Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"Melo, how old are you?"

Hela echoed the words, crossing her arms across her chest and narrowing her gaze at her. Hela stood about 175 cm tall, and her boots added to her height. Melody felt like an elf beneath the scrutinizing gaze of her buddy.

Standing sluggishly, she looked at Hela and said confidently dragging her along with her to sit on the couch.

"I am here to remind you about today's party."

Casting an annoyed look at Melody, Hela sat down. She looked at her friend to find her already sitting too comfortably on the couch crossing her legs. She peered at the abandoned sandals, which Melody threw in a disoriented manner.

Her latent OCD kicked in, and she riveted her focus on Melody. Melody was perplexed by the glare thrown upon her. Hela made a downward motion gesturing her to look down.

Her eyes widened when she spotted the untidy sandals. She smiled sheepishly and frantically bent to arrange them but she didn't notice the sharp edge of the crescent-shaped table.

Hela instinctively arched her back, positioning her palm at the edge, preventing any harm to the grown-up child.

She almost rolled her eyes at the short girl.

Kid!

After straightening their back, the duo went back to the conversation.

"Oh! By the way, how did you know it was me?" Melody tried to upraise her brow wanting to look intimidating but she failed miserably. Hela ignored her and leaned back on the sofa resting her stiff body.

Melody huffed in vexation at her friend and an idea popped into her brain more correctly to say an impish idea.

"Did you by any chance peeked at me?"

Melody inquired, covering her upper chest with her hand and acting dramatically pushing herself to the end of the couch as if shielding herself from the powerful scoundrel. Hela's eyes twinkled with mischief.

"What if I did!" She continued the little act.

With each passing second, she leaned in further. Melody's heart rate accelerated drastically. In anticipation, her pupil contracted. Who claimed that beauty fades with the passage of time? It was all a big hoax. All farce. They had been closest friends for almost a decade, and she was still as attractive as the day they met.

Hela's beauty blossomed as their friendship gained strength. Melody imagined herself turning into lesbian several times just thinking about Hela's charms. Not even their other friend, a model who was likewise a set level in the appearance domain than the beauty in front of her eyes couldn't catch her eyes.

It has a fair white complexion and is so soft that it resembles soft fluffy clouds. Her almond-shaped eyes protruded at the end. The black eyeliner was applied smoothly, with open wings at the end to highlight her distinctive iris.

Some people were even misled by her beauty and mistook her for the apparition of a fairy. However, in the vicious business world, there are just ravenous vultures itching to pounce when they catch a whiff of some controversial topics.

And her beauty is appreciated in public, but behind closed doors, it becomes a controversy. It wasn't even a year ago that some rookie reporters broke the story about her soliciting favors from large corporations by accompanying their owners to bed.

However, within a few minutes of the news being published. It was eliminated, and the news agency was shut down, leaving no record of it in the news market. Since then, no one has tried to disseminate false rumors concerning Wilson Co. or its CEO.

Though some rumors were spreading later on about her having big support behind her in secret however no one dared to speak in public.

Hela leaned in closer, her gaze fixed on the terrified lamb. She smirked inside, "That's what you get for bugging me," she thought as she flicked her forehead.

"Oww!!"

Melody wailed in pain. It was unduly rough. She centered her attention on her friend rubbing the afflicted spot. Hela returned to her seat and reclined back slightly, her back resting on the couch.

"You don't have to come here. Just a text would have enough."

Hela closed her eyes and pointed. Melody's cheerful countenance transformed into a scowl and forced a smile.

"Sure. I mean, why not?"

Melody hissed and went on.

"As the sun sets and evening approaches, you forget to check your personal phone. And then around midnight when you get home from work. Finally, fritter away your precious time on the private phone stored in your last drawer. Ultimately, you will look through the text and glance at the time. Texting five-word s-o-r-r-y, you will sleep."

Melody sulked and yelled. This was always the norm whenever they arranged a get-together. With the exception of Hela, the other three will attend. Her likeliest explanation was that she forgot to check her phone, and even if she did, it was too late.

Haa!! As if they don't her true nature.

If Hela wanted to do something then nobody can stop her and if she chose to stay away from something or someone, nobody had the guts to force her.

Melody stood up from her place and pointed an accusing finger at Hela, "Weren't you planning to do the same this time as well."

Hela opened her eyes and stared into her eyes. She pulled her finger and said,

"No."

"Don't tell a falsehood. I heard you scheduled a meeting for the evening. I'm warning you, Hela, that if you don't cancel the meeting, you'll face my fury. No, not just mine, but the rest are in line as well. Ha!"

Melody shrieked. Her breathing became laborious. Hela sipped her water. She snatched it from her grasp and gobbled it down, quenching her thirst.

"I'll be there."

"As if you have any choice."

Melody made a hump sound. Hela smiled at her childish antics and rose to her feet, strolling towards her office chair.

"There are some books in the lower cabinet."

Hela directed her to do so that Melody would not become bored.

"I had noticed it."

Melody reverted to her somber demeanor and searched through the cabinet for a book that piqued her interest. She had previously spotted some books when she took out the antique vase.

She made a face at her bestie, squinting her round eyes and poking her tongue at her back.

All of the books in the cabinet were either business or psychology-related. Others were about past revenue or finances. None of them managed to get her attention.

She looked up to complain but sat back down begrudgingly when she noticed Hela was busy at work. She did not want to pester her. She opened her phone and started playing games because if Hela is disrupted whilst working, she transforms into a she-Devil through her fairy avatar.

A true She-Devil!
