Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Susan was sitting alone in her class and concentrating on her studies. Meanwhile, Aaron and Jake walked into her class, sat beside her, and asked her, "I want a favor from you, Susan."

"What is it about?" She said, gazing at their awkward faces.

Aaron and Jake stared at each other suspiciously. Aaron told her, "Every time Jake runs late to submit his project. Could you help him with his project and finish it on time?"

"Why me? I am a junior. I don't know more." She replied, looking at Aaron and Jake.

"Please, Susan. Please help me. I heard from Katie that you're a bright student. I'm nothing in studies. Can't you help me?" She hesitated to say no to him. But she was not sure that she could help him with his project.

Jake continued seeing her calmly, thinking about his request, "Professor warned me that if I don't finish my project on time, he won't allow me to continue participating in the next soccer tournament, which is in the next month. You know how much I like to play. I can't take Aaron's help this time. His father warned him not to help me anymore with my studies and reasoned that I need to learn to be responsible for myself."

"Aaron's father?"

Aaron replied, "Don't you know Mr. Wilson was my father? Our college Chairman."

Susan was shocked to hear that Mr. Wilson was Aaron's father, and that's why Aaron's personality reflects his calm and composed personality.

After a few seconds, she agreed, "Fine. I'll help you." She looked at Jake. Jake and Aaron thanked her.

Susan and Jake were sitting in the café doing his project research together, and he was focused. In the middle, Susan stopped and asked, "complete this part by yourself until I finish my work." He nodded and concentrated on his laptop.

Susan opened her book and prepared for her internal exams. Suddenly, Jake watched her hair troubling, and she kept tucking it behind her ear, and it fell again.

Jake saw her struggling with her hair and took his wristband, helped her by standing behind her, slowly took her hair in his hands, gently brushed it with his fingers, and tied it. She was frozen as his fingers brushed her neck, gave her a shiver in her veins, and her whole body lost control over her mind, just feeling his fingers on her nape. He said, "Now, it won't trouble you."

Jake took back his seat, gazing at her patiently, expecting her to thank him, but her eyes were on her book without a movement or expression. Jake called her "Susan."

Her gaze fell on him as he distracted her from her thoughts. She focused on his face and lips, recalling her kiss from the day she stole her first kiss.

Suddenly, she felt thirsty, grabbed the glass of water right before her on the table, and gulped to quench her thirst. It relieved her stress. But, when she saw Jake staring at her worriedly, making her recall and feel his touch, she couldn't control herself and excused herself, saying, "Sorry, I have to leave."

Jake grabbed her hand to stop, "Where are you leaving? We haven't finished yet."

"I have some important work which can't be delayed," she continued after seeing him upset, "Don't worry. I don't give up. Let's continue tomorrow." With a smile.

Jake relaxed and relieved her hand, saying, "I'll wait for you." She nodded and left in a hurry.

Jake noticed her books on the table that she had left behind. He took her book with him deciding to return her the next day.

After reaching home, Jake lay on his bed, throwing his bag on the couch and relaxing by closing his eyes. Suddenly he opened his eyes by popping an idea into his mind to check Susan's handwriting with the letter of his secret admirer to compare.

He got off his bed, fetched his bag, took her notes out, grabbed one of her letters from the study desk drawer, and compared them closely. He feels disappointed by not matching Susan's writing with her, then he concludes, 'she is not Susan,' whom he is dreaming about the meeting. He decided to think of Susan as his good friend and nothing anymore.

He returned Susan's book to her, and they were both focused on finishing his project on time. After completing his task, she wished him "good luck with his presentation."

He asked her to come and greet him on the day of his presentation. She agreed.
