Chapter 31 - Clubs

Jono attempted to approach the guardian spirit so he can touch Alvi's guardian spirit. When he almost touched the guardian spirit, the guardian spirit flew away.

"He's a bit shy," said Alvi.

"Yes, it looks like it," said Jono, looking at the guardian spirit birds flying around Alvi.

"You're a gravity-type element controller, right, Jon? Show me your abilities," Alvi exclaimed excitedly, looking at Jono.

"I can only use my first innate skill; controlling the element of gravity is extremely difficult," Jono said while activating his super ability and using his gravity field skill.

"This is only a gravity field skill, the most common skill possessed by gravity element controllers," Jono explained, a little unenthusiastically showing off this ability.

"Yes, the element of gravity is indeed one of the most difficult elements to comprehend," said Alvi, agreeing with what Jono said.

A few moments later, they arrived at the street food area at JSG. There, Jono and Alvi started looking for and buying some interesting snacks or street food for them. After buying some snacks, they then find a seat to enjoy the snacks they bought.

Not far from where Jono was, a man in his twenties was wearing a brown hoodie and eating some street food on a chair covered in bushes. He looked at where Jono and Alvi were sitting.

"Isn't that the boy the bald twins are looking for?" said the man while looking at the sketch displayed on his smart device.

Then he took a photo of Jono and Alvi eating snacks together. The man then sent the photo to a specific contact on his smart device.

Soon after, a reply message appeared on the man's smart device.

"Good job, Eno; we'll get you the money we promised you as soon as possible," said the message on the man's smart device.

The man was so happy when he saw the message; he didn't care what the bald twins' goal was. He was only concerned with the money the bald man had promised to provide information about the boy.

Not long after, someone wearing a black hoodie, known as Angger, approached the man named Eno.

"Hey Eno, where is the boy?" said Angger as he positioned himself at the table where Eno was eating his food.

"It's over there," said Eno while pointing at Jono, who was still eating his snacks with Alvi.

"Good, I've transferred the money," said Angger happily.

Eno was pleased to hear this, and after double-checking that there was additional money in his account, he stood up and walked away. He had no interest in what Angger wanted to do.

Angger was still there, drinking the canned drinks he had purchased nearby and continuing to observe Jono's movements.

Half an hour later, Jono and Alvi's snacks had run out. Jono also said goodbye and wanted to go home first, while Alvi still wanted to look around to find other interesting street food.

"See you tomorrow," Alvi said as he watched Jono leave.

"Em," Jono nodded, and proceeded to walk home. He walked to the bus stop; he planned to take a public bus to return to his apartment.

Jono did not realize that Angger had followed him from a distance. When he got on the bus, Angger also got on the bus, clinging to several people who were also riding the bus.

Jono got off the bus near his apartment building and began walking towards his apartment. Angger, on the other hand, was still on the bus, watching where Jono was going.

Angger realized that if he went down, it was very likely that Jono would know and immediately suspect him. Therefore, today he will only observe Jono and the possible direction of his residence. From the bus stop that Jono used, he had concluded that it was likely that Jono's residence was nearby.

When Jono arrived at his apartment, he had no idea he was being followed by someone who had attempted to pick up his belongings. At his apartment, he immediately changed clothes and slept in his bedroom.

"School is tiring," he said before falling asleep.

Jono woke up when the sun was about to set. He then washed his face and went to open the curtains on his bedroom window. He walked to the balcony while looking at the orange sky.

Jono sat on the balcony of his apartment. He started to think and ponder several things that made him a bit confused, one of which was about what extracurricular club he would join.

"The day after tomorrow is the last day of extracurricular club registration, and each student is required to register for at least one type of extracurricular club," he muttered as he read the digital book about school introductions on his smartwatch.

The chosen extracurricular activity club will later affect the future of each student; that's because extracurricular club scores also give additional points for university entrance exams. In addition, extracurriculars will issue certain certificates to assist students in applying to certain universities or academies.

"I'd better not think about it too much right now; maybe tomorrow after I know what I can get in the five extracurricular clubs," he said as he closed the digital book on the hologram screen of his smartwatch.

Jono then recalled that when he was at school earlier, during the self-introduction session in his class, some of his classmates already had the power level at the third stage. He is currently still in the second stage of the first phase, and it will probably take a long time to advance to the next stage. Not wanting to waste much time, he then went into his gym and started his training session.

For the past month or so, Jono has been doing routine training, which is practically quite heavy and intense. Over the past few days, he has also made progress in controlling his gravitational ability.

The elements of gravity, life, death, space, and time are the types of elements that are most difficult to control. People who have super abilities related to these five elements will find it very difficult to master the ability that causes the slow increase in their power level.

For example, element controllers are called that because they can control elements instead of creating them. If they were water-type element controllers, they could practice using their super abilities on water that could be seen and felt clearly, and they would quickly become proficient in controlling that water. Unlike the five most difficult elements, for those who are element controllers, this type will be very difficult to understand and feel, let alone control; therefore, most element controllers who have that type of element are more fixated on the innate skills they have.

Therefore, many element controllers of that type would find it very difficult to raise their power level. It's different from other element controllers. For example, fire element controllers can control fire without using their innate skills.

Gravity element controllers can't necessarily control gravity as they please without using innate skills. Because the element of gravity is an element that we know exists but cannot see and is very difficult to feel, what humans usually feel is just the effect of gravity, and one of those effects is weight. Likewise with the elements of life, death, space and time. These five elements do not yet have a specific way to practice controlling them.

Especially someone like Jono, whose ability to control gravity is derived from his puppet. He was counted as having more than one super ability; exploring all of the super abilities would be difficult for the time being. As a result, he is more focused on exploring his original super ability first, followed by his puppets' super abilities.

When Jono is out in public, he will be perceived as an element controller with the ability to control gravity. He will exchange the types of puppets he will keep in his Abs-space while in his apartment so that he can freely use his other puppet super abilities.

While in his apartment, Jono will alternate between Tita and Smokie. Before nightfall, he will use Tita to turn him into a unique ability user.

At night, he will use Smokie to get used to using Smokie's super ability. Smokie's super ability is very useful at night, but during the daytime, Smokie's strength or power level drop dramatically.

"Until now, I've only used Tita's super ability once, and that was done without putting Tita into my abs-space," Jono said, while controlling his three special puppets.

He used Tita's super ability on a beast's carcass a few days ago. Tita's super ability to disguise itself as another beast quite amazed him.

For his cat puppet, Smokie, Jono finds another weakness in his cat puppet's super ability. Even at night, Smokie's power level will drop if it is exposed to any light that covers his body, including the light of the lamp.

So, when he put the Smokie into his abs-space, Jono would turn off the lights in his apartment. He is very satisfied with the super ability of this Smokie even though there is a fatal weakness: being exposed to light.

"Until now, my super ability has not disappointed me anyway," he said, nodding.

"Other than requiring a lot of money," he added, sighing deeply.
