In addition to the ten main buildings, there are also seven other outbuildings. The seven buildings consist of five buildings for each of the five types of extracurricular clubs, one canteen, and one warehouse.
Class [1-D] is located in one of the ten main buildings and is identified by the code "Class [D]" on the upper wall of the entrance. Class [1-D] is on the fourth floor of this building. There are thirty students in classes [1-D], sixteen of whom are female. Jono chose a seat around the middle area and next to the outside window that could see the view around the class [D] building.
Each student chooses his or her table and chair. Some of the students were just starting to get acquainted with the people near them, but Jono just sat in his chair, observing the outside scenery by slightly tilting his head and resting his head on one of his hands.
After all the students got their seats, a middle-aged man entered the classroom. As the middle-aged man entered the classroom, the new students, who were quite active and talking to their new friends, immediately closed their mouths and sat in their respective chairs in a polite form.
"Good morning!" greeted the middle-aged man first, and the new students responded spontaneously, "Morning, sir!"
"My name is Wili, and I will be the homeroom teacher for class [1-D] from now on," continued the middle-aged man named Wili, speaking in a tone that was not too loud but could be heard by all the students in that class.
"First and foremost, to begin today's class, I invite the students in this class to stand up and introduce themselves one by one," said Mr. Wili.
Mr. Wili has a pretty good posture. He has slightly curly black hair that is cut short. He has thick eyebrows, as well as a thin mustache, and a short beard.
Mr. Wili is currently wearing a uniform intended for teachers with a light brown shirt top and long cloth pants that are light brown too. He wears black leather shoes without laces and carries a kind of small square bag, which he holds with his left hand while his right-hand holds a pile of papers and some sort of books.
After Mr. Wili instructed the students to introduce themselves, the student sitting in the front corner began to introduce himself. This introductory process lasts until the students sitting in the back corner or all the new students introduce themselves. All students introduce themselves and talk about their name, age, place of residence, talents, and super ability. However, not a few also add something that's not important to their introductions or rather show off their strengths, whether it's in the field of power level, showing off their super abilities, backgrounds, or anything else.
In this class [1-D], there are nineteen students with [C] aptitude and eleven students with [D] aptitude. Among the thirty students, six of them are element controllers, seven are body transformers, seven are spiritas, and ten are unique.
Mr. Wili checked the student list he brought with him after all the students had finished introducing themselves. After finishing checking, Mr. Wili said, "The real school lessons will begin in a few days; for today, I will only explain some basic things".
"In this high school, the first-year students will study three main subjects."
"The first is the fundamental science of magic, the second is general science and natural science, and the third is fundamental martial arts knowledge and wilderness survival."
"Those three main subjects will be taught mostly in this classroom; only at certain times will we use other, more special places," said Mr. Wili without further ado. He then observed his new students' expressions before continuing, "And one more thing that new students should do is register themselves in at least one extracurricular club."
"You must all sign up for at least one extracurricular club within the next three days."
"In our school, there are five types of extracurricular clubs: unarmed martial arts extracurricular club, armed martial arts extracurricular club, long-range martial arts extracurricular club, science and research extracurricular club, and lastly is the culture and arts extracurricular club."
Mr. Wili spent nearly two hours explaining various aspects of high school. His many explanations include four interesting activities for Jono to remember. There is competition between students in one class, competition between students in one batch in this school, and competition between high schools in West Witwur City. The last one is the opportunity to hunt beasts in a wild zone where there are many beasts.
In order to have a chance to hunt beasts in the wild zone, students must rank in the top hundred out of all students at this high school. This ranking is the accumulated ranking of the five extracurricular clubs. Each extracurricular club will deposit the names of students who are ranked in the top twenty in each club, which are then accumulated to become the top hundred students' ranking.
After finishing explaining basic things to the new students, Mr. Wili left the classroom and allowed the students to talk to their classmates. At first, every new student is very awkward in social situations, including Jono. However, after a while, some of the students were even close to each other; some of them had even made their playgroups, and some were just silent, like Jono.
Jono sat in his chair, looking out the window. His right hand plays with a pencil, and his left hand he uses to rest his head. From time to time, he shifted his gaze to some of the students in his class, from the loudest to the quietest.
There was someone who, from the beginning, just didn't do anything. He was a young boy sitting in the second row from the front. The boy has short black hair with glasses, thick eyebrows, and a nose that is not too sharp. His height is equal to Jono's.
Because Jono was too bored, he then approached the lonely boy. He forgot the boy's name because he didn't pay much attention during the self-introduction session.
Jono is actually quite shy when it comes to interacting with others. But he attempted to approach the teenager. The teenage boy greeted him with embarrassment before he attempted to say hello. Seeing the teenage boy nod at him, he nodded back.
"Hello, my name is Jono," Jono said first, holding out his hand to invite handshakes.
"Hello, my name is Alvi," the boy said after briefly turning his head towards Jono.
The two of them then began chatting until school was over. Official high school lessons last until twelve o'clock and are usually followed by extracurricular club's activities, except today because it is the first day of school.
After chatting for a long time with Alvi, Jono found out a little about him. Alvi is not someone who likes to be alone, but he is just someone who is shy around people he doesn't know. After getting to know Jono well enough, Alvi invited Jono to chat non-stop, which actually made he regret taking the initiative to invite Alvi to chat first.
Alvi is a spiritas, and he has a beast-type guardian spirit, which is a common type of guardian spirit for a spiritas. He is just like Jono; he is also an orphan.
Alvi lives in complex twelve in the Akar Public Residential District of the outer area. He lives alone in an apartment left by his parents.
When school time was over, Jono immediately walked to go home. But when he was just walking out towards the school gate, Alvi approached him.
"Hey, let's hang out before we go home," said Alvi, quite enthusiastically.
Jono was also interested; he rarely or seldom played out, let alone with other people. "Hang out where?" Jono asked.
"Just go to JSG; there is a famous place that has a lot of street food; a lot of students come there after school," Alvi explained.
Hearing the name of the place reminded Jono of the bad experience he had a few days ago. He became unsure whether he should hang out at JSG with Alvi.
"It's been a long time since the incident; perhaps the two robbers have forgotten about me," Jono reasoned quietly.
When Alvi noticed he was silent, he grabbed his shoulder and asked, "Are you coming? Come on, let's go!"
Even though he was hesitant, Jono nodded after some more thought. "All right, come on," he replied.
JSG is only one kilometer away from their high school. Jono and Alvi made the decision to walk to JSG.
"Al, can you show me your guardian spirit?" asked Jono, interested in seeing Alvi's super ability. Jono calls Alvi, Al, while Alvi calls Jono, Jon.
"Jon, my guardian spirit is just a bird-like beast," said Alvi, as if not proud of his super ability. Even so, he still activated his super ability, which a few moments later manifested as a guardian spirit like a beast-like bird made of wind that flew around his body.
"Wow," Jono said briefly. Alvi's guardian spirit is actually not very attractive to others because his guardian spirit's appearance is very ordinary.
