Susan waited for Katie to return from college in her room. She saw through her window that Katie had been dropped in Aaron's car, and Jake was in the car.
Here, Aaron and Kaite were busy discussing their plans for the weekend. Jake keeps beeping his car to disturb them. Kaite was irked by his annoying behavior.
Jake calls Aaron, "shorten your discussion and get back. We're getting late to the party." Aaron gets back to his car by giving a hug to Katie.
Katie returned to her room after Aaron left and found Susan waiting for her in the room, "Have you finished your extra classes early?" Susan nodded.
Susan asked Katie curiously, "Who was that guy in the car beeping loudly?"
Katie replied by settling things from her bag and taking out clothes to get changed, "It's an annoying guy from college. Unfortunately, Aaron's cousin and childhood friend, Jake."
She continued, "I had never seen that kind of annoyed person. He is narcissistic and a playboy. I don't understand why all girls from our college were after him. I think they are blind. I don't like him at all." She went to the washroom to change after finishing her words.
Susan thought, 'whatever I have seen was totally against Katie's words. I feel he is a kind-hearted person and fascinating. However, I indeed like him. If possible, I will meet him and tell him about my feeling.'
After a few weeks, Susan went to a club with her friends and coincidently found Jake in the club with a girl beside him. She looks arrogant and so full of herself, standing beside him closely while he is enjoying the view of others dancing joyfully.
Susan gazed at him from a distance and noticed that when the girl was around him, no other girl approached him. After she left, the girls asked him to dance along as she got a call. But he rejected them politely and enjoyed drinks.
One of Susan's friends, Renne, her classmate, observed her stealing gazes at Jake constantly. She leaned over and whispered, "Have you flattered?"
Susan suddenly turned to her and unintentionally jabbed her arm. Renne held onto her pain not to scream, and Susan apologized for being clumsy.
Renne laughed at her seeing her panic, and said by putting her arm on her shoulder, "I'm fine, dear."
"Are you really into him?" Renne asked Susan with concern by offering her a drink, with her eyes pointing toward Jake; Susan replied with a simple nod in acceptance.
Renne explained to Susan, "It's okay to admire someone, but he is beyond our level. Did you see the girl beside him hanging out just now? She is Jane, his childhood friend, and she can't let anyone approach him when she is with him. Most importantly, he never says anything to her. Maybe, they are together. Those rich guys flirt with girls around and play with them. Later they choose one which is advantageous to themselves and for their future. Jake was one of them. He is popular and rich, not different from them."
Renne comforted Susan by rubbing her back, "Giving up in the initial stage is way better. I knew you were different; you prefer a serious relationship to a fling for fun. I don't want to see you suffering for unrequited love."
After reaching home, Susan thought about Renne's words, making her disappointed and worried. She was lost in thoughts. Somewhere, Renne's words made sense to her.
On the contrary, she opposed herself thinking that way, 'he was a friend of Aaron, who loves Katie the most. Even though he is rich and flirty, he could be genuine and sincere to the one whom he cares about and love for.'
Another hand, she was worried about comparing herself with Jane, looking at a mirror. She tries to do better, removes her glasses, and constantly gazes at her reflection in the mirror. She thinks, 'It's fine if he doesn't like me as I'm. It's enough he acknowledges my affection.'
She decided to say goodbye to her glasses which she was bored and to get a lens with her pocket money, which was not enough to buy the pair. She decided to help her mom with her bakery and asked her to pay for her work. Her mom agreed.
