Chapter 32 - Choice

The second day of school took place almost like the first day. It's just that on the second day, representatives from extracurricular clubs gave a presentation to each first-year class to promote their club.

Jono wants to join all types of clubs thanks to promotions and presentations from club representatives. Because each type of extracurricular club has its own set of benefits, he wishes to take advantage of all of them.

Jono thought about it because he was someone who was obsessed with strength, ability, and knowledge. But unfortunately, each student can only register for a maximum of two extracurricular clubs.

And if a student has registered for a certain extracurricular club, he or she cannot leave or change the extracurricular club until graduation. Furthermore, extracurricular grades play an important role in applying to universities or academies. If one of their extracurricular grades is bad, not only will their points be reduced, but it will also affect their grades when they enroll in a university or an academy.

"I have to think about what extracurricular club I should choose because this will improve my proficiency in certain areas," Jono said while thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of each extracurricular club.

On the third day of school, Jono finally decided what extracurricular club he will join. He then joined two extracurricular clubs.

The two extracurricular clubs he chose were unarmed martial arts and armed martial arts. He is very interested in the other three extracurricular clubs, too. However, due to the maximum limit, he can only choose the extracurricular clubs he needs the most at the moment.

"I think, for now, it's better to improve my martial arts proficiency," he said, while confirming his choice.

Matters like this always made him confused and upset. But for now, he will focus on raising his martial arts proficiency and power level.

Most students will join an extracurricular club that is related to their area of expertise or favorite field.

"What extracurricular club did you join, Jon?" Alvi inquired as he took a seat next to Jono.

Hearing Alvi's question, Jono looked at Alvi for a moment, then looked back at the atmosphere outside the window while controlling his right hand, which was playing with a pencil.

"Unarmed martial arts and armed martial arts extracurricular clubs," answered Jono in a flat tone. "You?" he asked, still playing with the pencil in his hand.

"I joined up for a long-range martial arts extracurricular club," replied Alvi with a slightly excited tone.

"Oh, you said you used to learn to use long-range weapons; is that why you want to join the club, Al?" asked Jono curiously.

"Yep, I have several long-range weapons at home, a legacy from my father," said Alvi with a sigh. He looks a bit depressed when it comes to the topic of his family.

Jono noticed that Alvi was a bit down in the mood, and he knew why, because he was also a bit like that when it came to the topic of his family. But it turned out that Jono was thinking too much about Alvi's feelings; it turns out that Alvi then immediately got excited again before he tried to encourage him.

"Let's take the training weapons and basic techniques together," Alvi exclaimed enthusiastically.

"OK," Jono replied quickly.

Alvi joined one extracurricular club because he had a lot of experience with one type of long-range weapon, which is a type of firearm. Alvi can hone his skills in this extracurricular club to become even more proficient.

His super ability also has the advantage of helping him in this type of long-range martial arts. With this ability, he can get pretty good grades at the extracurricular club.

After selecting the extracurricular club, each student will be loaned specific training tools for each type of extracurricular club. These training tools are in the form of weapons that are allowed to be carried by students at the school.

"Al, we'll meet later in the canteen. The location of our extracurricular clubs rooms is in different directions," Jono explained.

They initially intended to take the training weapons and basic techniques together. But it turned out that both of those items were taken from their respective clubs' storage rooms, and their clubs were heading in different directions.

"All right!" Alvi exclaimed, sprinting towards the club's storage room, where he had joined.

Meanwhile, Jono strolled leisurely towards the building that housed the club he had joined with. Because he enrolled in two types of martial arts-based extracurricular clubs, he was allowed to borrow a total of two types of martial arts training weapons and learn two types of basic martial arts techniques.

For unarmed martial arts, Jono chose a pair of soft gloves and the basic technique of free boxing. Soft gloves are essential gear for a melee martial artist who doesn't use any weapons.

For armed martial arts, Jono chose a weapon such as a sword and the basic technique of the sword slash. He wanted to choose to use a dagger, but he thought he only wanted to practice the dagger art in secret. The art of dagger combat will be one of his secrets or trump cards.

Although all of these were weapons, it was only for training and were not particularly lethal or dangerous to humans with a power level of the first stage or higher. These borrowed equipment or weapons have sensors that the school will always monitor for their movements.

At each extracurricular club, they will teach students various basic things based on direct practice, unlike the normal lessons in the morning class, which generally only teach basic things in the form of theory, even though they occasionally do the hands-on practice.

After selecting the training weapons and basic techniques in the club's storage, Jono went to the school canteen for lunch. When he arrived at the canteen, he immediately took some food and a glass of water for his lunch menu.

Not long after, Alvi approached him while carrying his lunch package as well.

"Have you gone to retrieve your training weapon?" Alvi asked.

"Um, I have, did you?" Jono asked back.

"Yeah," Alvi said, showing the medium-barreled firearm of his choice. His chosen firearm is about forty centimeters long, which requires using wind-type magic energy to use it.

Gun or firearm weapons usually cannot be used by just anyone, because someone can only activate these weapons with magic energy. If the weapon and magic energy didn't have the same element type, this gun weapon was just as good as an ordinary display. But luckily, Alvi got a gun that matched his magic energy element type.

Many students are envious of Alvi because the number of guns in each element type is extremely limited, and some people are unable to obtain a gun that matches their element type or the weapon they desire. Other students chose bows, a blowgun, throwing knives, throwing spears, and other ranged weapons.

Alvi is a spiritas, and he has a guardian spirit in the form of a bird. This guardian spirit possesses wind and plant element-type magic energy. His super ability is very practical and quite great, so Jono wants to have that kind of super ability too.

Perhaps because Jono was aware of the effects of his super ability, he became a bit greedy. He now even thinks about having any kind of super ability that he finds cool.

While Jono and Alvi were eating, a group of new students also arrived, just like the two of them. After taking the lunch package, the group also went to his and Alvi's table.

When they noticed two unknown people occupying the table they desired, one of the members of this group approached Jono and Alvi, putting their food packets down and pounding on the table loudly enough to make a loud sound. The teenager had a round face, purplish-black hair, a large nose, and thick eyebrows.

"Oy, you two, go quickly," said that person, "we want to use this place." He continued in a rather harsh tone. The boy's friends laughed.

"What the hell, use another place there; we're still using this one!" Alvi stated.

Actually, Alvi is not a talkative person, but if someone started first, he would be the quickest to respond, even in this situation.

"Oy, don't you know who we are?" said the round-faced teenager.

Alvi turned to face Jono. "who?" Alvi asked in hushed tones, but the round-faced teenager and his friends could hear his movements. It caused their faces to wrinkle and become somewhat ugly.

And even worse, Jono answered with an attitude of indifference, "I don't know," without a sound and only with a movement of his hand. His response made them even more irritated.

Then the other one of the teenagers from the group of teenagers came forward, slightly shifting the round-faced teenager. This teenager has the shortest body in this group. With an outstretched chest, he said, "Heh talentless people, we are from class [A]; our status is far above yours; you better be aware and move to the other side; this area is for talented students."
