After Outis managed to set all 4 logs into place he stood a little confused.
'wait… how am I going to make the walls? Should I lay the logs horizontally to make walls?' He began to gather the other tree and he placed them on top one another horizontally only for the ones on top to roll off, 'I need to connect them'
He did so by carving 3 holes along the logs one on both sides and one in the middle, he then cut smaller prices of wood and put them through the holes, with this the logs could be stacked onto one another.
He did this and made 3 walls, he then stuck them between the corner pillars and just like that all he needed was a roof.
The corner pillars were way too high and so he ended up trimming them to match the 10 feet height of the walls.
By now the sun had set, risen and set again. Outis was too tired to continue working; he went into the structure he had built and lay on the earth floor. He needed to add the last wall, and also a door, not to mention a ceiling. He still had more work to do, all of this without speaking of his hungry stomach. He had noticed that despite his stomach's pleads for food his body seemed to be just fine, like it was being sustained by something else.
All of this however were worries for tomorrow as the boy looked at the twinkling lights above once more before closing his eyes and falling into the land of dreams.
—----
Outis opened his eyes, there was a strange haze in his eyes as he stared down at a sleeping body on the ground.
His eyes bulged in surprise as he realized the identity of the body, it was his own!
Immediately he moved his hands up to his face to examine his own body, he was in disbelief, what was going on?
<| Hahaha you aren't much a builder are you child. |>
A voice rang in Outis' ear, he spun around looking for the origin of the voice.
"Who's there!"
Silence followed for a while before it was disturbed by the cackling of an old man.
<| There is no need to be cautious child, I don't think I could harm you if I wanted to. |>
'Hmmm? Who are you?'
<| An old dead man is all. |>
Suddenly the ghostly figure of an old man appeared, clear signs of his old age could be seen throughout his body but signs of tough labor could also be seen.
<| Child do you now of the family of Nova? |>
"That name doesn't ring a bell I'm afraid"
Soon seeing the old man the boy began to feel a sense of confort, it was like he could trust this old man.
<| I see, I suppose I shouldn't seen this coming. The current state of our family headquarters speaks of it. |>
"Family headquarters? Is this your family grounds? This floating island!?"
<| Quite a beauty isn't she? Yes! This wonderful island is our families greatest work! A shame the person who now calls it home can barely build a simpel hut |>
"What? Your family built this island?"
The boy ignored the old man's remark to his bad building skills, he knew it himself building wasn't his thing.
<| That's right! We built her, the interior structure should still be in decent condition seeing as how its still operating on its previous schedule |>
"Interior? The island has an interior? Where's the entrance?"
<| … |>
The old man did not respond and instead looked at the boys shabby attempt at a hut, his eyes showed slight disgust. It was the same disgust a professional chef would have towards the food made from someone who had never cooked before.
The old man sighed in defeat as he looked back at the boy.
<| Boy do you have a last name? |>
"No sir… I no longer carry a surname"
<| Would you like to carry the name of Nova? |>
The boys eyes sparkles with hope as he looked at the old man with slight shock.
"But sir your family is clearly a family of builders I have no talent for building!"
<| Boy what surname did you abandon? |>
The boy hesitated, like he was unwilling to even say the name.
"Anker, I abandoned the name of Anker sir"
<| Anker? Hahahaha I see that brats name still lives on huh? |>
"Huh?"
<| I see child, don't worry. If you don't have the talent for a builder then you'll just have to compensate with overwhelming skill! |>
The boy stood, a little shocked and confused, he didn't expect this outcome.
<| The nova family is not like that. MY family is not like that! |>
The old man nearly shouted, a big grin spread across his face as he said "my" with pride.
<| Then child, would you like to inherit my name? Become a part of the family of Nova and become a builder? |>
The man smiled as he offered to give his surname to the boy. Such a thing would be considered outrages by any other family, which only goes to show the anomaly of the Nova family.
Outis looked at the old man, his eyes nearly cascading water. He had been given hope, hope to be apart of a family atlast.
"If I may sir, please bestow my with the Nova name"
He bowed as he asked the old man, respect filled his voice.
<| Haheheha no need for formality boy, now since you accepted the Nova name I will impart with you the knowledge of our family |>
The old man put his hand up to the boys forehead as it glowed a mystic light.
The light transferred from the old man's hand to the boys head.
<| Make sure to take care of the family treasure, name her if you desire. Oh and before I forget, for the love of creation please make a better hut |>
The boy looked up at the old man in confusion, the old man's ghostly body began to glow a strange ghostly green.
<| Remember boy, you are now the family head of the Nova family. Raise your head and remind the world of our family and it's greatness |>
The old man's body began to disappear as he smiled a jolly smile. It was like his final regret had been fulfilled.
"Wait!"
But it was too late, the old man had vanished and with him the boys conscious began to fade. He suddenly felt sleepy as he closed his eyes and fell back into the world of dreams he had been taken out of.
