Chapter 10 - My little

Andrew woke up early that morning. He was thinking about what happened yesterday. Why had he been so excited to be so close to Mary? Andrew reminded himself once more that he was a gentleman. He couldn't have different feelings for that girl. He didn't want her to get the wrong idea. She would find a suitable husband for her, as she had originally thought. Unexpectedly, Andrew had made it his mission to put this girl's life on track. While thinking this, Andrew headed to the closet and quickly put on black pants and a black shirt. He was going to spend some time in the library this morning.

When Andrew entered the library, he found Cat sitting in an armchair, bent over her lap, reading a book. He was surprised. "Can you read alone now?" Andrew, meanwhile, had seen the title of the book. "Yes," Cat replied, smiling at him. He seemed pleased that Andrew Cat was reading by herself. He crossed the chair where Cat was sitting and threw one leg over the other. His demeanor was as relaxed as ever. "You should read Shakespeare then, I'm sure you'll like it," he said. Cat "I will read." Said. Andrew looked at her thoroughly, then said, "Mary, there's something about you that I don't understand. Sometimes you look so innocent. Like that little boy I met on the first day. I see something different, it's like there's something you're hiding too." Cat felt a moment of fear. Or did Andrew figure out her plan?

"My lord, this house and you have taught me so much? I feel like a young girl now," she said.

"Mary, I want you to feel safe and comfortable in this house. You are important to me," he said. For a moment, a spark of anger flashed in Cat's green eyes. Inwardly, she resented the way Andrew looked at her like a kitten she had found on the street.

"Mr. Andrew, you shouldn't feel responsible to me. After all, I'm just a thief who wants to rob you."

Her voice was angry. It was the first time Andrew had seen her like this.

"You've already done so much for me?" Andrew sensed that the young girl was uncomfortable with something. "Mary, you are a beautiful girl, a very beautiful girl. Also, you are very young, although you have been protected from the evils of this world until now, men may not always treat you the way I treat you." Said. Cat's angry gaze softened a little. Andrew continued, "I don't want you to misunderstand me, but a girl like you can easily be a victim of men's malicious intent."

Andrew was momentarily enraged when he imagined these evil motives. Even thinking of Mary as a man's mistress enraged her.

"I'll always be grateful for what you've done for me, Mr. Andrew, but it's enough for me to work here as a janitor and I can repay you."

Andrew stood up and approached Cat. He reached out and lifted Cat's chin slightly.

"My little one, don't worry about this " he said.

After removing her hand from Cat's chin "I would like to discuss it with you after you finish your book," and left the library.
