The young man had gone about a mile on the main road when the first raindrops began to fall. Hearing a voice, he pulled the reins of his horse and looked around. Then he dug his heel into her mare's hindquarters and hurried in the direction of the sound. A few minutes later the wind was whipping the branches of the trees. Andrew noticed that the air was getting cooler. Huge raindrops were falling one after another. Soon a downpour began. Andrew thought of the girl. He was quite wet when he saw the path that left the main road and led into the forest. Thinking he could hide under the trees, he rode up the path. He wasn't quite sure where the sound was coming from.
Lightning flashed, creating forks in the sky. Andrew was already hiding under the leaves of a tree when he heard a deafening thunder. Andrew knew that a terrible storm was breaking out. But there was no sign of Mary, and he didn't like the idea of her being out in the storm. At this moment, a mare's voice was heard.
When a deafening sound of thunder is heard from behind. Cat's mare startled. "Calm down, girl," Cat said softly, stroking her silky mane. Her mind was on the sound of horseshoes she had just heard. The young girl had lost her way to the town, and when she wanted to return she was completely lost. While Cat wasn't the type to be easily frightened, she had never been alone in the woods in the middle of the night before, and in the middle of a storm that was about to break out. She bit her lip, trying to guess what time it was. Had they noticed his absence and set out to look for her? Cat stood there for a few moments, considering her options. She had made the mistake of assuming that Andrew cared even a little about her. She had been trying to meet her and somehow talk to her for a week, but all her efforts had been futile. Cat wondered what it meant to this man. No doubt, he took pity on a miserable girl. After all, he was a duke. Who knows, she wasn't even aware of his absence. Cat's heart ached as Andrew thought of it. She shouldn't have thought of that.
A few minutes later, Cat heard the hooves she had just heard approaching her. A few minutes later a horseman appeared. As the horseman was coming towards her, he must have changed his mind because he start to wait among the wet trees.Cat squinted her eyes, trying to see the horseman among the trees. It was raining and it was foggy. As Cat looked through the trees, her heart was beating fast with fear and hope. Soon, he must have seen him on the horse, because he headed towards her direction. "Mary," he called after the horseman came a little closer. Cat's heart now beat only with hope. " Who is there?" Calling towards the rider, Cat couldn't hide her surprise as she stood a few meters away from the rider. There it was "Andrew." Cat stammered in surprise. "My lord."
Andrew got off his horse and walked towards her.
"Mary, I've been looking for you everywhere, thank God, isn't there one?" Cat didn't know what to say. So Andrew had taken the trouble to go looking for her?
"Well, my lord, I've lost my way."
As lightning lit up the air once more, Andrew said, "We must hurry and hit the road. Or we'll be caught in a big storm." Cat nodded, and the two of them hurried off onto their horses, but the downpour had begun and the fog had set in. Both rode with difficulty for a while, but instead of finding their way, they got lost further. After a while, a small hut appeared in the fog.
Andrew jumped off his horse and pushed the back door of the cabin into. Cat followed him too. Andrew took off his riding gloves and cap. "We'd better spend the night here," he said.Cat wrapped her arms around Hersek'e.
"You're wet," said Andrew. "Let's light a fire"
While Andrew was looking for something to make a fire, Cat had managed to start a fire in a short time with the resourcefulness of the past. "My lord, come to the fire." Andrew came up to him.
"You're quite resourceful, Mary, you must have learned a lot living with that woman?"
Cat didn't know how to answer him. Young man holding his breath
"Sometimes one has to learn a lot," she said. She hadn't forgotten Lori's warnings. She needed to get close to Lord Andrew, but it was the first time she was alone with a man and she didn't know what to do.
"Take off your jacket," Andrew said in his masculine voice.
Cat didn't seem to understand. She looked at Andrew with blank eyes.
"No… I don't want to take it off."
"Get out," Andrew insisted. "Your jacket is wet"
Cat clutched her jacket tightly. Andrew was worried that the girl might get it wrong.
"Mary, they're wet. I promised Lori that you would be well taken care of. I don't want to get sick"
Andrew never thought that Lori would care if she was okay. All she cared about was money. "Okay," Cat said after a moment's hesitation. Andrew's tense shoulders relaxed. He was afraid that the girl would misunderstand him. The young girl unbuttoned her jacket and handed it to Andrew. Andrew hung his hat and jacket, along with his own, on the rack by the stove. Andrew in a commanding tone
"Stay by the fire," he said.
Andrew went to the back table. He was looking at the young girl. Her black hair was wet. She had never seen him like this before. Unwittingly, the young girl stretched out her hands and pulled out the combs that gathered her hair and shook her hair quickly. This move caused Andrew to awaken different emotions in him. However, the girl did this without realizing it. He looked at Andrew and saw that he was standing still beside the table. Andrew's brown hair was wet and messy. Cat shivered for a moment.
She didn't know this man at all. It had been a week since I met him. Andrew's gaze was possessive. Andrew came up to the young girl and said, "The sofa is clean. If you're warm, you can sit down." The sofa next to the table was faded. Cat tried to warm her legs by gathering them under her skirts. "Mary, has Lori ever made you do things you didn't want to do?" Andrew wondered what the girl was getting into. Cat understood what he was implying. shaking his head from side to side
"My Lord, No, no.. Never Lori has always been good to me. We lived in a small house outside London until I was eight years old. But then they kicked us out of the house because we had debts."
Andrew is angry
"Then you started robbing foreigners who came into town"
Cat bowed her head in embarrassment. Andrew thought for a moment whether he was being too hard on her. In a soothing tone, lowering his voice;
"Mary, it's not your fault, but as long as you live by my side, you must forget the past"
Cat looked up at him hopefully. His eyes were shining. "Of course, my lord." Said. Andrew:
"You must be very tired. You sleep here, I'll sleep there. In the morning the storm will have passed." He said, "Mary, by the way, I'm going to teach you to read and write, you've seen a few rules or something, you should get an education." Andrew would stay for a while and take care of the girl and even find a suitable husband for her. As a result, he took the girl under his protection.
Cat was glad to hear that. The idea of being able to spend more time with Andrew made her happy. She hesitated whether to say she could read and write, but she decided not to tell him. The lord thought she was an ignorant, uneducated girl. Andrew would sleep in the corner chair. "Good night, Mary," he said. "Good night, my lord," Cat said with a faint smile, but she hadn't been able to sleep all night because of both the storm and the thoughts plaguing her. For a moment, Cat even considered giving up the plan. But Andrew only took pity on her. When he realized this, his heart ached for some unknown reason.
