gasped.

Lucan's POV

Lucan looked away fighting all urges in him telling him to go help her. To complete the bond. He clenched his fist turning away from her but that didn't stop him from feeling the agonising pain going through her. She was a runt and she couldn't handle the breaking of a bond.

He didn't hear her gasp anymore, turning he saw her unconscious body on the floor.

He directed a questioning gaze at the old wizard of the pack. He had a solemn look on his face. "Is it over"

"It should be, the toxin is very poisonous to weak wolves. There is no way she could survive that." He said sadly.

Lucan bent down to her unconscious body, raising the locks of her golden brown hair away from her pale face. Her lips had turned dark without colour. It was done.

Taking a deep breath, "I will send some guard to come to get her body." He stated as he turned to leave.

The hair on his back rose on ends and he turned only to see his dead mate right behind him. Before he could register how she was still alive and standing she crashed her lips into his forcefully.

The sweet scent from her lips distracted him for a second. His eyes widened when he tasted her blood on his tongue. He pushed her back and she crashed into some furniture breaking it in her fall.

"What have you done?" he raged, grabbing her neck and lifting her above the ground.

She choked, "Serves you right, MATE" she spat spitefully at me. He tightened his grip and she clawed his fist with her nail. Her face turned blue. If she didn't want to die he would make sure to kill her himself.

Her eyes burned with fury as his and they locked eyes on one another.

"STOP" the elderly man shouted. And the alpha only growled, dropping her body to the ground.

Just then a light flow formed on his chest the crescent mark of the moon. The mark of the mated. She coughed, hysterically. Catching her breath. I wanted to throttle her until she died. But the burning sensation on my chest said otherwise.

I crashed my fist into the table instead, breaking it into pieces. "Dammit," I cursed.

The Mark of the mate meant I couldn't kill her unless I wished to die with her.

The elderly man spoke up in a strong voice. "What's done is done, you can't go against the goddess' wish. The heavy steam rolled off his body with one breath he glowered at Raven pointing his index finger at her.

In a deep voice, he said "You think you have won but I will never accept this bond. you just made the biggest mistake you could ever make. I will make sure you regret this for eternity." She stood her ground not batting an eyelash at his threat instead with a wry smirk.

"Bring it on, mate…" she taunted.
