Chereads / LOVE OF TOMORROW / Chapter 2 - Anxious.

Chapter 2 - Anxious.

I admired his little garden which comprised of varieties of beautiful flowers as I walked in. Finally, we got to the doorpost and he twisted the door knob. He pushed it open and shoved me in.

The aroma of the environment filled my nose, which made my tummy rumble a little. He heard it certainly as he looked at me and smiled. I was a little embarrassed though, I just gave out a sheepish smile.

I remembered that wasn't what brought me to his place, so I kicked back to my senses. I thought of million ways on how to bring about the discussion concerning my pregnancy but, honestly, I had no idea.

Finally, he broke the silence.

"Eh, babe... hope you don't mind having lunch first",Adrian asked.

I gave a light smile. "Not at all, it's okay by me".

"Good. You'll wait at the dining room while I set the table",Adrian said, leaving for the kitchen.

I nodded my head and walked myself over to the dinning room. The music videos that played on the TV distracted me from my thoughts a bit. Though, I was still conscious of what was gonna befall me.

I lifted my gaze from the screen and directed it to where I heard footsteps approaching me. It was Adrian, offcourse. He walked with a tray of food in his both hands with a wide grin on his face, then he dropped it on the table.

I smiled. But then again, I lost great appetite. I wasn't in the mood to eat again. I watched him as he sat next to me, ready to devour his own meal.

On a normal day, I always had a lot to say to him, telling him about my day, my activities and all that, even if it wasn't relevant. But now, I couldn't even find the right words to say.

Adrian seemed to be in a good mood, as usual though. I felt the urge to open up. I can't be dying in silence,. it's just gonna worsen everything and I'd hate myself if I don't get to tell him before leaving.

I scoffed. "Er, babe?"

"Yeah...?", he answered. He was filling our two glasses from the wine bottle.

"Remember I said I had something to tell you, right?". I asked as I pushed my food aside. It was still covered though.

"Yeah, I do. Can't it wait till we're done eating?", he asked with a raised brow.

"It's really important-

He interrupted. "Okay, say it. I'm all ears".

My heart was thumping loud. I stole a glance at his face, then I looked down. I couldn't tell him into his eyes. I could hear myself breathing hard and a little sweaty, though the AC blew at its highest.

I gasped to catch my breathe. "I... I'm preg... pregnant". I finally broke out.

He giggled loudly. "Babe, you could have thought of better jokes. You can't be serious now". I actually loved playing pranks on him but he had to believe me this time.

I found my hands through my bag in search of the evidence as a pulled it out.

"My medical report... you can see for yourself", I said, handing over to him, a paper sheet.

Adrian exchanged glances with me before taking it from my hand. I swallowed hard, waiting for his reaction. I only hoped everything would turn out positive. I examined the look on his face as his eyes widened in shock. At this point, I wished I had the power to read minds.

"Seriously? This is unbelievable. So, I'm gonna be a proud dad soon. Baby, I can swear that I'm so happy for us. It's a new beginning and-

He stopped as he couldn't help notice the tears that trickled down my cheeks. Maybe, tears of joy... I didn't know why I was crying.

He squatted right in front of me. "Babe, what's wrong? Why are you crying, Dolly?". He asked as he wiped my tears with his palms. His palms felt soft and smooth as they touched my face.

"Are you really owning up to it?", Kendall sobbed.

He nodded and placed his hands on my shoulders, still squatting low.

"Don't be silly, baby. It's my responsibility and besides, I'm happy. You should be happy too. You see, life is giving us a more reason to stay together and it's gonna be forever, I promise you this,Kendall-, he paused. He looked at me deeply.

"I can't bear seeing you in pain and you know that... so, why would I leave, especially now you need me the most. Not only you now,but our unborn child. I really love you and I won't give up proving it to you, baby", he confessed.

"I love you too". I sobbed, pulling my arms around his neck. "I don't deserve someone like you, baby", I added. I sniffed in my tears.

"Shh! Don't say that ever again, offcourse you deserve me", he shunned, hugging me back, more tightly. He stroke my hair gently and placed my head on his chest.

I felt at ease. I hadn't felt that way in forever. My mind was settled. I couldn't ask for anything more. He was all I could ever wish for. I was lucky to have him in my life.

We had been hugging for more than 5 minutes without saying anything to each other. I could hear the rhythm of his heartbeat. It was the best sound ever.

"Hmm, someone is not feeling this moment here", Adrian said, leaving me puzzled.

"But it's just me and you in here-, I said.

I tried to peer through to see if there was a third-party in their midst, though I doubted.

"Our baby", Adrian teased.

"Damn!!!", I laughed as soon as I got my sense back.

"You see, mom isn't fond of you yet. She just wants to get all dad's love and attention", he said as he made funny faces. He was referring to our unborn child.

"Heyyy!", I said, giving him a little spank with a cute chuckle. He had a great sense of humor.

"The food is getting cold", said Adrian.

"Oh, yeah! Thanks alot, my favourite!!!", I jumped happily, picking up the cutlery.

"No, not today. I will do the feeding, okay? ", Adrian said, taking the cutlery from my hands.

"Lol, if you insist. But what about your food? It's gonna--

Adrian shut me up by stucking a large spoonful into my mouth.

"Shh!", he said, placing his right index finger on his lips.

"Babe! You couldn't let me finish talking", I said, with food stuffed in my mouth.

"And she's still talking, gush!", Adrian said, about to scoop another spoon into my mouth.
