Xena passed her a glass filled with water ignoring the ongoing commotion.
Nobody dared to make a speech so loud in front of Hela yet here Vera was accomplishing so. She was truly fearless.
"Are these two going to squabble like cats illustrated in dramas but wouldn't that be too much?"
Melody muttered to herself when a sudden smack landed on her head.
"Ouch!!."
It was Xena. Melody scowled at her.
"What!?"
Her exclamation sound brought all the attention to her. She ducked her head and resumed eating. Xena snickered at her, acquiring her glare.
Sniffing glue, Vera chugged down the entire glass of water trying to cool down her rising temper.
It was laughable.
There were no phone calls, messages, texts, meet-ups, or anything like that. Vera was Hela's very foremost friend she had made in her life and in the academy, and they have stuck around as buddies ever since. At some point, students in the academy had regarded them as sisters than friends.
Nevertheless, in recent years, Hela has steadily wandered away from her friends, not contacting anyone.
Completely detaching herself from the outside world!
Hela's cold but hooded gazes scanned Vera's countenance. It had contorted red with vexation. Her aquatic blue eyes turned a shade darker in anger. Putting the chopstick down, she cropped up the bridge with her hands positioning her captivating face.
"I had some petty meet with somebody from the nether region so I didn't intend to compel misfortune for you fellas."
She spoke in a precise tone. Her one sentence was enough and the fight ended here.
Xena kept driving with her nonchalant facade but Vera and Melody gaped at her with bewildered eyes. Putting up with information about the nether region, Melody got goosebumps. She had taken notice of it but in the news report foremost. Vera on the other hand endeavored to stay mild.
The duo, Vera, and Melody comprehended and had a slight presumption about Hela's past or her backdrop skimming at her personality but they never honed a finger at that because it was none of their concern, what they cared for was an amicable and optimistic future for her.
Hela invariably was frigid and conveyed creepy vibes with her black outfit, but then they were university youngsters. When she hoofed into the business world her dressing style changed but her aura stuck around, aloof and cold.
"You…you still met them."
Vera implied an accusing finger at her.
"I presumed you stopped- "
Vera initiated but was instantly cut off by Hela.
"It's not what you are assuming."
Vera sighed in reassurance but the inquisition gaze of Melody was too decisive to ignore nevertheless she overlooked it.
Here Melody was flabbergasted by their exchange. She elbowed Xena who whizzed in discomfort rubbing her abdomen and roared, "Are you dumb what are you doing? Can't you see I am eating?"
"Stop hogging like a starved animal. Can't you give attention to what they are chattering about? Aren't you interested in their talk?"
Melody questioned with her significant wide eyes. She was resembling a cute panda in that look.
"Listen I'm not interested in their talk and matter. The sole enjoyable forte on the table is the food. So let me eat."
Xena motioned and proceeded with her food-devouring process. Melody sneered at Xena and skimmed back at the nearly harmonized duo curious to learn more about the forbidden territory.
"I am making you the brand ambassador of our new product."
Hela declared darting at Vera. Seizing a drastic bend from the subject they had conversed about just a minute ago. Vera figured out what Hela was trying to do as she peeked at Melody with her peripheral gaze.
She understood. However, hearing Hela's statement her lips contorted in aversion and she elicited, "Oh! So you patched up with me to attain that."
Hela's lips curled up into a smile identical to a smirk and articulated further, "I am inflating your popularity so in return you are indebted to me."
Xena and Melody practically wrung their neck hearing Hela's comment. 'Cool dude' that's what they yearned to say out loud but looking at Vera's expression they latch their jaws.
Though Hela looked insensitive and fearsome but Vera was the most terrifying one in the group. She was like a mother hen, touch her chicks and you will be the spectator to her changing persona. Behind her exquisite eyes and that elegant smile, her ominous self was concealed.
Vera snickered, "And what makes you assertive to remark that statement?"
She raised a question crossing her arm over her curvy bosom. Being a model constantly demanded heavy exercise and workout sessions, driving her body curvier and slim. Right now she looked too bewitching just like a temptress.
"You will know later. So what did you decide?"
Hela asked gathering up her chopsticks. Vera pushed to the limit to look over her cold face but couldn't grasp anything. Like always if Hela wished then only others could get a glimmer of her introspections.
Without thinking extensively, she agreed because she was convinced of Hela's business vision and moreover, what are friends for if they can't agree with something her friends asked for.
And like that, they mended their friendship. There was no necessity for these shallow terms like sorry and thank you in between them but just a nod was adequate.
Melody sighed with ease. At last, the strain and brawl came to an end. She was delighted to find all her buddies being happy.
