On the day of Jake's presentation, he was a bit nervous and fidgety, roaming outside the presentation hall and waiting for his call.
Meanwhile, Jake saw Susan arrive along with Katie. She noticed the distress on his face. He approached her, saying, "Why are you so late?"
"Sorry," she said calmly.
Katie hugged Aaron and gave her wishes by kissing his cheek. Jake and Susan were awkwardly laughing at seeing their affection. Susan cleared her throat and wished him "Good luck."
Jake shook his head in her response. She assessed him from top to bottom. He looks handsome in the formals; his crocked collar and tie caught her attention.
Suddenly, Jake was startled to see Susan approach him, adjusting his collar and tie. While adjusting his tie, his eyes were stuck to her face, scanning her closely, her cute diamond shape face with perfect jawline, dark eyes, long eyelashes, thin eyebrows, a sharp nose, and pink lips.
Unintentionally, he stroked her hair and stuck it behind her ear. She looks up to face him when she feels his touch on her ear; they are lost in each other's eyes.
Both get distracted as someone calls Jake's name and informs him about his call for presentation. He just told her, "Let's go out in the evening. It's my treat."
She nodded, "Do it well." He left for the presentation room. She had a smile on her face thinking of him.
Jane was outraged by witnessing their closeness, affection, and care for each other. She wished to go to her and warn her to stay away from Jake, but she controlled herself. She left by driving her car harshly. She hit her vehicle with the motorbike while crossing the road.
Jane and the person on the motorbike were hospitalized to treat their injuries.
Jane's mom, Ashley, the founder of Elixir cosmetics, reached the hospital along with her manager, Ms. Savvy, and intern assistant, John. She rushed as soon as she heard about Jane's accident. Her heart ached to see her dear daughter with the cast on her right hand and hospitalized. She asked her with concern, "Are you fine, dear?"
"I'm fine, mom."
"How it happened? Are you drunk early in the morning?"
"Of course not. I was lost in some thoughts."
"I need you would be safe. From now, you won't drive. I'll hire a driver for you."
"Mom! I'm excellent. I don't need a driver."
"I won't listen," Ashley ordered her manager, "hire a driver for Jane."
She turned to Jane and informed her, "I'm leaving for a meeting and will return after a week. Please inform John if you need anything; he will handle it. I asked Ms. Casie to take care of you."
She kissed her forehead, "Take care, dear." Jane nodded, upset to see her mother leave along with her manager.
Ms. Casie, Jane's chief housemaid, arrived along with food. John excused himself, saying, "I'll wait outside. Call me if you need me."
In the evening, after dinner at the restaurant, Susan and Jake were about to leave in the cab. Jake thanked her again, "Thank you so much. Even professors praised me, saying, I did a nice job."
Susan replied, "My pleasure."
Coincidently, she finds her mom with a man walking by, holding hands, and getting inside the same restaurant she had just left. Susan bid her bye to Jake and parted ways.
Jake heard about Jane's accident on the way to his home and reached the hospital to visit her. When he arrived, he saw John helping her to sit straight, and he rushed and moved John aside and asked her worriedly, "How it happened? Why didn't you inform me soon?"
She replied to him sarcastically, "Why would you care for me anymore? Recently you were busy with someone else."
"What nonsense? Don't you know how much I care for you? Don't say you are mad at me?"
"Of course. You have been ignoring me since you made some new friends."
"Such a kid you are; always been jealous of everyone who approaches me. You and Aaron were special to me. No one can change this fact."
"I understand. Can you stay with me until I sleep?" She asked him.
"Sure." John handed him the medicine, and Jane took her pill and rested. Jake gently patted her head until she fell asleep.
John was upset to see Jake caring for Jane and left her ward and informed Casie, "I'm leaving. Call me if you need help."
"I discussed with the doctor regarding her discharge. Come early to finish the formalities." To which he shook his head in acceptance.
John reached his apartment and lay on his bed, thinking of Jane and Jake. 'Why it hurts me whenever I see them together? Was it because of my unrequited love for Jane? I still feel for her even after knowing I didn't have a little chance to get her as my beloved one. So, I couldn't do anything unless seeing her happy with her crush.
