Elinor’s POV
Alucard walked me back to my room so I could rest in preparation for our time together. But the thing was, trying to rest was like trying to hold the wind in my hand. Impossible!
In the end, I got to my room and found myself anxiously awaiting the time when he would knock on my door and, in his words, ‘steal me away’.
And I couldn’t help but wonder what Fenrir would think of our wanderings… assuming he cared who it was I was spending time with.
I sighed deeply and sat on the chair by the window. I could see Fenrir's side of the castle from there and wondered what went on within those walls. But that was all that I could ever do… because I wasn’t allowed there.
The truth was, no matter how my relationship with the Emperor had evolved, the fact remained that he was still a mystery to me. And I feared that he always would be. Not because I wanted it that way, but rather because he chose it to be such.
