"Where are you coming from looking like that? And gosh, you reek of alcohol."
Lexi asked Jesy with a scornful look like she owned the house, it was unusual to see Jesy coming home by this time and looking so dishevelled and…different, Lexi was having a bad feeling about how Jesy was looking but she decided to just brush it off and just face the probing matter at hand.
She enjoyed the torments she'd been giving Jesy and she so much wanted it to remain that way, Lydia was already standing behind Lexi as she peeked at Jesy. Although Lydia had a scornful look on her face that was directed at Jesy in her mind, she felt a little bit confused.
Jesy was completely oblivious to what was happening around her, her mind was foggy as her blurry vision stared at Lexi. Jesy barely heard what Lexi said because her head was clouded with sad memories as they kept playing like a movie trailer, she took a step forward in an attempt to step into the house but Lexi blocked her by closing the door a little bit further not completely. Jesy frowned at the blurry figure that was trying to obstruct her from entering the house, by now she was barely standing still as the effect of the alcohol was playing out.
Lexi was baffled, she could have sworn that this was the very first time she was ever seeing Jesy in this kind of condition, she was wondering what had made Jesy go and drink herself to a stupor.
"You depressed bi*tch! Did you go to a bar to get drunk? How pathetic, you must be feeling miserable and that was why you decided to drown yourself in a cheap drink, tsk tsk, you look pitiful."
Lexi scrutinized Jesy with curiosity. It was new to see Jesy drunk this way and Lexi wondered what was it that triggered Jesy and brought her to this state. Lexi knew about Jesy's relationship with a rich guy. At first, Lexi was really angry that Jesy could find herself a rich boyfriend and she did everything to badmouth Jesy before their parents she was also waiting for the opportunity to do so before Jesy's so-called boyfriend.
Jesy who had currently been swaying left and right under the influence of the alcohol suddenly stopped, she stood still and her eyes became razor-sharp as she shot them towards Lexi. The cold air suddenly became suffocating and freezing to the extent of instant goosebumps. For some unknown reason, Lexi's statement brought a sudden reminder of the relationship she once had with a rich guy and it made her demeanour change, she hated the reminder of it because it did nothing but brought a painful prickle in her chest and it only made her infuriated with her self.
When she first met Josh, she thought he was the perfect example of a perfect gentleman, he was handsome, caring, well-mannered, understanding, intelligent and most of all, he was rich. His beautiful smile was powerful enough to bring shame to any woman and it could make them kowtow before him. He was simply the prince charming in a happily ever after fairy tale, the kind of person any woman would want to spend the rest of her life with and Jesy would swear that she wasn't an exception, she had thought he was the knight in shining armour that would take her away from her miserable life and bring her to the one filled with rainbows and unicorns but everything was just simply a fake and a lie.
It was only his facade and the trump card he used in luring women to his bed, he was naturally a beauty and it wasn't a difficult thing to get any woman of his choice to his bed and money wasn't a problem for him because he was a very rich guy that could get whatever it was that he wanted.
Lydia and Lexi suddenly felt a chill run down their spines, they shivered as their eyes fell on Jesy's ice-cold eyes that were boring holes into their poor souls. Lexi in particular was surprised. In all their lives living together in one house, she had never seen Jesy this aloof before because Jesy had always been the vulnerable girl that would take the hit whichever way it was given to her, Jesy never fought back, neither had she ever been angry for any reason and it was because Jesy had been bearing everything they did to her, she just thought that if she never fought back then she would be loved by their parents the same way they loved Lexi.
What Lexi didn't know was that it was her statement that brought the chilling air from Jesy.
Jesy took threatening slow steps forward, her eyes particularly trained on Lexi, she look like a completely different person, it was as if she was suddenly possessed by something like a witch reincarnate that was bound on bringing her wrath to the earth or was it to Lexi rather. Lexi and Lydia both felt the threat oozing out of Jesy's being and they both took cautious steps backwards as Jesy took hers forward, they were suddenly scared to their wits that they could pee on their pants. Cold sweat already broke out on Lexi's forehead as her scared eyes sharpened at Jesy for any harmful move.
