When Susan returned from his father's house the next day after celebrating Evelyn's birthday, she was about to visit her mom's bakery on her way home. Suddenly, rain poured outside. She ran into the heavy rain to take shelter near the Café at the corner of the street, walked inside, and ordered a hot coffee to warm herself.
After finishing her coffee, she walked out of the café after paying the bill, standing in front of the café with the patient until the rain stopped in the coldness of her wet clothes. She observed an elderly lady with an umbrella in her hand struggling to cross the road to get shelter from the heavy rain.
A handsome stranger in a black jacket followed her from behind, lifted her in his arms, and helped her to cross the road in the heavy rain by standing beside me.
Susan scanned him closely; he was tall with broad shoulders, a handsome face, brown eyes, and dark black hair. She fell for him at first sight and couldn't take her eyes off him.
The elderly lady thanked him by patting his head affectionately. Susan was quietly watching them. As he turned to her, she flipped her face and pretended she had not seen him.
Jake watched her rubbing her arms from the coldness in her wet clothes. He stepped forward, put on his leather jacket for her from behind, and noticed that the rain was slightly getting down its force and continued drizzling, and he ran to cross the road in the shower and left in his car.
Susan was impressed by his kindness, especially he got off his car, helped the elderly lady, and he gave her his jacket.
After the rain stopped, she returned to her mom's bakery and changed her wet clothes into warm ones after taking them from her mom's locker in the changing room. Both she and her mom get home after their work is finished.
Susan was on her bed, lost in the thoughts of the stranger who helped her. She got off the bed, took the jacket from her bag, washed it, and dried it on her balcony. She was surprised to see the coat was well branded and expensive, thinking that he might be rich, 'He is nice. I'll return it when I meet him again.'
After a few days, Susan saw him on her way to her classmate's home for group studies in the evening. He was fighting with some guys in front of the club. For a moment, she thought of him as a crook, seeing him in an ugly fight with the guys for a girl.
She recognized Aaron, her friend Katie's boyfriend, meddled in their fight and sorted the issue with the help of the club manager, arresting them by the police.
The club manager thanked him for helping the girl from the four guys who harassed her with mischievous behavior toward their customers.
The girl also thanked him, "Thanks for helping me to fight against them." He just gave her a simple nod in response. Later she leaves with the police to file a report against them.
Aaron said sarcastically, seeing him in pain with bruises on his face and scratches on his arm, "Do you think it's easy to be a hero for someone with a fight? If you do so, you must also endure the pain."
Susan feels sorry for misunderstanding him and is happy to know he was a friend of Aaron. She went nearby pharmacy to get medicine for him.
Jake said to Aaron, "don't make it worse with your harsh words. I'm already in pain. Do you think it leaves marks on my face?" by touching the bruises on his face.
"Are you worried about your handsome face? Anything could happen to you in a fight. Don't you think to call the police over a fight? want to show off, right?" Aaron said. Jake was irritated by his nagging and asked him to get medicine.
Meanwhile, she returned the medicine, 'It's not the right time to meet him,' and asked a person passing nearby a favor to hand over the medication to him.
The person handed the medicine to Jake, and he wondered who had sent it to him. He enquired the person about the sender, "Who asked you to give it to me?"
The person pointed toward her, saying, "a girl from there asked to hand it to you." Susan was startled as the person pointed his finger at her. She ran away from there to hide in the nearby store.
Aaron and Jake looked toward whom he was pointing. But they found none over there. Aaron teased Jake by saying, "You have so many followers who have a heart for you. She might be someone from them."
Jake smiled at him, saying, "It's true." And both left in their car.
Susan returned home and was lost in the thoughts of Jake all night in her bed. She felt her heart thumping whenever she thought of him, realized that she liked him, and decided to ask Katie to know more about him.
