Chapter 4 - New life

Andrew had not yet revealed his true identity to Cat. Instead of taking Catherine to her castle in Windermere, he had decided to take her to a small mansion on their estate.

The car was jolting along the rough road. Andrew broke the silence first.

"Mary"

Andrew was told that the girl's name was Mary. She raised her green eyes softly when Andrew called out to her. The girl's beauty made Andrew's head spin for a moment. He shyly lifted his head. "Sir," he said in a barely audible voice. Andrew tenderly told her:

"Mary, what happened to your real family? " he asked.

Cat hesitated, then said, "My lord." Lori had told her that she should have called him that. "They lived in a small town outside of London. They died when I was a baby, I've been living with Lori as long as I can remember. "Andrew nodded as if to say he understood.

Andrew took pity on this girl.He didn't want to scare her.If he wanted to work at his house, he was thinking of assigning her some housework at the mansion. He didn't want the woman to know that she was making his a bargaining chip. Andrew didn't ask her anything more. Andrew's long legs touched Cat's knee. Catherine would sneak a glance at him from the corner of his eye the entire trip.

She felt a pain in her stomach as Cat took another furtive glance at her.

Even though he was dressed in black from head to toe, he was very handsome. He had blue eyes and dark brown hair. Andrew put his hand to his chin, keeping his eyes on the book he was reading, but he couldn't turn his mind to it. His mind was on the girl. He thought of that woman. "The girl was beautiful. Perhaps the woman would sell him to the brothel later. This girl was really worth a lot of money. Andrew was glad he had saved this girl from that woman's grasp. He felt a pity for the girl." He took pity on this girl, nothing else. Andrew looked up at her from the book he was reading. The girl was staring absently out of the window, not seeming to be interested in him. Andrew looked her up and down. The girl looked beautiful, even though she was wearing the men's clothes Andrew wore when he first saw her. Andrew shook his head, as if trying to banish the thoughts that had swarmed his mind.

Andrew was always a kind but cold man to women. He would never forgive mistakes made against him and was quick to anger. He loved women, but he had never been in love with any woman until today. Andrew was too smart of a man to fall for a woman easily. The reason he took this girl with him was because he felt sorry for her. Not everyone could treat this girl as well as he did. The journey continued for a long time in deep silence. The car stopped after a while.

They had arrived at Andrew's country estate. When they finally reached one of Andrew's little mansions, several butlers, dressed in the traditional red and blue uniform of the Duke of Waveshire, were waiting for them at the door. The door of the carriage, which was shining brightly, opened softly. Andrew got out of the car first with the help of one of the butlers. "Thank you, Charles," said this servant, smiling affectionately. As all of the butlers waited for the young duke's command, then, as Cat gently poked her head out of the carriage, the look of surprise appeared on the faces of all of the butlers.

As Cat shyly got out of the car and stopped right next to Andrew, Andrew said to an older woman:

"Give Mary something to wear and show her where she will stay. Now Mary will stay here and help you in the kitchen. Teach him everything necessary, I'll stay here for a while, get my room ready." Said.

Andrew thought he could stay here for a few weeks. He would later leave the girl here and return to London. Mary was now an employee of this house. The girl was not to be given special attention. A total of four people worked in the mansion. A Cook, a butler, a housekeeper and a cleaner. butlers

"Right now, my lord," he said, running around. The older woman turned to Cat and said:

"Follow me and I'll show you where you're staying." Said. Cat follows her one step behind her. They stopped in front of a small room.

Woman: "This is your room, I'll bring you something to wear" and left.

When Cat entered the room, she found a better place than she had expected. The room was clean. In the corner was a single bed, a small window, a small closet, and a desk. Cat sat on the edge of the bed. After a while there was a knock on the door and the woman entered.

"Here are the clothes, I am heating water on the stove. You should wash too," he said, and left the room. The woman knocked on the door again and left a small tub inside. Cat would have to carry the hot water. In fact, in the inns where she stayed, Cat took care to wash often. After washing, he put on the clothes that the woman had given him. It was the same clothes as the woman before. Cat put on her clothes and waited in the room. Apparently he was going to help out with the domestic services. His new life was beginning.

When Andrew had washed and rested and went downstairs to eat, there was no one around. After eating alone, he ate and went into the study. For several days, Andrew's daily routine continued like this. Cat was trying to adjust to her new life and Rose was helping out with the housework.
