The moon could be seen high in the sky, below it was a floating island.
The island could be seen lowering itself and getting close to the side of a nearby cliff. It lowered itself more and more until it was at the same height as the cliff.
There was a small 2 feet gap between the island and the cliff, however the island did not get closer nor father from the cliff.
It simply stayed unmoving.
Not far from the cliff a teenager could be seen running at high speeds towards it, he ran on a dirt road however as he ran the road became less and less visible.
The boy however did not take notice of this, he was too focused with running away from something that for all he knew didn't even exist.
Soon he arrived at the cliff but he ignored it like he did the road that by now had vanished.
He easily jumped the 2 feet gap and it was only until after he landed on the island that he woke from his stupor.
He looked back at the gap between the island and the cliff in confusion.
'what? A hole? What is this?'
He got closer to the gap and looked down into it.
Below nothing but darkness could be seen, just then a bell rung once and as if on command the gap began to expand.
The boy stumbled backwards falling on the ground in shock.
Alas he could do nothing as the island got further and further away from the cliff, once it was about 100 feet from the cliff it began to rise.
Confusion and a subtle hint of dispair could be seen on the boy, it was now he understood that he was not on normal ground.
"A floating island?"
The boy got up and walked away from the edge, afraid of falling to his demise.
He ventures into what could only be described as a dead forest, no sounds could be heard coming from the forest and only thick trees could be seen all around.
—---
After getting near the center of the island the boy could come to only one conclusion, this island was without any to call if home.
"I suppose I am in need of a new home, I doubt they'd like it if I came back so… " the boy thought for a second as if planning his next words carefully, "I shall call this place home! From this point on I own this island!"
It was at this moment that the island became perticularly silent, not even the sound of wind blowing could be heard.
The boys face turned red in embarrassment, he had said something he regretted even though no one heard him he still felt embarrassed.
Sigh
"I need to make myself a shelter, but first-"

[A sweet candy]
[Memory Fragment #24]
[Skill Upgrade Token]
[Demon Sword(Rank D)]
[Divinity Skill Token]
"What does a 'Divinity Skill Token' do?"
< A Divinity Skill Token will infuse your Divinity into a skill you already have thereby making it a part of your Divinity and attached to your soul >
"Oh, that's neat I guess, but what is Divinity?"
< Divinity is a special power unique to ones soul >
"Soul… huh" He shook his head in a cartoonist fashion as he refocused on his objective, "use Skill Upgrade Tokens on skill Eater"
–Skills–
>Consume - Rank D
< Skill upgraded to: Consume, this skill allows you to create mouths anywhere on your body, can eat anything
"I guess this is a better upgrade, well then use Divinity Skill Token' on skill Consume"
–Skills–
>Consume - Rank D
< Since you have infused your skill with your divinity is has become a part of your divinity, now you can create blob like mouths that can expand and consume anything >
< Due to the upgrade in quality for this skill you will need to use mental energy to activate the skill >
"Now this, this is good!"
The boy smiled at the upgrade to his skill, he would've tested the skill then and their however, he had not yet developed his core and as such using mental energy would put too much stress on his brain.
He knew his limits and he knew he couldn't use mental energy until he developed a core.
In this world there was a certain energy that filled the atmosphere, one would use this energy to strengthen themselves and to more quickly regain their mental energy.
The energy that infested the atmosphere was called "pure energy" this energy could only be used by elementals. However other species could were born with, or in the case of humans could develope special cores to transform the pure energy into an energy they could use.
There were a veriaty of energies mental energy was one of them.
Humans, unlike every other race aren't born with a core and as such they must develope one. This is a huge advantage for humans as depending on the method and technique used to form the core the core will turn out differently.
Some cores will be especially good at making and storing large quantities of mental energy, others will be good at making lots of Mana energy quickly and efficiently.
Unfortunately Outis had no such techniques, as such he could not form a core and would have to regain mental energy normally.
"Oh well nothing I can do, the book should have something on building a shelter right?"
He took out the basic survival knowledge handbook and flipped through it's pages. By now he had read most of the book only leaving about 5 pages near the end.
Once he found those pages he looked around, found a tree to settle himself beside and started reading.
It only took about 5 minutes to finish reading the book, strangely when Outis closed the book he had a frown spread across his face.
"No luck"
The end of the book taught him about ranks.
Rank 1
1 - 100
Rank 2
101 - 500
Rank 3
501 - 1,000
Rank 4
1,001 - 5,000
Rank 5 (Demi-God)
5,001 - 9,999
Rank 6
10,000 - 50,000
Rank 7
50,001 - 100,000
Rank 8
100,001 - 499,999
Rank 9 (God)
500,000 - 999,999
Rank 10
1,000,000 - 9,999,999
Rank 11
10,000,000 - 49,999,999
Rank 12
50,000,000 - 99,999,999
Those numbers were the added total of one's strength, dexterity, and vitality.
"So I'm only rank 1? I have a long way to go" he got up throwing the book back into his inventory, "I guess I gotta wing it, but first I gotta find the perfect place for my new home!"
The boy explored the island, or at least attempted to. The island was big very, very big and so most of the island was left unexplored.
Strangely however near the center there was an odd clearing, it felt unnatural but Outis thought nothing of it why should he care? No one was here when he found the island and so now it's his.
He gathered some sticks and tried to start a makeshift fire using rocks but rocks alone could not make a fire and so he was left having to sleep through the night with no warmth.
The next morning he got out his new sword, it looked plane other than the red blade everything else was normal.
Nom of this mattered to Outis as he planned to use the sword to cut down trees, his mastery with a sword had reached a point were he could cut down most non magical things. Wood was not an exception, with a single swing the trees would come falling down.
The only difficult part was actually relocating the logs to his clearing. He had to add points to his strength as his current strength was not enough.

With 42 strength moving the logs became much easier, after 30 minutes of collected wood he had managed to obtain 20 logs.
He dug 4 walls in a square shape and put a log in each hole, the holes were about 60 feet deep. Digging them and climbing out was hell but worth it, the logs Outis had collected were about 100 feet tall leaving 40 feet of the log still peaking out.
The boy had not removed the many branches each tree had connected to it as he felt doing so would be a waste of time since all those branches were also shoved into the hole.
After putting the tree in the hole he began to fill the hole with dirt and stones. After about 3 hours one tree had been firmly planted into the ground. Now he had to do the same thing for the other 3 holes.
This would be a grueling process.
