The last lecturer stepped out of the hall and Alexis slipped her note into her bag. She got up from her seat and walked out of the hall after almost a minute of pushing through the crowd.
Most of the students stood in groups, chatting in the hallway but immediately Alexis got into the hallway she started heading towards the door cuz she didn't have actual friends in her class.
Alexis still felt so energetic, the day wasn't as tiring as other days cuz two of her lecturers were absent that day.
'Awesome!'
Her script presentation also went really well and she could not wait to tell Amarr all about it and maybe finally talk about what's going on.
Yeah she had been catching on. She had been picking up what he was laying down.
So she had planned to go straight to Amarr's room but immediately she stepped out of the lecture complex, she ran into Emanie. Again.
He had his car parked in front of the building. The windows were tinted but Alexis was sure she could see Ryan in the backseat.
"Why are you everywhere?" She asked with narrowed eyes.
"You know I could ask you the same question" He replied with a smile.
"You're in front of the freshman complex" Alexis told him.
"Your point?" He questioned leaning on his car.
"Oh jeez" Alexis rolled her eyes. "What do you want Cavalero?" She questioned adjusting her bag.
"Hey you've never called me that" Emanie said with a smile. "Just wanted to ask if you wanted to hang out" he told her "I've been invited to different parties for the rest of this week and I want you to be there with me" he explained.
"Senior parties?" She questioned
"What, you expect me to attend junior parties?" He shot back with furrowed eyebrows.
"Oh" she began "I actually have something to do tonight" she added.
"Another no?" He asked leaning off the car. "I'm beginning to think there's something wrong, is this about Kate, did she do anything?" He questioned
"No, Kate didn't do anything" Alexis replied
"Then what's wrong?" He asked raising his voice a bit.
"Nothing, I just have a lot to do" She replied. "I'm busy" she added.
Then there was a short silence. Emanie just stared at nothing with the most confused expression ever.
"Did anybody tell you anything about me?" He asked, breaking the awkward silence.
Alexis felt her heart jump. She did not expect him to ask that. "No" she replied. "Is there anything I should know?" she asked
"No" he replied.
"I see you're not used to rejection" Alexis began "it seems you always get what you want" she added
"Of course" he began "I'm cavalero" he added
"Well there's a first time for everything, Cavalero" Alexis said and she turned to walk away. "Goodnight" she added and she began her journey towards the dorm.
"Hold on" Emanie called out and Alexis turned back to face him. "So tomorrow?" He questioned
"Yeah, ok, I'm free tomorrow" Alexis replied with a shrug.
"And next tomorrow?" He asked, his face lighting up.
"Don't push your luck Emanie" she replied sharply.
"Ok" he said with a smile. "Goodnight" he added
"Goodnight"
Alexis turned to walk away and almost immediately, she heard Emanie's car zoom off.
She headed straight to the dorm and didn't even bother stopping at her room. She just started walking towards the stairs. Almost immediately she started climbing, she bumped into Wayne who was coming down the stairs.
"Hey" Alexis smiled.
"Hi" Wayne replied. "You heading to the room?" He asked.
Yeah, it was everybody's room so he couldn't call it his. He dared not, especially when Dianne was around, she took it so seriously.
"Do I know anyone else up there?" She shot back.
Actually, Noah's room was up there too on the third floor but whatever.
"Right, I'll see you later, I'm going to grab some food" Wayne told her.
"Ok" she replied and they parted.
She continued her journey up the stairs. Soon she got to the second floor and hastily walked towards Amarr's room.
"I'm here!!!" She yelled as she kicked open the door, barging into the room.
Amarr was so startled, his cup fell from his hand and shattered into a million pieces.
"Oops" Alexis said in a low tone, gently closing the door.
Amarr stood there shirtless in a pair of blue sweat pants and a bottle of wine in his hand staring down at the tiny pieces of glass that used to be his cup.
He slowly raised his head to face Alexis who stood opposite him wide-eyed. He looked mad but at the same time he didn't look mad. "Did you really have to jump in like that?" He asked dropping the bottle on a table beside him. "What happened to knocking?"
"Sorry, I was just happy" she replied with a shrug.
