Something shiny materializes in his hand-- a KNIFE
The people gasp in fear for the Princess. It was already too late to stop him. Everything played out in slow motion. The King could not use his fire magic without burning Winter and Lyla, since they were in his front.
Lyla glanced over slowly at Winter as the man pointed the knife ready to stab her with it. As he was just centimeters away from her, and everyone thought hope was lost; Green plants from the ground surfaced into the palace and restrained him. This made him drop the knife. Everyone was shocked, looked at Queen Alouette, who was controlling the plants easily.
Queen: Not again... I won't lose them again this time.
The Queen clenched her fist and the plants' grip on the man tightened, making him pass out.
Lyla touches Winter.
Winter: well that was scary
Lyla: uhm mm
The King and Queen also go up to Winter and embrace her. The people sighed in relief on seeing the man restrained. As usual, different people were recording this drama unfold-- the journalist. Even in their elegant gowns and charming suits, they flashed their cameras, like it was their last. The royal family was going to be plastered on the news by tomorrow.
XX TIME SKIP
It has been about two weeks since the incident occured. The kingdom was still in a frenzy because of the sudden news. The Kingdom was not exactly used to the idea of triplets being the cause of their dilemma. Some accepted the triplets, some still hated them and others pretended everything was alright; when it clearly wasn't.
ON THE TRAINING FIELD
The regal knights are training vigorously on the vast field. Water balls flying in every direction, arrows, sonic booms, sonic screams, daggers, flying rocks and so on everywhere.
The regal knights are training their magical powers to surpass their limits. Princess Corissa is supervising their training and forcing them to go beyond, strictly.
The King, his escort, Lyla and Winter arrive at the field. Instead of a gown, the girls are dressed in a training jumpsuit and gloves. Winter has her hair in a ponytail with her blue jumpsuit; while Lyla's suit is in black.
Ever since that night when Winter and Lyla were attacked, they had not activated their powers again. King Felix approaches the regal knights while they are training. Winter and Lyla follow him too. The regal knights stop their training immediately and bow to the king. Princess Corissa also turns back and walks up to King Felix.
King Felix: As you know, Princess Ayana and Kalina are back home. Because of this, Avis is coming sooner than we thought. The princesses are here to train to develop their powers. They are the last line of defense.
Regal knights: Yes sir.
King Felix nods and looks over at Princess Corissa and Leon.
King Felix: Daughter, Leon, you both will handle their training now.
Corissa: Yes father. Leon: Yes sir.
King Felix: Inform me of any progress as soon as possible.
The King's escort and King Felix disappear.
Leon: The rest of you continue your training.
Princess Corissa went to the courtyard just outside the field and pressed a red button. Immediately, stone like structures emerged from the ground and took a stance. The regal knights knew what to do.
Lyla: Uhmm we are still here
Lyla says, while pointing at herself and winter. Princess Corissa ignores Lyla and faces Leon. Lyla sighs at this.
Corissa: We are going to be training at the far end of the field.
Leon nods and activates his silver powers. It forms an irregular carpet structure. This carries all of them.
Winter: Woahh.
Leon navigates it to the far end of the field. When it reaches there, it settles down on the ground gently and disappears. Winter and Lyla are amazed at this sight.
Corissa: Etherian Powers generally arise when the host is in danger or stressed out.
Winter: But we can't use them.
Corissa: I want to test your physical abilities.
Corissa says that with pride, but a little bit of irritation is present too.
Princess Corissa makes a flame spear while Leon draws out his sword. Corissa spins her spear.
Corissa and Leon attack Winter and Lyla at once. Corissa swings the spear to graze Winter, in various directions. First slow, Winter is able to dodge everything. Leon throws his sword in Lyla's direction. The sword lands at Lyla's feet. Lyla picks up the sword slowly. Lyla gives him a confused look.
Lyla: Are you sure?
Leon nods affirmatively.
She stands in position then starts swinging the sword in Leon's direction. Leon is able to dodge them with ease. This continues for about 4 minutes. Lyla gets frustrated with this, she stops swinging the sword and stops to think. Immediately Leon kicks her, making her fall to the ground. Lyla grunts.
Leon moves towards a frustrated Lyla on the ground.
Lyla: I never expected this to be easy, but it is still frustrating.
Leon: In a battle, there is never time to stop and think.
A kneeling Lyla with her hands on the grass, backing Leon says;
Lyla: I know.
Lyla immediately turns throwing some grass seed sand in Leon's face.
Leon: W..hat
Leon staggers back in shock. He had let his guard down and Lyla had apparently gotten the upper hand. Lyla swipes the sword and runs towards Leon quickly. As she is about to strike him with the sword, silver forms and pushes Lyla backwards roughly. The sword flies out of her hands. She rolls on the grass for a while then she stops. Winter still dodging Corissa increased attacks, glances over at Lyla's side. She gets distracted and Princess Corissa is able to strike her on her shoulder.
Winter: Tch!
Corissa: Don't get distracted.
Leon walks up to Lyla. He stretches out his hand to aid her up. She takes his hand and dusts the dirt off her clothes. Before Leon could speak up, Lyla beat him too it.
Lyla: You used your powers
Leon: Yes I--
Lyla: You made it clear that you won't use them.
Leon: You need to learn that no one plays fair. If It were Avis or any villain, they won't play by the rules.
Lyla: But--
Leon: That's why you need to train to become stronger.
Lyla: Okay.
Leon and Lyla watch Winter and Corissa's match. They sit on the grass casually together.
Lyla: Are you sure you didn't use your powers because you didn't want to lose to me. So you took the "any means necessary" way.
Leon: Maybe.
Leon smiles and Lyla chuckles
The wind blows, their hair and the grasses respond. The wind danced around Princess Corissa and Winter too.
Winter wanted to leave Corissa's side. Winter notices that Corissa started spinning her flame spear. She gripped the flame spear, even though it looked extremely hot. But to her surprise, she didn't get burnt.
Winter says to herself inwardly;
Winter: I am not getting burnt. Could it be that my powers are working in the smallest way they can, now?
Winter focuses back on Corissa. She held it tightly which shocks Princess Corissa. Princess Corissa loses her guard for a second and Winter musters up all her strength and pushes Corissa. It works; Corissa's grip on the spear is released. Winter gives her a kick which she blocks. She is distracted for a while because of the kick.
Winter: Yess.
She says excitedly
Winter does perfect cartwheels to where the sword lays. She grabs it from the ground then turn back to her sister. Corissa had already taken her flame spear ready to attack.
Winter: Bring it on, sister
Corissa: Likewise.
They lung at each other and their weapons clash forming an "X".
