Susan and Evelyn reached the venue and were excited to see their favorites play. Most of their fans surrounded them and wished them luck. Susan glanced at Jack and Aaron together, getting inside, and throwing a flattering smile at their fans.
Evelyn tried to meet her favorite Darren, who was captain of Xavier's team walked in serenely, ignoring his fans, waiting for his charming glance at them.
Darren motivated the team members through his speech, as he wanted his last match to be successfully won under his leadership. Jake was overconfident, as he surpassed the opponent team by his goals in the previous games, and said with a smirk on his face, "don't worry. It's upon me to win. It's a piece of work for me."
Darren was quiet and worried about Jake's arrogance as he was underestimating the opponent as a virtue of his negligence; want him to prove that he was capable of leading the team after him, as he is the vice-captain, and showing his absurd quality by being full of himself.
As the match gets started, at first, Xavier's performed well, and the score was good. Later the opponent team of St. Prius gave a tough competition to Xavier's team, and Jake was unable to reach the goal, and their score got low. The team was falling apart by Jake's overconfidence and trying to score himself without passing the ball to others, even if he had a chance to score for the team.
After half-time, Xavier's team was upset by their score, which was hard to pick up in the other half-time if they left it on Jake to score, and by his attitude, not playing by the team and trying to achieve alone. The team members get upset.
Jake feels guilty. Somewhere, he knew that his team was lounging back by his performance. He left to relax and sat on the bench alone, reflecting on where he went wrong and why he couldn't score when he did with ease previously against the same team.
Susan and Evelyn were disappointed that their favorite performance needed to be better.
Evelyn commented, "It's all because of him. Why can't he pass the ball to another teammate to reach the goal? Want to show off how great he is? He is such a loser." Susan was sad to see the distressed look on his face, which made her heart ache to see him in pain.
Susan noticed Jack leaving away from his team. She followed him by leaving Evelyn alone without getting in her notice.
She watched him worrying about his game, and she wished to approach and comfort him, but she couldn't. She thought of an idea, took a notepad and pen from her bag, and wrote a letter to him, his anonymous secret admirer.
She gave the letter to a security guard who works in the stadium and asked him a favor, "Sir, could you please deliver this letter to the person sitting on the bench?"
He glanced at Jake, took her letter, and handed it to him, saying, "The girl asked you to deliver." Jake thanked him and opened the letter to read it.
She wrote, "I think you may feel annoyed if I say your performance was not good enough. But it's true. The game is not yet finished. I think you know where you were wrong, and reflecting on yourself. Still, you have enough time to prove that you are worth winning, not by being yourself, but by being with your team. As your admirer, it's my first match. I am watching you play. I wish you luck. Waiting to see your delighted smile after winning the match."
At first, Jake smirked after reading her letter, "it's such a childish and old-fashioned way to flirt."
After a few minutes, her words made sense to him, and he had always been himself when he was playing, wanting to show everyone that he was talented and the best player on his team. He made himself clear and wanted to play as a team by coordinating with them and winning this match.
Jake thanked her in his mind for making him realize his mistake in her way, 'Thank you. Making me realize my mistake.' If he heard those exact words from others, he might not be able to take them seriously and think they are trying to point out his mistakes deliberately. But her words encouraged him and motivated him to correct his error.
He decided to get back to play with determination to win by cooperating with the team to score better. Even if they lose the game today, they might not end up regretting that he didn't give them a chance to score for the team, and he decided to apologize for his mistake and move to reach his teammates.
