Chapter 7 - Conflict

"Hiccup! "

Nadine threw up because of fear.

That's accurate.

Ricky resembled a man who dominates in every way.

Resolute and absolute.

"Hiccup! Hiccup! "

Her legs gradually lost strength.

She couldn't move because Ricky's gaze was so terrible.

"Na-Nadine, is everything fine? How are you feeling?"

She was eventually dragged away by her wrist by the girl who had come with her

He looked at Nadine being dragged over the ground and then turned his head away.

Slash!

Slash!

He recommenced practicing his slash.

"I might earn a really good reward if I get a high rank during the boss raid."

The bosses that arrive every fifteen days are challenging.

Regardless of how well they battle, some will unavoidably perish.

But if he manages to defeat the boss decisively, he might get a weapon of Fine Rank or higher.

"A Fine Rank is adequate."

While following the river and getting out of the forest, a Fine Rank weapon was more than enough to defeat the creatures.

He was able to compensate for his inferior weapon because of his experience

"

Eight days have passed.

There were currently 17 surviving people.

One to two persons died each day after the early day's fatalities.

After learning that they would all perish if they didn't fight for their lives, everyone had become desperate.

However, not everyone was helpful.

"Let's cut down on our size."

Linley raised his voice.

He had been ranked third for the previous few days.

He had a shaved head, was in his mid-twenties, and had tattoos all over his body.

Others were alarmed by his appearance.

A few people were gathered around him.

"Which numbers do you mean? "

One of them, a man asked, swallowing his saliva as he felt scared.

" There is not enough food, but there are too many useless bastards."

Linley stated while crossing his arms.

Only the top 3 hunters received food.

Even though it was merely stale bread preserved by magic, it was nevertheless the most crucial resource here.

Martin and Linley have been dividing the bread evenly up until this point, but there was a limit to what they can give.

17 individuals shared the already meager amount of food.

Each person essentially subsisted on half a loaf of bread every day.

A few people slightly twitch.

No one had touched the monster corpses since someone perished in anguish after eating grilled monster flesh.

Their only hope was bread, but if Linley shuts off their supply, many people will be forced to fend for themselves.

In this world, going hungry will result in death.

"So let's make the useless bums fight each other or whatever to minimize the numbers of useless people here."

Linley added while grinning.

"Oh, Linley"

Martin came up to him.

Linley face him up and said.

"Stop trying to act hypocritically. Were we not already doing enough for them? "

"Keeping everyone alive is our goal."

"That is the reason, you thick bastard. Let's eliminate the unnecessary ones. Do you notice the person with no arms? What is he supposed to accomplish without arms? It would be beneficial if he could act at least as a meat shield."

"Linley! "

Martin spoke louder.

No other option existed.

The decision was only challenging at the first time, but after that, it would only become simpler. "

There will ultimately only be a small percentage of people left if they begin to eliminate the useless individuals.

Martin kept his guard up.

The group that is still alive would soon disintegrate if its conscience perished and only the self-centered individuals survived.

Linley grabs his head.

"Your voice is so freaking loud, bitch. Although you're fine with it, I'm pretty sure most people aren't content with our situation as it stands. "

Linley turned her attention away from Martin and focused on the individuals in the area.

Everyone's cheeks began to collapse, making them appear rather undernourished.

The difference between the useful and the useless was evident.

Those who were somewhat useful began to sneer at those who weren't as helpful.

It seems like the unhappiness accumulated throughout the previous few days rather than being limited to one or two days.

Linley stared him down.

He nevertheless delivered a sizable amount of food throughout the previous five days.

He had no business risking his safety to protect others when it wasn't his job to do so.

This wasn't good news, though, for Martin.

"Please stop here Linley. There will be a lot who will suffer from starvation."

"Well, I don't fucking care? Living is difficult for me as well."

Linley eagerly consumed a loaf of bread while watching the audience after pulling it out.

"Let's implement a system of bartering. You know I'm not that heartless. I'll exchange it for bread if you give me a fair price. or develop into someone I can use. I believe I can feed up to six people, yes."

He chose a particular number for a very clear purpose.

He desired to establish his group.

In a place like this, the rule of law was power.

There was power in numbers.

Although they were together, it was only a public declaration till recently.

It wasn't as influential as a faction.

"So he anticipated this time to happen."