"Well, your happiness cost me my glass" he said "and now I have to sweep this up" he added.
"Good thing you weren't naked" Alexis said walking towards his bed to sit down.
"Yeah, that would have been bad for you" he replied.
Alexis furrowed her eyebrows to think about what he had just said.
'what the fuck'
She shook away the thought, not even willing to ask him what he meant by that.
Amarr picked up a broom and a dust pan from a corner of the room and Alexis made herself comfortable on Amarr's bed.
His laptop was opened, he was typing something Alexis was too lazy to read.
"What's this?" She asked turning to face him.
He was almost done sweeping up the broken glass. "What?" He questioned turning to her. "Oh that's just a thirty paged essay I should have submitted today" he replied.
"Why didn't you submit it?" She asked.
"Couldn't make it through a page" he replied and he walked back to the corner to dump the broken glass in the waste bin. "So why are you so happy?" He asked walking towards her.
"My presentation was amaaazing" she replied throwing her arms in the air.
"Oh really?" He questioned. "Guess you didn't need me anyway" he added.
"Don't be silly, I'm only happy cuz I thought it would be a total trainwreck" she told him. "I barely practiced!"
"Don't be silly?" He questioned pulling his head backwards. "Who still says that?" He added, cringing.
Alexis picked up a pillow and flung it at his face. "Shit head" she said.
"What are you, seventy?" Amarr laughed.
"Shut up!!!" She yelled at him, hitting him with the pillow again.
"Ok, ok" he surrendered raising his hands.
Alexis huffed and dropped the pillow.
"Did you hear the news?" Amarr asked
"What?"
"The school is giving us a break" he replied. "No classes for the rest of the week" he added.
"Whaaat??" Alexis questioned, her face lighting up. "Damn!" She yelled
"Yeah, everybody is so happy about it" he told her. "There are going to be so many parties for the next four days" he added.
'No wonder Emanie was invited to so many parties' She thought.
"Freedom!!" Alexis yelled and Amarr watched her with a smile on his face "Finally I can relax" she added.
Actually she relaxed on weekends but now the weekend is even longer. It was all she ever wanted. Prolonged weekends.
"Alexis, since you're here right now, I've got to tell you something" Amarr said, totally killing the mood.
There's that nervous feeling everybody gets when they hear that sentence so of course, Alexis' smile immediately faded away.
"What?" She questioned.
"I tried to practice this but I couldn't find the right words so I'm just gonna say it" he began. "Remember the time Dianne told you I had a crush on you"
"Yeah" Alexis replied, already knowing where he was going.
"It was true." He said bluntly and Alexis' eyes widened. She wasn't really surprised but that seemed like the perfect thing to do. "Yeah, I've felt that way for a while now but I didn't know how to tell you cuz I am such a dick" he explained and Alexis quietly laughed. He watched her laugh and he smiled. That was a good sign. "I know this is the lamest way to confess my feelings but Alexis," he continued and then he paused to stare at her. "I really like you" he concluded.
Alexis didn't really know what to say. It really was the shittiest way to confess your feelings but she found it kinda cute. Did she like him, of course she did. Did she feel the same way he did? That, she wasn't so sure about but was she willing to give this a try? Absolutely.
She still couldn't find her words so she just stared at Amarr with a smile on her face.
"Say something" he said with focused eye contact.
"I..." Alexis tried to come up with something. Something not stupid. "I...uh" she stammered.
Amarr just watched her try to find words. At this point, she could no longer maintain eye contact. She just stared down at the grey bedsheet.
"Alexis..."he called, grabbing her jaw to raise her head.
He raised his eyebrows as if to ask for permission and she smiled in response to his unasked question.
Then he leaned in. Their faces were so close to each other that Alexis could feel his hot breath. She smiled again, staring into his brown eyes.
Just before anything could happen, they heard the door fling open with a loud bang.
'Are you kidding me!?' Amarr thought. 'every fucking time!'
He just wanted his moment. So fucking close.
"Doesn't anybody knock anymore!?" He yelled getting up from the bed to face whoever had just kicked the door open.
He was flushed.
Dianne just stood at the entrance of the room slack jawed, trying to process what she had just witnessed.
