Sage hurried into the hall with his guards trotting behind him. He had summoned the elders to a meeting to inform them about the other night since he needed to reveal to them what had happened.
Everyone stood up and waited for him to take his seat and he did. He scanned everywhere in the room and he saw his dad and Alpha Cowell sitting at his left-hand side. He nodded to them and they returned it with a nod. Then he turned to the shifters present and greeted them as usual. When the greetings died out, he began to make his speech.
"We had a raid in the pack yesterday night and it appeared that the assailants happened to be the ones that had attacked us the last time we went to Autumn pack. We also found a badge from one of the dead assassins," He shifted on his seat and continued. "I have sent the Beta and some shifters to the neighbourhood packs to search for the badge and I hope for a positive result. Likewise, I sensed that the Autumn pack weren't behind the assassins but they had sent in another threat stating that we should grant the pup his request from the other time unless a war will come in," he disclosed looking from one eye to another.
"What does the badge look like?" King Cowell asked and Sage went on to explain how the badge was designed.
Alpha Cowell and Beta Craig shared a glance, shooting their head before returning it to their Alpha King.
"I told them to take some goods and act like marketers so no one would be suspicious of them," Sage told everyone present.
"So thoughtful of you, Sage," Alpha Cowell complimented him.
Sage bowed his head to return his gratitude and once more faced the audience," Right now we need to await those that had gone to the neighbourhood pack so we can know what steps we will be taking and while we wait, I need us to contemplate on how you think we should reply to Alpha Huston threat. The pup wants my mate which is impossible. Aurora is my mate and no one else," Sage conveyed with a growl.
Just then, an elder, the leader of one of the regions called Hills Region stood up to make his suggestion. "I think you are taking time to claim your mate. You should mark her and make her yours if ever you don't want to drag her with anyone, maybe when the pup sees that she's mated to someone and claimed by you, he might restrain himself," The leader called Elder Paul declared and the hall went silent.
Sage knew that was what everyone would suggest for him but what could he do when he mustn't mark his mate and how would he explain the reason behind why he wasn't marking her yet, that's if he would eventually claim her as his?
This time it was his father that covered up for him. "His mate had some kind of illness and is on treatment so that he wouldn't worsen the illness after claiming her, he decided to hold on for the main time till she's healed," Beta Craig explained, covering up for Sage.
Sage nodded his head in agreement while the elders looked at each other confused.
"This is so bad. Aurora never told us about this," Elder Paul said.
"How could she say something that embarrassing? This is a personal secret you mustn't leak to anyone. I'm sure you know how aggressively she'll react when she gets to know that my father told you this. I will be glad if all of us focused more on finding a better remedy," Sage divulged. He then turned to Alpha Cowell, "I think we should have the pup here again and plead with him to choose someone else and gift him, what do you think?" He inquired.
"That'll be a good idea too," Alpha Cowell said, "However, that pup seems stubborn to accept that offer but we could give it a try."
"Okay, I will send the Herald to Autumn pack as soon as possible," Saga said and stood up from the throne to dismiss their meeting.
Sage strode through the hallway with his guards behind him and when he got to his door, the guards halted and bowed to him and the two guarding his room also did the same as they opened the door for him to go in.
When he entered, he met Aurora on the bed, wiggling her legs as she read through the novels she was reading. She knew he had entered but ignored him and continued to read.
Sage also said nothing and went fully in. He grunt and pulled out the heavy robe he was wearing and Aurora was left to giggle to herself seeing how he struggled to pull off the robe.
Her eyes followed him as he moved to their closet and hung the robe then he brought out his nightwear to put on. She scrutinized him until he went into the bathroom to take his shower.
Some minutes later he was back but Aurora was in no mood to make a mockery of him again since she was already feeling sleepy.
Sage joined her on the bed and shook his head when he saw she was trying her best to stay awake to read her novel. He pulled the novel from her grip and put it away while she stared at him with drowsy eyes.
He veered back to her and pulled her onto himself as they kept fanning their breath against each other. "Why didn't you attend the meeting we had?" he asked.
"I'm tired of putting on that robe," she mumbled and sneezed.
Sage touched and caressed her forehead, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm just stressed out."
"What did you do today at the Academy?"
"I trained the fighters," she disclosed.
"You're stressing yourself, Aurora. Can't you just_" he was cut off when her hands closed his mouth.
"I want to sleep, can you let me?"
She closed her eyes and dropped down her hand from his mouth while he continued to gawk at her until they both fell asleep.
