While Winter was left with Diem, Lyla had her own trouble. Lyla ran as quick as she could after creating a diversion. She ran for a while, then stopped in her tracks. She looked around the quiet alley and saw she was alone. As she was about to continue running, images flashed around her. Her panic attacks have been replaced with various images. After the images stopped, Lyla touched her head and stumbled backwards.
Lyla: The..se images again?. I have seen these before.
Lyla: A person in a cloak? But Winter's with him already.
Lyla thinks hard.
Lyla: Or could he have killed Winter already?... Noo it is too early. She would have put up a long fight trying to stall.
Lyla: Could there be more of them?
Lyla then starts walking around aimlessly trying to figure out the scenario.
Lyla: The aura I felt from that man was not normal, which means he could have killed us in a split second if he wanted. But--
Lyla pauses.
Lyla: He jumped from the sky... Was he spying on us?
Lyla: Probably. (Snaps her finger) Meaning, he knew our plan all along.
Lyla stops to think for a few minutes.
Lyla: Then why didn't he stop us?. Did he want us to split up?
Lyla hears some leaves rustling and garbage bags being hit. She looks around but sees nothing.
Lyla:(gasps) THE VISION. The person in the cloak had a tiny strand of red hair showing.
Lyla: The other man did not have red hair meaning---
Lyla smiles upon realizing everything. She removes her glasses and puts her contact lenses instead.
Lyla shouted to no one in particular.
Lyla: If you want something from me, then stop hiding in the shadows.
Of course lyla was petrified in this situation but she was calm. She knew that these men were not humans and she didn't know if winter or I were either.
Lyla: come out, you coward
Just then someone in a cloak comes out from hiding.
Person: Well done
Lyla: (steps back) Who are you?
Person: The last person who will ever see.
The person takes off the cloak, revealing a woman with a short red ponytail and dark brown eyes.
Lyla: You guys look too young to be assassins.
Woman: That's none of your business.
Lyla: What do you want from us?
This time the woman doesn't answer. She brings out marbles from the back of her cloak. When Lyla sees this, she starts running, knowing that the marbles are explosive. As she is running, the woman keeps throwing the marble at her. Lyla keeps running faster and faster till she gets to a dead end. Lyla turns back and sees the woman behind her. The woman smirks.
Woman: No where to run now.
This time Lyla is scared and she shows it. As the woman is about to throw the marble, lyla uses her arms to cover one. Instantly, a strong force of wind pushes the woman away from Lyla. The wind is so strong that it pushes her to the brick wall on the side of the alley, making her cough a little blood. Suddenly her partner appeared without his cloak, he threw a dagger at lyla. The dagger created a smokescreen to distract lyla. Lyla coughed and swept the air. By the time the air was cleared, they were gone. Lyla sighed in relief thinking he was going to attack her. She dropped down to the floor and said,
Lyla: What is going on?. The visions, the powered assassins, the weird abilities. They are connected somehow.
Lyla: If Winter is alive, it must mean, she has these abilities or he spared her.
Suddenly lyla hears Winter calling her name out loud from a distance.
Winter: LYLA... LYLA!!
Lyla smiles and shouts.
Lyla: I'M HERE !!
Winter follows the sound of Lyla's voice and sees her sitting on the floor.
She runs to meet her. When they disengage from the hug, they both notice something odd about each other.
Winter: (confused) You're wearing contacts?
Lyla: Why are you wearing a cloak?
Winter: (rolls eyes)That idiot almost drowned me.
Lyla widens her eyes.
Winter: Yeah
Lyla: That's why you are wet
Winter nods and asks about her.
Lyla: I couldn't run with my glasses.
Winter: Okay
There was silence after Winter spoke. The two of them looked at each other after remembering and realizing what just happened.
Winter: WE ALMOST DIED. WHO WERE THEY?
Lyla: I don't know either. They can't be humans right? This makes no sense.
Winter: Well HUMANS don't throw water spears or explosive substances.
Lyla: Then what is going on?
Lyla thinks.
Winter: I don't think we should go to the police
Lyla: They would never believe that we got attacked by witches or magicians.
Winter: So who would ACTUALLY believe us?
Lyla: I don't know. If they attacked us, without making a mistake of our identity, we are probably tangled in this mess too.
Winter: Maybe our moms would know something about this
Lyla: Maybe. If they do then--
Lyla looks at Winter
Winter: They have been hiding something big-- something very big.
The girls head home not expecting what awaits them.
